IM GOING TO GET LESSONS FROM U SOON❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Why are their tails cropped so short?
No-one compares to Belle, she is the most likable and kind mare also she gifted you Ezze her gorgeous filly
Was that by a gelding?
I grew up on a farm in central New York State. My neighbors had huge black Percherons. Whenever we had a lot of snow and the snowplows and tractors got stuck, they would hitch up Molly and Dick and they would pull out whatever was stuck, even though the snow came 1/2 way up their chests. Gentle giants indeed. I liked to get on a big glacial rock in their field, and Molly would come over so I could climb on her back. Her back was so broad, I could just lie down and gaze at the sky. My Mom would holler, “Bobbi, get off that horse”, so I would grab the ropes of her mane and drop to the ground. Then get back up there later on. 😊 I consider that growing up on a farm was the gift of my life, and those horses were my angels. They lived to be very old.
Most of the horses at this auction had a 'soft eye', which indicates a gentle disposition.
@barbarabernstein5887 great memories with precious horses
@@barbarabernstein5887
You had the best childhood 🐴👍
Beautiful story about how you grew up!
Thanks for sharing that! Beautiful memory. ❤
As a European, i am shocked to the core to see so many horses with amputated (sorry, i dont know the good word) tails. This has been forbidden over here for decades.
Same goes for auctions, but here they were really bad, what i see on your vids are most good circumstances for the horses. Am i like going to auctions with you virtually.❤
I know :(
@@freespiritequestrian Tough to watch but appreciate the information. Docked tails...horrible.
I know. The amputated tail, IMO, is nothing short of abuse. Think of the trauma. Completely unacceptable to me. I have now begun doing some research into this topic.
@@elizabethbordeaux2741 I remember being at a big show show in Phoenix Az & one lady who had show "silkies" was saying how the ones who did not have their tails docked could get around her porch patio little brick wall much, much better & easier with their tails. So....there you have it. Tails bring balance & are useful.
@@elizabethbordeaux2741 - while I don't disagree with your thoughts on docking the tail, the argument for docking the tail is that it prevents the working horse from getting caught up in the horses gear. When that happens the horse can be killed or seriously injured. I've read that now days it is discouraged in certain draft breeds in the US. Imagine how beautiful those premium horses would have been with a flowing tail?
Woah this was a rough auction to watch. The docked tails, heavy shoes, and banging on the Horse's mouths with chains is such a sad sight.
Thank you Shae for all your videos on soft teachings 💖🐴
[Edit: corrected spelling mistake]
I totally agree. It made me sad and I can only hope and pray that they all got good homes and were treated well. 🙏🐎
Not everyone will agree, but, this once again is a male-dominated industry. Taking horses out of their natural state and forcing them to have unnatural gates for the sake of performance. (Yes, women are also part of the big-lick shameful treatment.)
I agree. I wish they didn't have docked tails. I get why they dock tails, but they can always tie up the tails instead. And the tugging on their mouths, so sad. Beautiful horses though.
really sad. Usually I have a lot of fun with those auction videos but this one made me feel sad. So much mistreatment going on that's just accepted at those big auctions. But I guess there is a reason why most rescues are draft horses - they just rarely get respect despite being gentle giants.
@@mintywolfcrafts i couldn't watch much of it either
Beautiful huge babies. I didnt care for the way they were treating them in the ring. But enjoyed seeing all of them. Thank you for taking us with you again.
Agree! ❤
Same here. 😊 L
Totally agree. They are acting like they are showing Friesians at a Kettering. These are DRAFT horses, they don't' have that high step action of a Friesian to start with. They are not bred to have that front action so why try to create it? I think that Mare was stunning, but she would have looked better just trotting her natural trot without all the hoopla.
you didnt care about the shitty way they were treating those horses??
@leaaguiardallalian7702 that's what the commenter meant. She didn't care for the way they were being treated, meaning she didn't like it
Some of those prices were mindboggling. Also not a fan of how they show the horses. I don't understand why they pull on the lead the whole time and they were running just fine without being chased by someone with a whip. I can understand why you don't want a giant horse, but I would love that! They are beautiful horses and often very sweet. Thanks for taking us with you, much love 💖
😮 $165 thousand wow, absolutely stunning looking horses Shae, the thing I hate is the docked tails, makes me feel sad, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
Crazy right.
@@freespiritequestrian Abusive-no other word for it. I'm glad you have shown a light on this abuse.
