I've also been here since not too long before the 2013 WCC. I really love Jerry's style both in the analysis and the live bullet arenas. Many other channels are too focused on drama and clickbait for me.
Me too, but occasionally since I don't have time for much chess. And I'm no good at it anyway, I just like it! And this is the best channel for me for sure. I note that Mr. C. N. Etwork is so ill tempered that he begins every single video with a curse word that has to be bleeped.
Jerry , your explanation of the Knight move difference (26… Nac5 or Ndc5) was top notch !! Appreciate your efforts to provide a detailed recap of each game which stands a bar above all the other recaps of WCC on TH-cam 👏👏 !!
As always, thank you so much for your analysis. I really don't think I would be able to understand the WC games if not for you, you go into the significance of each move and the lines the players were going for or trying to avoid. I've tried multiple online commentaries and youtube channels but none of them break it down as well as you do.
The live commentators have their entertaining moments. One who has played in the Candidates Tournaments said that Qd2 is to be played. "But just to be on the safe side, I'd play Rb1 first." The next second Ding Liren made that move, and the AI bar dropped to game lost. "What??" Live is just for fun on my level (if one is nerdy enough). This channel is much better for me understanding some of the chess. Extremely efficient, actually! If this guy posted videos on a completely unrelated topic, I'd have a serious look at that too whatever it would be about. Because here we have an intelligent, careful, efficient guy. Immediately employable. "- Congratulations, you got the job!" "- What job?" "- Just pick the job you want!" "- Then I'll take your job." (Sooo fired)
Love your reviews. This WCC has been such a treat so far. There are innovations, opening subtleties and clock pressure. These game runs like thriller and even when players make mistake, they do not crumble. Literally every endgame so far has been a study in tactics.
This WCC is the first I've ever watched, I thought GM level chess would be completely inpenatrable for a beginner, but these recaps make it make so much sense! I'm learning lots, thank you, Jerry
excellent analysis as always, thanks Jerry. I was scratching my head over the difference between Nac5 and Ndc5, but I knew you'd explain. :) The dynamics are really interesting in this match. Ding lacking confidence and often "bagging" for a draw, while Gukesh tends to overestimate his position a little bit. It will be interesting to see how this spans out in the end.
Gukesh's bravery and confidence is clearly on display in this tournament, demonstrated through his willingness to enter very sharp lines for both himself and his opponent!
As usual, simply superb! Thanks Jerry! Your commentary on the WC matches is truly outstanding. The explanation helps understand the nuances of the game. Wonderful game, a terrific fight! People should applaud these two fighters instead of sitting at home and seeing the eval bar with engine and thinking in a parallel universe that they can play these games. These two people are giving it all, so let's appreciate them; I think in the game 9, Gukesh is going to win. Let's see the recap today; Thanks again Jerry.
Great thumbnail! This position caught my eye too Both the most iconic position exemplary of a WCC Match, and seemingly a 800 ELO game at the same time .
Thanks again for a excellent analysis of that game, it could not have been explained any better than you just did. Keep up the good work. Looking foreword to your covering of the next game. DEVELOPMENT OF THE MIND CAN BE ACHIEVED ONLY WHEN THE BODY HAS BEEN DISCIPLINED. --- MASTER KAN Jerry you have a well developed mind.
I've gotta say, the draws in this match have been very, very hard-fought. If these guys are also playing a bit "scared", at least in the openings, they must already be close to exhausted. Another great analysis, Jerry. Thanks.
I know my opinion counts for little when commenting on two of the very best chess players in the world, so what I have to say is not personal to these players. Computer chess' influence on human play is what I'm commenting on. For me these games are boring the same way watching the 1,000 games Deep Mind's Alpha Zero vs Stockfish would be boring (not the 20-30 games we all got to see, they were amazing) because out of 1,000 games there were 875 draws. That off my chest, let me say to Jerry, you are making excellent lemonade out of these games so thank you very much. Your presentations go so far beyond "just checking off the boxes." To correctly state a well known aphorism, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating, not the recipe." Hail Jerry, the Puddingmeister! :^)
This tournament has some great entertainment! Magnus Carlsen was the winning machine, but in my opinion he was not as interesting, at least for me as a novice.
Who else has been following Jerry for over a decade and would love to know how he looks like. I would put Jerry, who is not a GM, in the same category as Gustaffson, Leko, Svidler, Yasser, King as one of the best chess ambassadors.
In the press conference afterwards, Ding Liren got the question if he knew that sacrificing the A2 pawn was the best move, because all prominent chess analysts in media and online were very impressed that he found that exotic computer move! "- I miscalculated. I thought I could defend the pawn."
"Create dilemmas, not problems." In bad positions and under time trouble, Ding seems to have mastered this strategic principle. He makes suboptimal moves in the eyes of the engine, but they complicate the position such that the correct continuation is hidden under a jungle of forced lines. And in these positions Gukesh has failed multiple times in this match to accurately convert advantageous positions into wins. Ding has shown great resilience but he needs to put himself in the driver's seat soon or Gukesh will break through soon.
I really hate it when players like Magnus refuse a draw in very clearly even and simplified positions, but this has now been 3 games at least where Ding has looked for a draw with still plenty to play for. I don't get it. Is he seriously trying to draw every game from here until the speed chess rounds?
I think the quality is actually higher than the Carlsen-Nepo and also the Nepo-Ding matches, but lower than the other Carlsen matches (especially Carlsen-Karjakin and Carlsen-Caruana)
Afraid to win - psychobabble nonsense, but highly indicative and appropriate for the time we live in. We can say the stopidest things online because we have nothing to lose. Like the guy here saying that 4000 ELO engines do not understand the human player. Perhaps the strongest human, but one that's just 30 ELO higher than 3 other human players. Magnus proly still _is_ on another level, but not on a whole another level. That's nonsense.

Simplicity. You take a complex game and make it easy to understand the problems each move can create. Well done Jerry

Very good explanation of the complexity in the positions, thank you!

One of the best in world chess games
Can't the bishop take the B pawn at 23:56? Am I missing an obvious flaw or is is it just an alternative to the queen move?
Queen takes on the 1st rank gives black the slight advantage.... of winning the game

I thought White developed clumsily in the center. Amazed how little the white queen impacted the game.

I think this is TOP LEVEL ENGINE GAME
Theres some mistake on both player ,even in move 25 gukesh has around -2 advantage
I feel like the position they're in at the time of the draw would favor white though.
8:12 that's the funniest way I've ever seen the move d4 be played
d3 could also have been played.

Even when being shown the correct move with Ndc5, Gukesh had no clue that it was a good move at all. Disappointed. He doesn't have what it takes.
