- A fine restoration to be a part of! My buddy Darren @blakesmusclecar called me and drew up to come over and install the the side
Windows in the beautiful 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger. Not only that, we polished the window trim, set the door gaps, installed new felts, and rebuilt the window regulators. A super tedious process! All parts of the process to make the Dart’s window assembles feel and look as close as we could to factory. Very glad to share the job with you all.
Thanks again to Darren and Trish @blakesmusclecar for including us in the process of bringing this sweet Mopar back to life.
Anticipation has been killing me, lol Joe, y’all rock! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your efforts. I feel that you went above and beyond, especially with that trim, it’s nicer than most for being original but you made it 100 times better. I’ve already had compliments on how good it looks, and someone asked where it was re-chrome at.
This would’ve been a week of scratched up, bleeding arms, and wrenches thrown all over the damn garage and outside if I had taken it on. I knew just from taking the parts car all apart, I had wanted nothing to do with it.

Hey MPRJ magnificent job with your brother Drew, to install and aligning the windows and frames on the Dodge Dart. You guys have raw talent and are very gifted and blessed in doing so. I just wanted to ask the process of polishing the chrome with the wheel you used on the air gun? And you mentioned 2500 sand paper will that be wet or dry? And finally Darren mentioned a mag polish you used? Sorry for the questions, but I am exactly in the same process on my car, and was so exited when your vid came out. I would love a elaborate run down please MPRJ 😊 👍

Thank you very much. God is good and blessed me with a good brother and a Dad that could do these kind of jobs blindfolded. At my own shop, we have a buffing wheel on a bench grinder. This buffing wheel was designed for mag aluminum wheels. Darren said he found the kit of wheels on Amazon, I believe. The polish was one that he had. It reminded me of flitz polish, it you can find it. I’ve used 000 and 0000 steel wool on trim as well. Doing sandpaper steps can be rewarding as well, usually on badly scratched pieces. Try the steel wool first and see how you like it. I’ve done it with polish, and even with a lubricant like silicone spray or wd40. Work small places and see how it works for you.

I just did both windows and rubber on my 77 warlock - not nearly the same complexity, but it still was a pain, and the new felts have a tight grip on the window - rolls up smooth, but not easy! Super job on that Dart. My Dad's was a 71 or 70 (I onl know from pictures) - it was green.....he got married in it. Awesome car!

When one is looking for a good score on old mopars: the value of the car is halved if its missing that glass! Thats a job I will never do ever ever again. Sick work my dudes!

Thanks Rooster! The pressure was on, because we had limited time to do it all and get it right. I’m setting my own door gaps on every paint job I do, and making some good marks on where they will go back. That reminds me of Thursday’s video 🤫

@@JustMoparJoe so Arkansas is a little far for me to go but if I was close you would be my choice also your buddy that was cleaning that 440 up yall seem like good people and you have the experience you don’t check things twice you check till you get it right I’ve never seen a picky guy like you don’t take that the wrong way I mean in a good way most just look and say that will do get down the road and it falls apart so I have a lot of respect for you and your work is the best on you tube I’ve leaned a lot from you on big blocks and I’ve had 383s and 440s since 77 so my hats off to you anything you touch turns out awesome cause you don’t half ass it like most all that’s good enough you know what I mean

Kevin said the transmission came from Market Place (Facebook?) and it was out of a factory big block 69 Dart.

Big job boys but worth it there a great model 👍🏻. We had the Dart body in 🇦🇺in the VF or VG model in the VF super 225 or the 160 hp slant or the 318 at 230 hp . The VG had the Hemi 245 single barrel at 165 hp or a 245 2 barrel at 185 hp or the 318 at 230 hp with buckets centre console and tac dash in the 770 owned one plus a 2 barrel 2 door Hemi . That colour is very similar to my VG 4 door Regal Valiant with a hot 🔥 265 in it back in the day man could that thing sort out brand X . Enjoy the Dart she a beauty . 👍🏻🇦🇺.

This was a liquid polish that Darren had. It reminded me a lot of Flitz. I’ll ask him and see
Awesome video! I have a 73Dart Swinger. Finally I see the quarter glass molding being installed. I’ve looked all over to find someone doing it. Do you just pull on it to take it off? Thanks for the reply in advance.

Now that looks like one big puzzle not good with windows all the pieces u would think they would have come up with something easier to roll up a window if I had to take my out I don’t think I could put that back together all I got to do to my 71 dart is put new felts and rubbers hopefully I don’t have to take the side windows out I’ve done them before I BELIVE on my 70 roadrunner but I was young and had patience I will maybe put the seat belt strap like my buddy did on his race car I like it you pull down the seat belt and you pull it back up simple and I’m sure it’s a weight gain if I took it apart myself I could put back together but that I would look at and say I’m calling Mopar Joe maybe he needs a vacation to Canada lol

Hi Joe, I have a Scamp in the same colour, it has a cheap black carpet in it. Do you know what colour green that is in Darren's car? I've found loop pile carpet in the US but I'm not sure what green it should be - moss green, olive green etc etc. Thanks from across the pond 👍
Thanks brother. I was told the actual car color was F4 and the interior is F8. Hopefully that helps. I’m assuming that carpet came from classic industries

What kinda of grease do you recommend on the tracks?
I like the style similar to factory if possible. It’s closer to a clear grease than the colored wheel bearing greases.

Love f8 I had a 72 back a few years ago it was f8 I was at a old wreckers yesterday and I need my front vent windows done the rubbers have shrunk I guess it sat in sun a long time the main thing this 71 swinger has a mint underneath it’s got frame rails anyway it’s tough at my age I lost a lot of weight so my legs can only take so much walking in junk yard Thers maybe 6 darts that have sat for 10 years and they opened to publicly 3 days a week for the month of November the only place around here with old cars and I’m not sure what they are doing they may crush everthing the most of the parts are gone but windows are plenty and ther very hard to get at so I’m thinking of just ordering new rubbers instead of tearing out windows in a old junk yard they won’t let you do nothing with a saw they are charging everybody to cut rear ends out and take it to your car it’s a scam to make money I got a couple things for my car but they want redicilas prices that’s a fine looking dart hope I can get mine going for summer also another of the best videos from my fav you tube channel

@ yes sir I think classic industries prob got all the stuff I need good thing I got help I’m not to worried how the body looks this summer will drive in primer but the sun took a toll on dash and rubbers and the seals on windows with my 3 friends I hope we can do it we have a lift so that will help a little so longs I putting some rubber to the ground this year is all I care lol I don’t care if it’s just primered it will be fine

I'm doing mine up to be a pro stock tribute car in f4 with a black bumblebee stripe and probably do black interior although I'll hate that when it's 100 degrees out. Anyways nice dart bud !

Ahh yes! Sadly, I may be on the bottom end of knowing numbers for mopars. My brain doesn’t work like that. I can remember how the tracks and rollers go after doing a couple. It may haunt my dreams again tonight 😂

Mopar Joe, I really like your videos, however this video did not teach us a darn thing. It would have been beneficial to see how you assembled the gears, tracks and window along with how you adjust them. Also the lubrication process, and whiskers on the doors.
@@rodrigocampos510 I respect the feedback. I wanted everybody to realize that I had to film this process over two paid days. It was about 20 hours total work. In that situation, I can’t charge someone to watch me film every step. In this video, I wanted to share the experience and show the owner(who was hundreds of miles away) that I gave my full effort on his project, and it ended with a nice product.