I’m shocked it’s not a stallion. I’ve never seen a price like that on a gelding unless it’s a racehorse.
Hi Shae! Beautiful horses! I just wish they would just leave horses alone and just let them be who they are ❤
I would lose my mind at an auction with horses this big! I LOOOOVE huge horses!!! 17+ hands would be my dream!!!❤️❤️❤️
Mine also..., being 6.2 myself. 😂
I hate the amputated tales though... 😢
@@emmanx011 me too. It’s terrible and awful🙏
As someone who is learning to drive drafts🐴, I appreciate your 🎥 of this 🐴auction. I’m glad I have a driving instructor who incorporates natural horsemanship - no whips or chains included: he also has padded harnesses to help avoid skin 🐴irritation. Thanks for always putting an emphasis on positive horse training: your horses clearly respond well to it, and it’s an inspiration for riders, drivers and enthusiasts.
I think we need to see Shae up on a huge 18hh draft horse at least ONCE on this channel. 😁 I grew up around Amish country and always loved seeing the teams of horses in the fields. We lived right behind the local fairgrounds and always went to watch the draft horse carriage competitions/shows and they were INCREDIBLE!! I think that’s what gave me a soft spot for these gentle giants my whole life. They really are magnificent. Thank you for showing us this auction Shae!! 🫶
The color of the $165k horse 🐎 was stunning! Thanks for taking us along 🤩
That horse was STUNNING!!
was this guy that sold for $165k a stud? He must have well known bloodlines and perhaps the big price is because he is stud? and that whomever bought him wants to inject his bloodlines into their own breeding program. At least when horses sell for lots of money I'd like to think that they will be getting top notch care so that they can compete, and if mare or stud can improve owners bloodlines.
I could have sworn I heard the auctioneer say he was a gelding. But that makes no sense.. had to be a stud.
@claudiadickerman4218 Sorry, don't remember what was said whether stud or gelding. I was probably simply focused on watching him run in the ring. Beautiful 😍
@KateSmith-j3m I heard gelding as well! Maybe the buyer just had the finances available and fell in love with him!
I love watching your videos because I always learn something new
this was fascinating. That horse that sold for $165k was beautiful.
Just wish they would leave their tails alone
yeah, I hate when they cut their tails super short.
I absolutely agree with you. Tails should not be docked. And the same with dogs' ears and tails.😢
@@lindafontaine7817 they chop off chickens beaks so they won't peck other chickens. Animal abuse sucks on every level.
Yea it’s quite hard to keep the flys away when u barely have a tail I mean god didn’t just give horses the tails for no reason it’s so the can shoe away the flys
@@PawLet_144 that’s disgusting. I have chickens, imagining their beaks mangled disgusts me. How terrible.
Massive horses. WOW !! One of those would never know Kyle was on him lol.
Too funny. 😅 L
That is the chunkiest baby horse ever! 😍😍😍😍 I was not expecting that when he turned around! 😆😆
😂🤣
I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!
Lol..
Such a "Suprise-Chunk" ❤
Me too. I was laughing. 😊 L
@@emmanx011 yeah it caught me off guard I was looking at the mama 😆
He was ridiculously adorable! I wasn't expecting that either!
It is actually sad. It is a great example of human beings breeding for ego at a great expense to the long term health of animals.
I have never been to a draft horse auction, that was amazing. I live in AL and the majority of auctions here have AQH, Appaloosa, Tennessee Walker, with some Arabians and Paso Fino. I am now 68, had 2 horses in the past, AQH and Polish Arabian and no longer own or ride. Thank you for bringing me and other horse girls along to auctions and on your journey.
Wow that was amazing. I have never seen a horse other than a thorough bred ( with great breeding) go for that much. Thank you Shae for taking us along.
A lot of really beautiful horses and loved that u brought us along😍but it makes me sad to see so many with docked tails. In Sweden we cut the tails of the drafts when they work and pulls carage or is working in the woods to not let the tail get caught in anything, but never docking the tail. 😢
But thank you Shae, for educating us❤
@evabj100. Docking tails is illegal here in Germany and even the UK.
Jag vet!!
Hemskt att se 😢
Dom gör detsamma med hundar's svans, här i USA.
Gör mig så ARG !!
