The fact that his mother is defending him and trying to speak on his behalf is so infuriating. He is not an adolescent, juvenile and underage child he’s a consenting adult whose fiancée was murdered . He’s man enough to cover up the truth let him speak for himself.

How freaky would it be having some PI turn up and ask to search for blood in a car you recently purchased. It's like driving around with a ghost.

Unfortunately they don't have the luxury of convicting, trying and possibly ruining someone's entire life based on watching a TH-cam video, parroting back what someone else just said and sending them to jail for life. That is why they are doing that job and you are doing whatever you do. As it so happens, I agree that he was involved. I don't think he had help though. However I have done more than just look at youtube video's and still wouldn't be able to speak with your conviction, even though I have three sources of evidence pointing towards the same conclusion. You know, some parents have shown to be very deceptive in infant deaths, they would seem to be guilty, and can hardly answer a question if they were the cause of the death. To the public it seems they are killers and people have spoken like you and demanded death for them. However proper statement analysis reveals they are actually innocent, nothing they could have done. However they were on drugs, drunk or something else that would make them laid with guilt. Other cases is when someone is having an affair, and they seem the same, reluctant to co-operate etc. Turns out they are cheating, not murderers. Again, this is why you need training to make such harsh claims. By all means have an opinion, and say what you think. However saying as you do about the police is not being honest. I would put on a bet almost all detectives that have spoken to him, including the 911 operative who is trained to spot "Alibi building and guilty caller status" all think the same thing. Its not however conclusive enough proof to take someone's life, deprive a mother of a son or a father of a son. Even the guilty must be tried fairly.

UPDATE: As of 2017 the police have said they have a person of interest, but are not naming the person; & the 100,000.00 reward still stands.
Why is a grown man bringing his mom to an interview with a pi, its not even a real police officer interview? That seems odd to me, & the fact that his mom brought up a point her own son didnt; which was a valid point. But still, he seems like a mommys boy; or mom knows or has a hunch of what happened & wants to protect her son! I personally think the boyfriend did it, weather accidental or on purpose idk; & im not 100% sure that it was him. But he seems the most likely, out of everything from this episode & the 1st one.

I just have to say, I don’t like how the Fairfield Police Chief said that they and any other agencies did what was required. You can do what is required, but not actually be doing anything else to get the job done. You’re required to go to school as a child. You are supposed to try hard to pay attention and do class work, but it isn’t required. That statement says we did everything we are obligated to do in an investigation, but we didn’t really dig deep and try to solve this case.

It's frustrating when evidence points to someone pretty clearly, but the police somehow don't see why they should've investigated just a teeny bit more on the guy. It's crazy to say they did as much as possible, how can you say that when you didn't actually do all you could, such as search the car? That's kind of a standard thing...
Just admit you could've and should've done more and apologize for overlooking potential evidence. Own up to your mistakes and try to right the wrong in any way. It looks so much better than trying to say the officers did everything possible while investigating the #1 guy. It's painfully obvious due diligence was not completely done.

While I do agree that the bf is usually a viable suspect... I don't find it to be that obvious here. The fact that there are numerous things missing from the call log, even the 911 call, makes that log completely unreliable (also, how does that even happen?) as a piece of evidence. And all the questions the PI had could simply be answered with "he was her boyfriend, he had a key to her apartment, he drove by earlier in search of her". The only thing I find very obviously suspicious is the place where she was found.

The 911 call wasn't on the phone records?
Did anyone check to see if it was on his friend Matt's record?
After all, the blood was found in his car wasn't it?

Both him and his friend did it, its clear he had to call his friend to get him to help build himself up to make the call to her dad they had to rehearse the story he gives.!!! You can tell 1000 percent he did it..!!!!

Well his mom actually brought up a good point, the 911 call also didn't show on phone records. And as much as I think he is guilty that factor puts the rest of the records into question. Phone records is not an exact science mistakes happen all the time,in court it's about evidence no matter how much we think he is guilty and to me there is no choice but to question the records

Katelyn deserved better than this OBVIOUSLY shotty police work. I'm in awe of this police department, how on Earth can they claim to have done "everything modern officers can" That's bullshit. I feel so bad for her family. This man is not only a liar, but a bad liar & a killer!! Charge his mother too. Conspiracy after the fact. The friend, Matt, OBVIOUSLY assisted.

I think the murder of young girls is disgusting.that John has been bullying her it happens all the time thay want control of them all the time .that's why you should have a son who has hands and can deal whith people like John the bully .I mean that girl at the end of the day was a nice young kid and had her life in front of her.RIP young girl God bless family

Honestly, if my girlfriend disappeared after a carnival ended, I'd probably mention the carnies. They also travel state to state. I would bet big money that some of the carnies from my local annual church carnival have probably killed or abducted someone at some point in their life. They're all criminals, they don't have to take background checks and they never stay in one place long.
