    @Redskull I don't think you're aware of this, but in most recent versions of android (including current pie), the battery stats don't show up by pressing the battery icon you were repeatedly tapping at 1:35. You need to press the overflow button (three vertical dots at the top right) and tap "battery usage."

Its loud when I have it on speaker taking, listen to movies or audio books. I am putting all my work software on it my tech guys are amazed with it. • @the.internet
      @the.internet 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, they activate spyware, ads, malware on their phones after a certain time and send rogue updates. They lie about specs. Not to be trusted. But if you're ok with rooting and running a custom ROM and hoping that Magisk will continue to get around Google Safetynet (to be able to use the NFC etc) then you can generally get a good bargain on Doogee imports. Personally I'd be very wary though. I doubt it's any coincidence that they stripped the battery stats out of the stock ROM reviewed here in order to stop your average person from questioning their claims.

    • @ossianmacurcrin7883
      @ossianmacurcrin7883 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@the.internet Absolutely agree. I've got a Doogee and it was fine for the first month, then all the ads and malware crap started.
      I eventually restored it to factory settings and it was like a new phone.... Alas after a month or so, the same ads, pop ups etc started happening again. Oh, and it also likes to randomly disconnect itself from the Wi-Fi. I'm replacing it next week and then the doogee is going to be smashed into a million pieces. Avoid this pre-infected rubbish at all costs if you value your sanity!

    • @the.internet
      @the.internet 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ossianmacurcrin7883 yeah man I forgot to mention connectivity problems too - both WiFi and Bluetooth for me on stock ROMs. Bluetooth range was almost non existent, as if an antenna wasn't connected, and WiFi was sporadic. Often would appear connected but there'd be no data transfer until you were right on top of the router.
      There are way better cheap Chinese manufacturers that put out insanely cheap phones who don't outright lie about specs and worse cook malware timebombs into their firmware. The Doogee I've just been messing with (family members old phone) is on Android 5 which I rooted and debloated. They released an Android 6 update to their stock ROM and every thread on XDA etc was filled with people saying they'd updated and their phone had become unusable, filled with ads, text message scams costing them money etc etc. Fuck that.
      I had a Vernee M5 I got for less than £90 for months this year which I used all over Europe. The only thing it really lacked was a decent camera, everything else was more than adequate. It got a load of updates but never got beyond Android 7 officially (which is fine) and all in all was an amazing budget phone. I only gave it away to a family member because their expensive Sony fucked up and I got myself a Sharp Aquos S2 which is probably the best budget phone of the year (but hard get hold of now!). So yeah, Vernee exaggerate specs, have no support, give up on their phones after a few months - but you *do* potentially get a good budget product. They're an example of a decent enough budget Chinese manufacturer. Fuck Doogee.

    • @ossianmacurcrin7883
      @ossianmacurcrin7883 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@the.internet Aye, that all sounds tragically familiar. What I don't get is how any manufacturer can think that selling pre-infected/timed malware, is good business sense!

    That is really bad battery life. I have a Moto play z2 with the turbo power battery mod. (Total battery size 5000mah)And I get 28 hours of heavy use. The Chinese phones are sub par especially if you live in North America. They usually don't have LTE support.

    • @RedskullPro

      North America being the US? Here in Canada we get 4G with 95% of them :)

      @@RedskullPro yes I'm located in Canada with Fido. I bought the ulephone power 3 and I could barely get any service with it for call or texting. And could only get 3g data. I had upgraded from a LG g3 at that point. The phone looked good but really they give you a big battery but the CPUs aren't very well used compared to Qualcomm chips.so these phones that have the big battery isn't an upgrade. They need the big batteries to match regular sized ones of oem brands.
      I really like the rugged aspect of the unit in your video, and it's a great video. To be honest I looked at a few of your videos in the past when I was shopping around. But I find that most videos do lack telling people that might not have had an upgrade in years, that battery size doesn't matter as much now because of the advancement in Qualcomm chipsets.

    • @mrchrisknight315
      @mrchrisknight315 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have also in the past tried the yotaphone 2. I loved the e ink display, but again battery life was sub par. Using the e ink display didn't really help that much with battery life. I know this is now going off topic from discussing the unit in your video. And I get that we people don't want to spend the money on oem flagship phones. But there are some good gently used units up for grabs, that will perform much better then the Chinese phones.

    Problem is Doogee is very Dodgee. Phones seem ok but they are useless at after sales service and follow up. Check out the Doogee Facebook page. They are not responding to people who are asking when the next update for their phone is. I have a Doogee and they won't respond either on FB or to emails.

      @@b_wellyn probably, problem is they market their phones in English, they give out English emails. I think maybe they just don't give a sheet once they've got your money and don't expect people to complain. I don't have a problem with the phone, but the follow up service sucks big time. Avoid Dodgee.

      @@RedskullPro My S60 ended up lagging more than my fiance's. For that model they also advertised Stereo speakers, but you can tell by covering up the grills that there is only one.
      The camera is advertised as being really great, but under most indoor lighting conditions the colors come out wrong, the detail isn't great, and snapping a picture of anything that might move is impossible, because it takes too long to shutter.
      The battery life is pretty good, but at 15% (which is still like an hour of SoT or more, and much more Idle) the flashlight wont turn on, even if you turn off Battery Saver.
      They were supposed to make an Oreo ROM update for the s60, but never did.
      My fiance washed hers now and then, but recently the rubber flap covering the headphone port failed, and it got wet thanks to our son dunking it in the bath.
      Now the battery dies quickly, and everything on that phone runs slower.
      She also had problems with the charge port getting looser and looser until she had to jam a piece of paper in with the cable to get it to charge.
      We're back to using our Honor 8s until we can save some money for some newer phones.