🤬
@@emmanx011 ja, jag vet, man blir både ledsen o arg😢 hoppas det snart kommer förbud om det till USA oxå 💕
That stallion was perfect! Rusty coloring, beautiful mane, sweet demeanor:)
Thank you for being you! It’s very interesting to see all sides of the equestrian world, but I’m so glad you train with your heart! You would never do any of those things to your own horses and we all know it!! It’s why we love your videos!😊
❤️❤️❤️
Love Halfingers, Friesians and the Belgians, Clydesdales & Percheron & the like❤❤❤❤❤
I get more joy watching you work with the fillies!
Holy Moly! Some beautiful horses and sell prices!
Majestic is the only word for these horses.
I have an overactive imagination - I could see some of those horses with armoured knights on board, bits jangling, snorting fire. Can you just imagine being a foot soldier in those days having to face a line of a hundred or so of these huge animals thundering towards you? The horse of the huge price would have been fit for a king! Thank you Shae, a most entertaining video, ❤ from Scotland - I went to a Clydesdale foal show last week!
I was thinking the same thing.
I love draft horses ❤❤❤
That first Stud has one one the most amazing color pattern combinations I've seen. The gorgeous tail, mane and feathers combined with his docile attitude would make him the perfect horse, if only he was a gelding.
WOW…Thanks for the journey. Have a Great Day!
I had a hard time watching this tbh. Beautiful horses, but weighted feet, docked tails, the janking in their mouths, seeing the stress in them in the ring...
You were probably one of the few kind moments in their day, Shae...
I know :/
@@freespiritequestrianit was sad😢
People can be so cruel to animals, and this auction reinforced my views on this.
What’s the stated purpose of the second person in the back running behind and the purpose of yanking on their mouth and having the short whips up by their heads? It looked like all of them were doing it. I’ve never seen this type of auction.
I love these gentle giants. Imagine galloping them arond 🤩. Thanks for showing from Germany!
I own one, and galloping on her is amazing!
Wow!! $165k so glad we got to witness that sale with you that's unbelievable, but that horse was beautiful all of them are they all deserve a chance ❤️ thank you so much for including us! Sending hugs from Canada 🇨🇦
Love your videos Shea! I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of months and they have helped me keep sane while I wait to get my own horse!
THE 449 horse was AMAZING! I'm shocked that he didn't bring more. I wish that your videos had been available before I bought what turned out to be my last horse. I would NOT have bought her and we both would have been much happier. The education that you give will save people heartache and money, for sure.
That was some kind of a ride!!! Thanks for bringing us along! That 165k horse was SO beautiful...magnificent!❤!❤!❤!❤
Enjoyed seeing all these different horses. I can't believe the prices!
The $165,000 horse looked and moved like a super-sized version of a hackney pony. Absolutely stunning! So glad you let us come along, Shae. So many beautiful horses at this one ❤
Thanks Shae, loved watching this auction. Never saw this before.
Thank you, Shae for taking us along. I learn so much about the types of horse auctions in the Midwest. ❤
Always enjoy your videos👍🏼🐴⭐️
Now that, was a whole lotta horse! The size of these horses is amazing and they're sooooo beautiful. I really enjoyed this video because you gave me a different perspective on the sheer size of them. I'm 5'4, so I have some inches on you, but those inches hardly matter with these guys! Thanks for taking us along.❤
Absolutely beautiful they were. I love draft horses the most. That chocolate horse was absolutely awesome. Their size is what draws me in.
Oh my goodness!! Never in my lifetime have I seen such an expensive horse!! Thank you for taking me along for the auction. Loved looking at all the beautiful horses.❤❤❤
Weighing down their hooves doesn't appear kind as they already carry all the weight of a huge body. It's not natural. I just love the larger horses .Another great adventure Shae. Imagine riding a horse way bigger than Lumi ? 🤠
I always think to myself it is a good thing that the majority of the big draft breeds are friendly and sensible. An animal that big could really do some damage in a variety of ways. I always feel so heartbroken for the run of the mill Belgians that come off of Amish farms and are at auctions by the hundreds, so many of them have been worked to the brink, not trained for anything except pulling farm implements, many are not farrier friendly so their hoofs are broken down, and when I watch Pony Tales Rescue I always say a prayer for their farrier Paulie that he will not be badly injured as he does his best to help these rescues with their feet problems. I am scared one day, one of them will explode while he works on them in the stocks that is obvious they were not trained to, I chew my fingernails watching. So many Belgians go to slaughter it is really sad.
Well that was certainly a new experience 😂.
I would have loved to know more about that 165K horse and what makes him so special.
I would, as well. Also, what do they do to the tais, and why? I really enjoy that you give your perspective all through the video. Thanx!😊✝️🇨🇦🦓
Oh I love your auction videos. This one was intense! The top horse was breathtakingly beautiful! Can’t wait for the next one!
