Sebakwe’s Lesson ~ Protect your loved ones with all your heart.
Named after a river in Zimbabwe, Sebakwe was born around 1985 and was part of the original herd that was rescued in 2002.
Physical Traits:
He is the dominant bull of the Jabulani herd and by far the biggest, tallest and widest (both from the front and from the rear). His tusks are beautifully developed and long and strong, with his left tusk longer than his right tusk which broke 18 months ago.
Personality:
While being a grand and striking bull, he is also tender and loving, and very protective of the herd. He has a strong presence and a well-tempered personality - qualities that led to him to be featured in previous marketing campaigns by the famous and much-loved South African cream liqueur, Amarula.
Sebakwe is really part dolphin! His favourite time of the day is when the elephants take time out from foraging to swim in one of the dams. If there is a tree trunk in the vicinity, that will be his chosen swimming toy. He always has a stick of some sort in his mouth while playing in the water, like a big kid with a pool noodle!
Sebakwe loves to spend as much time as possible with Setombe, the oldest of the females, as they are real bosom buddies. He shares his part of the stables with Setombe and Klaserie.

Such a majestic, gentle giant.He has such gentle eyes....that have probably seen many utterly heartbreaking times. Thank you all at HERD for giving this wonderful bull a safe, protected life...away from the poachers & those that abuse them......thousands are still trapped , working in appalling ,abusive logging camps & used as circus & entertainment, tourist rides,.We owe a lot to those saving , these fast becoming endangered species. If the poaching doesn’t stop...just 2/3 generations forward , are only ever going to see them on TV /in books...as they become extinct. Just heartbreaking ❣️🇬🇧🏴

He really loves Adine. It was incredible how relaxed he became when he got up to her. He has alot of intelligence. It is amazing how he remains with the HERD instead of going off to other elephant herds to mate, and has such a protective feeling for the HERD. He is so so strong and big.

Beautiful gentle giant. They all are, which makes it even more barbaric that they’re hunted just for their tusks. It really really makes me so angry. Such beautiful relatively harmless creatures. So sad and maddening.
