Hi, if I used lactose free milk still have to put apple cider vinegar? And can I use lemon juice instead of apple cider?

Milk can be very bad for dogs!! Just like people, they can and often are lactose intolerant. This can cause your dogs extreme discomfort w/vomiting and diarrhea.

The reason why this recipe involves an acid (apple cider vinegar) is to convert the lactose. All dogs and people have varying degrees of tolerance towards lactose, some have no reaction at all, and some have allergies. While I don't feed my dogs whole milk on its own, they get cottage cheese as a protein variation, and kefir as a delicious form of probiotics and have benefited greatly from it. In a case of allergies to lactose, a simple swap to lactose-free milk will do the trick for this recipe, or simply avoid dairy completely and skip this recipe.