This should be another very informative activity regarding draft horses and draft crosses. Anything Shae shares is worth taking the time to follow bc of the wealth of her knowledge. Thx for bringing us along to this auction Shae and family! 🥰👍💗💗💗
What’s with the stubby tails?
@
I hate that the dock their tails. Just like they do with some breeds of dogs.
I believe the practice started from the farmer when walking behind a horse with a plow for plowing and cultivating crops.
That was a fantastic Horse Sale to attend for seeing so many huge, beautiful draft horses! And that $165,000 horse!!! I'd almost be afraid to be the person driving it home for fear of keeping it safe! Thank you for bringing us along and I'm also excited to see that next horse auction you are talking about!
I've always loved the Belgian and Percheron teams because my Grandad was a lifelong horseman which included buying and selling those amazing horses for teams. Even in his retirement years, he kept a beautiful team on hand to pull his grandkids and family around the farm in wagons and sleighs during family gatherings. One of my favorite memories as a child was when we had a family float in a Centennial Parade that was pulled by Grandad and his huge Belgian horse team. Everyone from Grandma and Grandad and their children, down to their great grandchildren were riding on it ... we had so much fun!
If you like Belgians, I hope you watch Julie of Fletcher Farms, she rescues them. The herd is 30+ now.
What a beautiful memory. Luv those Belgians. 😊 L
Shea thank you for treating your horse's kindly. 🩷🐎
I love that your horses are willing and eager to please. No horse should have to be intimidated to perform 😢
I love watching the auction's but this one was a little rough.
I agree 👍 💯 😢
Thank you for taking us along for this ride to the auction. I loved seeing these wonderful horses and learning some things. The auction was unreal!!!!!!
Wow. Even if I was rich I can't imagine paying that much for a horse! You would have to buy insurance on them. Thanks for taking us to a VERY different auction.
I mean. Insurance for all pets is a great idea.
I love drafts. I have a Peruvian Paso/Belgium draft cross. I enjoyed this auction. The horses all looked so healthy & well-cared for.
So excited to see what you might buy!
WOW Shae, think what you could buy for $165,000👀
Majestic! ❤ thank you
I love these auction videos so much, draft horses are so cute
Woohoo! That last Percheron was fabulous! I could never justify paying that much for a horse. But man, o man, was he a stunner!
I love looking at all the horses. ❤❤❤
thanks for taking us with you 😀
My mind is absolutely blown by the price on that last horse!!! He was stunningly gorgeous, but that price! 😳😵💫 I've always loved draft breeds and large horses in general. I can see why Budweiser breeds their own Clydesdales! Cheaper in the long run. Thank you for taking us along. Very educational... I loved it! ❤
Loved this video. Had to watch it multiple times. Shae...I would've loved to see you ride one of the big Percherons to see the contrast of your small frame against the big bodies of those beautiful horses.
I’d be scared hahaha 😂
Did you glimpse the lady on a step ladder combing the horse's forelock?
OMGoodness!! What a rush! I can't imagine the energy in that building! Thank you for the experience.
OMG, that second huge dapple grey held its head so elegantly. So gorgeous.
I hate it when their tails are docked. It looks cruel. Horses need their tails.
Sadly they need to either dock them or tie them up due to the risk off them getting caught and injured whilst pulling carriages. I think they just cut the hair on the tails short so it will grow back if you let it. But god I just saw that big black in the bidding ring being trotted around and the grey after and they clearly have had their tails cut through the bone. That is awful 😢
A horse's tail does not grow back.
Agreed. And those horrible shoes! It's all legal abuse 😢
@@AnimalLoving-24tail docking actually does mean they amputate a late portion of the horse' tail bone ( which is an extension of the spine), and it is absolutely not necessary to do to a horse nowadays. A tail can be wrapped or braided when the horse has to perform farm work. Tail docking really should be banned here in the US. Horses need them!
@@kated9914aww. I thought they just cut the tail and it would grow back😡
Gosh, Shae…you’re looking lovelier than ever! Love those shape glasses on you, the hairstyle & very pretty lipstick colour on you; wow!
That jacket looks fab too😊
As to this ‘very big’ horse sale😮
Wowsers! Thank you for taking us along too❤
Thanks for taking us along! Very interesting to watch.
Shae, those horses all seem to know how much you love them and how kind you are.
