I’ve watched the Yu-Gi-Oh! equivalent of Herald Reviews twice each. It’s called Table 500 Commentary.
I think I know why the “Herald Ward” is so common in that bracket - from someone who is consistently stuck in sub 2k games: it’s a trauma response from being punished for having no vision or missing calls and getting dove from that strip of the safelane jungle without warning. smurfs (especially pudge players) in this bracket will gleefully abuse the lack of vision or communication and farm kills like crazy from there.

Especially in team games, low level meta things are not objectively bad; they capitalize on your opponents being bad as well as your teammates.
Meh tbh I'm bad at Dota, but because I got prior experience in pretty much every moba out there plus like 600 hours in dota in 2013-14, I don't need vision there. 5000 hours of dodging Blitzcrank in league has taught me all I need. Unless it's some giga gamer pudge (in which case I bow and place a ward after the first time) their hooks never hit me, or if they do they don't do much since the pudge is playing too out of position to actually get an effective hook on me or I have slightly better reactions and CC him.
Can't say the same about my random teammates tho. Those guys really love the hooks even at low brackets.

What the hell man? Pudge hid behind trees and cliff, activated abilities to let his location be known then activated blademail while being obscured by the cliff. Heralds are something else.

its funny watching these in person, the chat always thinks a bunch of people are smurfs then they do god awful plays and they realize they're not, then late game anyone who gets into any good situation is a smurf again, Like you know if your in a game and everyone is garbage sometimes your gunna get a bunch of kills it doesnt mean your some gigachad immortal smurf. In this game ember was a smurf, then he wasnt anymore, then he was 100% a smurf according to chat.
It's already very evident Ember isn't a smurf coz he did the super outdated max flame guard skill build.
He may be a smurf from archon or legend still. Because I don't believe heralds are able to fist-doge anything

1:00 like I said in another video, this ward placement comes from dota plus. One of my friend who started to play dota get a free 2-month dota plus keeps placing that ward there until I noticed and scold at him and he said the game told him should place ward there. I don't believe it until he live stream his game and that bother me a lot.
Watch pros play and you may learn something new but watching heralds play and you learn both the do's and don'ts simultaneously. That's just efficiency.

0:42 As someone who often puts that ward (not herald - game thinks me an Archon for some reason) i can try to explain it.
The idea is to see the enemy support lurking about those trees for harassment. It makes it easier to avoid him, or to counter-attack him if one wants to.
Also it just feels safe and comfy that way. I hate not having vision on those trees, makes me paranoid.

I'm in crusader and that ward spot is still used. Also, to block the dire top small camp they always place it on the bottom right spot
