Just curious... does anyone else see the irony that an amazing TV series gets cut as a result of allegations of improper conduct, yet the population of the United States (where people are innocent until proven guilty) just elected a convicted rapist to one of the most powerful leadership positions in the world? I'm so confused...
Yep. It's called hypocrisy, and they'd better start calling out the r*pist who is now president. Will they start fighting that? Disappointingly, I haven't heard much said about DT's disgusting treatment of women, but then I do avoid toxic social media, so I hope I'm wrong.
I left it ages ago when *new management* took over. I don't know how to close my account but I never engage. I just went in and deactivated!!! I feel cleaner already. Thank you Sendarya for this post and prompting me to take this action. You channel is so worthwhile for so many reasons.
As a social media denier, I never drank the cool aid, but this seems like a good trend. A better trend would be total cold turkey, but it may be too late for that.
Yeah, I don't think social media is going to vanish anytime soon. The best we can do for now is try and aim for more healthy and positive iterations of it.
I was never on social media, discord was as close as I got, and I'm only semi competent there, lol. I've been bullied my whole life, and the first thing I said when it got popular was that it would become another place for bullies. I really hope this new platform is a fun and safe place. Best of luck, everyone. ❤
Thanks Sendarya for this live stream; I don't do social media myself but am very heartened that there is a significant movement to find a safe space away from Musk and his minions. As always, you do a real service and this community is awesome! Love from Canada💙💕
Thanks for the info! i stopped visiting Twitter many years ago, but I'll have to look into deactivating my account. I'll consider moving to Bluesky -- just for solidarity, since I don't care to be involved in that kind of social media (or maybe it'll turn out to be something I like, if it's not as toxic as the others are).
I'm from one of the "pre social media" generations so its not hard for me to stay away from Twitter X. A great movement would be to bring back letter/postcard writing ❤❤❤❤❤❤👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I've never done social media, seemed too toxic, and now the awful Musk is in the ascendant, I was worried his poisonous influence would spread. So well done Michael, and Sendarya you are brilliant for highlighting that people are moving in protest. I will tell my friends who are still on Twitter, and may just consider dipping a tentative toe in the water myself, on Blue Sky so thanks for the starter packs and help. It helps to feel we're not entirely powerless in the face of the Musks of the world. To the World!!!
Thank you for the starter packs! Bluesky seems nice. (However, I haven't left Twitter yet. Couple of my "comfort accounts" that I'm following are still there.)
Re generations - that goes both way folks! Younger folks ragging on boomers is a real issue and it makes me a little cray-cray. Cause people from marginalized communities were part of the boom and just like we were all young once, we'll all get old too. Ultimately the rule is, just be nice to each other.
If you’re older a boomer gen or gen X and don’t do “boomer” things like talking crap about young people just because they’re young or romanticise and forget the bad things that happened or were normal then, if you listen openly, if you acknowledge that your generation made some things worse and are not Oscar the grouch with every thing new… then you’re not a “boomer”. They use “boomer” for specific older people behaving badly, not for the whole generation. As a Xennial I use it for people in my generation too. We didn’t do what we were supposed to do and now we all are paying the price. The thing is even if we work for change the window we had we missed and now the future we will leave for them is worse. I know, we didn’t had many of the advantages of today like social media and internet back then. But we could have done better.
It is not "deadnaming" it, if you call it ex-twitter😅 it isn't twitter any more, but it is also silly to try to copyright a letter from the alphabet for your buisiness (username X is the Roman numeral 10, also the female sex chromosome, the placeholder for any name AND the variable in mathematics you have to find at school) X [number to follow] would be more appropriate😂
Though I get deactivating Twitter, I hated it for a long time and refused to get it, i recently got a twitter account. I met a friend in another fandom and they only post art there. I have decided not to use twitter much, and I also got as Bluesky account. Maybe in a few years I’ll end up deactivating my Twitter account.
Instagram is pretty positive when it comes to posts, but I've noticed reel comments are extremely hateful and bigoted, so id be wary when posting there
Having not used BS much in the last year, I can see there's some updates, but I'm not sure how to use them. Is there any good "guide" to using BlueSky? (For instance, I'm trying to find a listing of the people I'm following - but all I seem to get is a FEED of the people I'm following. Not sure where to find it.) Also, part of what's held me back from using BS much in the past was - I DO use these kinds of social media for fandom, but it seems like BS only allows "personal" accounts? Like, you can have an account under your own name/handle, but can you create/moderate an account FOR a show? Can there be OFFICIAL "show" accounts that the channel/studio can set up? I didn't think there could, and I think BS will suffer a bit regarding fandom until that sort of thing is allowed. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Excellent questions. Of course, even official accounts aren't really official on X anymore, since anyone can buy a blue checkmark. We can encourage "official" accounts to create Bluesky accounts simply by being there. They will go where the fans are, to get those sweet, sweet ad dollars.
@@Sendarya Yeah, I was using a Chrome add-on that showed me who was truly Verified, and who was just Paid. Of course, that was only for older accounts, since new 'verifications' didn't exist. But it helped sort the wheat from the chaff regarding older verified accounts. I really hope that official, non-personal entities can make accounts, because that's really the biggest part of what's been missing to let fandom migrate en masse. We enjoy show-based accounts, we enjoy fic-based accounts, and art-based accounts, etc - and none of those are 'personal'. We aren't just individuals talking to each other, but we also need "rooms" to congregate in.
The problem for me is geographic location- Blue Sky isnt available in Ireland/ NI as far as i know? I requested an invite a year ago but have never heard back from Blue Sky
Well maybe they don’t have enough users to expand their social media. Maybe with more people comin in and asking to be available in Tibet countries it could help to expand it
@kay-jay1581 ta for the input. I managed to haul Bluesky up here and sign up. A little trouble with display during verification but my acc is created. 👍
I just looked at the info on deactivating your x account. It says that after 30 days of non use it will be automatically be closed and your user name or what will be available. So what’s the best thing to do? Anyone?
Threads is pretty awful. It's basically just people complaining about random things. There also doesn't seem to be a lot of fandom activity on it. I'd recommend just getting an Instagram account instead and saying no to Threads.