Love Percherons!!!❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you so much for this video!!! I learn so much from these auction videos!!
The joy I felt when I saw there was a new auction video! I am connecting to my living room tv screen 😊
Such beautiful animals! That was a really exciting and educational video. ❤🐎🐎🐎🐎
$165000 Wow!!! Beautiful horse!! Thank you for sharing 🐴❤
The prices were incredible. Very interesting, I don’t know much about drafts.
Super excited!
$165,000! Very nice show, Thank you for sharing❤
My Dad had a pair of blacks, King and Don. They were the reason I fell in love with horses.
Another form of cruelty. Heavy iron to force an uncommon movement. Very sad what mankind does to animals. Makes me appreciate what you do for horses even more. Thank you.
I don’t love that part either
@Revtyme7 i agree, it was a little hard to watch knowing the difficult lives those beautiful animals endure. Well I think there is a special hell for animal abusers. And this surely is
...and the amputated tails... 😢
Shea is a horsewoman. The wealthy owners of these auction horses are businesspeople. Likely, their only connection with these horses is monetary.
Look up 'big lick horses" that is far far worst than what we are seeing in this video and something being done in America.
I know a gal who got a Percheron yearling, and raised it to eventing! She is a beautiful, smart, capable horse! ❤
Ouu!! Just made my mama day.Barn Chores are done,All kids are happy and fed.Inside and out outside the house..Now to bunker down in jammies with snacks and off to the auction with you I go.❤😅
Sounds like a good day to me. 😊 L
You're a great mom!
I am so obsessed with the big beautiful drafts .. 😊
Yes!!! 😊 L
Wish I felt better about the lives of some of these horses. I've seen rescued Amish horses that break your heart
I too am brokenhearted for the Belgian in particular that come off Amish farms, they work them to death, not all of the Amish do, it seems the younger generations are doing a better job in caring for their work horses and I also see fewer abused Amish buggy horses these days. The wealth of videos and the internet in general has helped push the Amish into much better care and training, but sadly there are still hundreds in auctions that go to slaughter. Sad
WOW that was a different auction and the drifts were so so big but stunning I love the auctions thanks for taking me along ❤ can't wait for another auction ❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Shae! So interesting! 🤎
Shea the horses are so tall its as if you’re strolling around on your knees. I just love big horses!
OMG how much fun this is!! Thanks for sharing!😊
I want to thank you for being a GREAT example on f how to train your hourses with love, patience and time.
We wnt to the Gypsy Vanner national championship in Texas yesterday and there was a girl wanting her horse to backup up which he apparently did not want to so she proceeded to hit him pretty hard in the chest. It made me wonder what she does at home.
So thank you for showing us it can be done without hitting
😢
Fascinating! 🎉
What a different kind of auction. I can't believe how they run the horses. I really did Love that Dapple Gray Stud, he was Gorgeous. That one horse that went for so much money, Oh my gosh, that was nuts. I really Love the Clydesdale breed. They are a Gorgeous horse. They are big but so beautiful . Enjoyed video, can't wait till the next one.
I would LOVE to see a miniature horse sale.
Wow! He is an absolutely be-beautiful horse! Thank you for bringing me along for the ride. My heart is still pumping.❤❤❤❤
beautiful horses but I'm very sad to see they cut their tail. It's forbidenn in europe since more than 20 or 30 years. It's very painful for horses and there is no reason to do that... Maybe, you could say one or thwo word about that. Not everybody know that...
I feel the same
Agreed 👍 🤝 😢
Same feeling for docking dogs' tails.
The same with dogs' ...
Abuse for sure! 😢
Love hearing your commentary. Thanks for posting.👍
That was amazing to watch. Wow
Crazy, how big and tall some of those horses were. Beautiful too!
Love going to auctions with you.!!!!! YAY😊
Not this one because of the abuse of the animals.
@nancyduncan5810 I do agree w you. I wrote that before I watched. It's so hard to think that some people treat animals like that and think it's ok. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Haven't been to an auctions in decades. Last one was a draft horse/mule auction, and we came home with a puppy. Perhaps that's why we've not been back? LOL Anyway, when I saw the black Percherons in your vid, you said the same thing I did when I saw them at the auction years ago. Black is one of my all-time fav colors, on anything, so a black Percheron is heavenly. Thanks, Shae!
Haha!
That was fun and very interesting to watch. Great energy at the sale and gorgeous horses! Thank you for sharing and driving all that way Shae 🌺
Not fun to me to see the abuse.
