Especially the Chromebook Plus models offer pretty amazing value if you ask me. I got one for 333€ (incl. taxes). Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Slim (14IAN8) Intel® Core™ i3-N305, 8GB Soldered LPDDR5-4800 RAM, 128GB eMMC 5.1 storage, FHD 1080p with Privacy Shutter webcam, 14" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 300nits Anti-glare, 45% NTSC screen and roughly 11 hours of battery life. I don't think there's a Windows laptop at that price point that can match the performance on that device. It's true that not all Windows apps can run on it, but as you stated, there's also Linux and Android apps to leverage so it's not that bad and I mostly use web apps. It really depends on what your software requirements are but as you said, most of the apps today run in the browser. You won't be running any CAD software or doing any heavier video rendering (which you also said on the video), but apart from those, I think Chromebooks cover most stuff people need them to. They can even do some lighter gaming. I had zero issues installing Steam and a few lighter games on it like Balatro, Heroes of Might and Magic 3: HD Edition and stuff like that. But a similarly specced Windows 11 machine would choke on those specs and the instant resuming after opening the lid is a blessing. System updates are also way snappier to install and overall the uptime just seems better and there's less of maintenance. Some minor nitpicks would have to include the lackluster File browser app that doesn't have too many filters available to sort files.
Very good information! Helps in deciding if I’ll get a Chromebook. Thank you!
I have a chrombook and run all my student stuff on it. it was 200$ and its fine for school/college
That's awesome! I'm really amazed how great of a value they are for the price!