Yep, it's beyond irony. Have been watching form across the Pond with my jaw dropped, scared, and sick at heart.

Yes i saw MS had posted on Blue Sky earlier today.

musk sucks. i left twitter when musk came. and thanks for this post . its important
Got my account started! Thanks for the starter packs!

I left twitter when Musk bought it. I joined Bluesky today.
Thank you for always discussing important news and updates=) Wishing you a wonderful day=3

Thank you so much for this news. I never used twitter/X, but I am going to join Bluesky. It sounds very interesting.

Yeah I hear ppl are moving there as an alternative to heavy surveillance apps i guess. I’m not educated on the subject I just read a comment section.

I haven't been on x since it stopped being Twitter, but I did just join Blue Sky! Still won't post much, probably!
Don't call it 'X' - not only because it's a silly name, also because Muks deadnames one of his children, so why not deadname his website?
Absolutely, 100% right!! Eff that guy.

I went on Twitter to support Good Omens. I will deactivate and consider Blue Sky. Thanks

im glad i don't have Twitter in the first place 😭 but I'm scared Instagram is becoming just as toxic and addictive because of the reels

Just joined

You no longer need an invitation, BlueSky is now open to everyone. You should be able to simply go here and create an account:
bsky.app/

I've never been on shitter. I tried once, but didn't found it accessible for me.
on bluesky, michael sheen or michael sheen source, are they both michael sheen?
No, only Michael Sheen is Michael Sheen. The other is a Michael Sheen news accounts

i dont trust tthat. google it to be sure
Let me look into locking, and I'll try and have something put together by my Thursday vid to share with people on the best way to get away from X
I've never liked and got into Twitter soooo I'm fine
i have not used my twitter in years. I do not even remember my name nor password. Soo...

I left Twitter right after Elon ruined it.
