Great video. I love the look of the V85. I almost got one in 2023, but a army green Pan America caught my eye and I love it, handles fantastic, and I use it as a commuter in Melbourne and touring the country roads.
I ride with a mate in North Queensland ( cairns area we’re I go for winter he has a pan America and loves it ) I do actually think that green does look great 👍, you will have to come for a ride up in Wodonga way sometime
I mounted the Givi engine guard on mine, very good quality, and probably the most protection of any of them. The only downside is I have to back off a few bolts when doing a valve adjustment, which adds a little time to the task. Still a long way from the 3 days, and a thousand nutsb, bolts and push pins( which always break) I had to endure with my Ducati. Another good video sir.
I can do the valve clearance by taking the rear bolt out of the tank and lifting it and holding it with a bit of work, tight for the rhs but its doable I think mine are GIvi
@@mvd944l I remove the tank bolt as well, but i find the Givi, which covers much more of the valve cover, is still difficult to lift out of the way, like you say, especially the right side.
The 2024 V7 also has catalytic converters in each exhaust side. The 2025 V85TT run extremely well STOCK with the single cat under the frame. I have zero issue with either bike except the V7 may be JUST a tad jumpy off idle cold where the V85TT seems to tolerate cold running better right after light-off.
@@Rower30-ye6qn my main reason for decat is heat reduction ( in hotter weather around feet ) Australian summers can get pretty warm . It’s a bonus in cooler weather. Also as a bonus is weight reduction and better sound .
Unfortunately manufacturers have to follow the EVER increasing emissions standards, so not their fault really . I’m amazed they are still keeping an air- cooled engine in production, the only other major manufacturer to do that is the Royal Enfield 650 engine. Most of my mods are to make bike ran smoother and cooler , which iv achieved. The power thing doesn’t concern me to much .
Nice overview about mods, some of them may make it to my V85TT. I can give you a feedback on the Guzzi comfort seat: bought a used one, but in my opinion wasn't much of a difference, so i sold it again
@@dmitrijr7065 Yes I once brought a Triumph 1050 Sport “ comfort seat “ MY ASS 😂😂” worse I’m sure . I find the standard seat ok but WAY better with wind rider cover .
Thanks for the videos. I'm considering one of these to complement my DR650 (which I will never sell). I'm in western Canada, and want something more longer distance touring oriented, but I still need some fair gravel capability. It sounds like the V85TT may be a good option.
@@andrewdunlop9930 , yes a good 👍 bike for light gravel roads “ just that right amount of travel for easy dirt 170mm from and rear . Simple air cooled engine ( like the DR ) I’m actually thinking of selling my Honda CRF 300 Rally and buying a 2003 Yamaha XT 609e for my more hard core stuff 👍
@RandomGRK Same experience here. My 2024 V7 STONE 10 runs cool as can be at even 95 F. My 2025 V85TT is SLIGHTLY warmer but in no way an issue. My V100S? Well, your leward side leg just cooks to the point of pain 80 F or above and 70 F in town. The V100S is a HOT house bike in the summer, better when it is COLD like in the 40's F. Since the V85TT and the V100S both have under seat catalytics, that's not the issue. It is the radiator on the V100S. Air cooled doesn't mean hot. Water cooled engines can run at a much higher and more controlled temperature for efficiency, that's good, but it is HOTTER on the rider. Air cooled need some flex as the ambient temperature is factored into the "air" that cools them. That said the V100S would run real close to the limit on the temp gauge in the summer in-town. Never seemed to cause an event but WOW, was there a lot of heat swelling up around you.
My wife and I have a pair or V85's , really enjoyed them, 20K miles since we bought them in 22, biggest issue was the dealer, since I started maintaining them they have been great. Really good informative video! Thx for sharing the mods to your bike, some really good ideas there! I have the 2021(also E5 spec) and I just love it - 20K miles now! Thinking of getting the VBoost - do I need to do the "decat" mod to utilize Vboost?
I removed the factory heated grips on my 2025 V85TT TRAVEL. Awful. I replaced them with Oxford PRO TOURING that are way, way, way better. While I was at it, I modded the throttle spring to have less return spring pressure. Check around for the You-Tubes on that. I also put the Oxford heated grips on my 2024 V7 STONE 850 Model 10. Same great performance. Oddly, the V85TT's seat heater can make pancakes out of your buns! WAY hot. I seldom go above "1". Weird the seat heater is so good and the heated grips are awful. They were awful on my V100S, too. Same design. Nothing till "3". Still, if it is 30 F you'll be squeezing them like you're on a flag pole on the top of the Empire state building trying to extract heat out of them. I experienced no heat issues on my 2025 V85TT compared to the V100S I traded (too hyper and "sport" bent for me). The V100S is REALLY hot above 80 F. Not so the V7 or ther V85TT. May be a relative thing. I really like the V85TT's ride, seated position and smooth accessible power. 80 HP is PLENTY for realistic stuff. I modded the bike at purchase to be a "strada" with cast wheels (lighter), no ugly bash plate, added the inner fender and a GIVI touring fairing to get stuff over my head.
I find the OEM heated grips fine for Australian conditions. Also I spend my winters up north in Australia we’re it’s warmer . So temp for me is not any lower than 6 degrees and 35max Summer . Also I like the indicator on the dash . But have used Oxford heated grips on other bikes for years a great 👍 product.
@itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449 Well, I have the Oxford PRO Touring heated grips on the V85TT but...the V7's throttle tube was the right O.D. (~25 mm) after you remove the small ridges to hold the stock grips. No problems after that. The V85TT with the Piaggio group (my 2025) switch gear for sure the throttle body tube is too big (26.25mm) an O.D. and you have to get creative and turn it down to fit a 25 mm spec. This isn't an easy thing to do for most people. Even a small amount, like 1 mil or so, is a REAL PAIN to do. Even as good as they are, I'd pass on this if you have the Piaggio groups controls (I know the 2025 V85TT are all going to be too big, 26.25mm, as will all the V100 series.) I sent a note to Oxford Products to see if they would add a ~26.25 mm grip I.D. to fit all the Piaggio group bikes (Moto Guzzi and Aprillia).

Yes agree , iv owned a Ducati Scrambler 800 , an Aprillia , Benelli 1130 Trek, and SWM , Plus 3 Triumph,s and loads of Jap bikes , most have an a few issues. I think people think back like in the 90,s and early 2000,s when Italian AND British bikes have some electrical issues. Theses days I think we’ll I must say KTM seems to have the most electrical problems now . Italian bikes generally are no worse theses days than Jap bikes in that area .
That single side shock and shaft drive has just got to be the most practical and accessible design combo of any motorcycle.
Yes VERY easy to access and even changing the shaft oil is easy and no chain maintenance.
Don't forget the super easy access to do the valve adjustments. This is how every motorbike should be built
