I knew the story was about the family of For King and Country but I had no idea that Rebecca was Rebecca St. James!!! What a wonderful surprise! I agree with your review!
I had no idea they were related lol. I was really surprised to find that out. Even though I’m not too familiar with their music, I do know who For King + Country is and the impact they’ve had. And just like you, to my surprise I find out that Rebecca St. James is their sister.
For King and Country is one of my favorites!
I’m curious to learn more about their music. I’ve heard a few songs here and there. I have liked the songs I’ve heard.
My husband, daughter, and four our grandchildren went to see Unsung Hero today. We all loved it! I found it a tiny bit slow for maybe the first 15 minutes, but it is a wonderful movie! I would love to see it again!

That’s really awesome. I thought it was an amazing story and I really enjoyed it. And as somebody who went to youth group in the 90s, it definitely took me back in time.
I loved the film even though I didn't grow up in the 90's. Something about it made me feel I was reliving my own childhood. I am happy to agree with your review, and I was surprised to find that the budget was only 6 million. It definitely did not seem like a low budget film. I am very familiar with FK+C, but not as much with Rebecca St. James, so for me the highlight was seeing how her career developed. Thanks for the review, and I like your assessment.
Thanks for the feedback. Since I’m not too familiar with For King + Country’s music, it was all the 90s nostalgia that hit with me. Don’t get me wrong the songs I’ve heard from them, I have liked, but I remember listening to Rebecca St. James. So that was a real treat for me. The other budget surprised me as well. It was actually very well shot.
Just got home from it, really liked it ….i had no idea that the father was played by Joel one of the adult brothers that sing now. . In other words David’s son played his role! Amazing!
Wish I had known that before movie….i might see it twice now! lol
And I love true stories in movies.
He was really good in the role. I was very impressed.

I enjoyed it. Like I said in the review, I might be a little biased because I enjoy faith-based films when they’re done right, but I really did find the story to be compelling and I was pulling for the characters. I hope you enjoy it.

Loved the film. It was heartwarming and inspiring. As a mother, I could relate to needing to hold the family together. I hope they make more.
This was from the same studio that made “I Can Only Imagine” that was great as well. I’m anticipating they’ll continue to make these movies as long as people go to see them. I was very pleased with the film and I will watch it again.
I saw Unsung Hero twice. Once with a girl friend and the second with my husband. It is a delightful movie.!!!! My husband has been depressed lately due to some health issues . It is a very encouraging message no matter the reason for the discouragement

For King and County is my favorite band. Ive been hoping that this movie would get made since "I Can Only Imagine" movie came out. I loved the movie. Fun fact this is the 4th movie Joel has acted in. Other movies:The Book of Ester, Like a Country Song, and Priceless.

He was in Journey to Bethlehem last Christmas as Herod's son. Had a great song.

It was a great feel good movie. It’s one of those movies that you feel better after you’ve seen.
Great review! I loved the movie and found many of the characters/life events to be very relatable even aside from knowing about Rebecca and FK+C.
I thought it was great as well. The story was extremely well done and very engaging.

It absolutely was.
It was so good!! There were tears in several places. Very good acting, especially Joel playing his dad. The kids were wonderful! What an example, Mom!! Good to see and hear Lucas Black again! “I wish I had an accent “😂
It is a little slow at first but you have to have the back story, so hang in there, you will be blessed!

I was very impressed with this movie. It’s well-made and it’s a movie that the family can enjoy. I took my youngest daughter to see it and we both thought it was great.

I just watched this movie last night. I thought it was incredible. I would recommend this to anyone. The absolute star of the movie is the actress who plays the mother. I remember even commenting that to my wife as we were watching the movie. 5/5 in my book.

Since it’s an adaptation, I’m sure there was some stuff that was changed to simplify the story. The movie I Can Only Imagine made some changes as well from the real story.

Yeah, it will definitely have an audience. Especially being that it’s based on the family from a couple of different recording artists. I happen to like faith films as long as they’re done right. This is one of the better written ones.

I think Luke Smallbone was a co-producer; not Joel.
If I said producer, I got it wrong, but Joel is credited as co-writer and co-director. I think you’re right that Luke is credited as a producer.
I think it was initially Luke's idea to make the film. I'd love the unseen smallbone siblings to be interviewed at some stage.

As an atheist, I really don’t care for faith based movies but this movie was perfect. The story was incredible and I enjoyed every moment of it.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Even though it’s a faith-based film I think this is the type of film that has a good balance and because of how it structured it, it is accessible to people from all walks of life.
@@Boblovesmovies 100% agree! They could have went too far into the faith aspect but really focused on the family’s journey through hardship.
I also thought it was one of the better made faith-based films. These films often don’t have the right balance between message and entertainment. As result you get films that are very cheesy. This one was cheesy not at all. It was extremely well-made, acted, and told an engaging narrative.

Are you asking if the band is comparable to Mercy Me or if the movie is comparable to I Can Only Imagine?
The second half of this movie was better than the first. I am not familiar with this band or story. While it was ok, I wish it focused more on the mother than the Father. The Father was/is very unlikable and I was more interested in the moms' story and relationship with Rebecca than her Dad.
