That would be cool. But I don't think we've got any hope of it happening. Unfortunately the business side of it will likely be an issue. It's not just getting the license for the show, but the music. A dub itself is another barrel of issues. There is so much singing for this show that you'd have to dub the songs. You can't have large action sequences going by and having your English cast suddenly change their voices and sing in Japanese. And the English VA scene has grown a lot over the years, but I don't think there are enough actors who can sing (or singers that can act well) to handle this show.
FlareKnight You do make a fair point; though I do believe there V.A that can multi-task with acting & singing, getting the studio to agree/accomplish this would be challenging.

Awesome review of the first Symphogear! I still enjoyed this series and I admit that I dislike Hibiki at the beginning, but she really does develop into a better person later on, and a better heroine. Also another reason why I love the Symphogear series so much is that the heroines actually battle all kinds of threats, not just ones that are Noise based or other Symphogear users. They are actual heroes.
Just a bit of correction, there are going to be 5 seasons of Symphogear, because season 5 was announced along with season 4 (AXZ). Aside from that, good review! Can't wait for more review of this series!
I noticed that Hibiki's sole named attack is a combination attack... considering her whole "friendship" shtick, I have to ask : is that the whole point behind that?
I loved this show before I knew it had a writing connection to Wild Arms. But when I did find out, that didn't hurt at all. Loved Wild Arms, especially the first one. This isn't a flawless series, but darn it if it isn't one of my favorite series. I never expected to both really enjoy it when checking out the first episode nor did I expect the franchise to get to this point. They really hooked me in with the first episode and the build in season 1 was well done. Despite that the first season had a much lower budget than what would come later. In terms of it being brought over....I just can't see it ever happening. A main point for the show's success (the music) will keep it in Japan. The cost and difficulty of licensing the music for this show is likely too much. Especially since it is a show you can't realistically dub so you are further limited to the sub only market of anime viewers. And the amount of songs just increase as the series goes along. I'd love to have this show out here to help expand its awareness. But I don't think it will happen. I think it is a good show overall. I like seeing basically original series not only be made, but to succeed to the point where they can become their own franchise. Season 4 is done and Season 5 was already confirmed along with S4 a while back. At the very least this will be a series with 65 episodes in total. With the ending I think they simply changed their mind. Look at the first season. The visual budget wasn't through the roof and with the way the ending was trending they could have finished on a pretty tragic note. I feel like the ending was more "ok we're on the way to a solid ending....wait the CDs are selling like hot cakes! We could make this work. Change it up!" I can understand the mixed feelings on Yukine's backstory, but only in that I wish they did throw more hits on her parents for being stupid. I mean there is idealism and there is taking your kid to a war zone. Hire a freaking babysitter! But the rest I was actually ok with. Sure just losing her parents would probably be good enough. But the entirety of it was more effective in driving her hatred of adults, war, and her need to destroy all means of creating conflict. It is a bit excessive but...to be fair this show hardly holds off on excessive anyways. Personally I think it adds an extra layer. The other characters around her have lost a lot, but it explains why Chris is the most damaged of them all.
Can someone ask me what's the name of the music track that was playing during the final battle against the noise in this review? It sounded like the same one used at the end of the Heartcatch review. it was around 35:32 I believe.
It is kind of too bad he couldn't end up doing episode reviews for S5. That season is bringing it thus far as one of the best in the franchise. But it really is great to be reminded of where this franchise started.
You referred Tsubasa as Kanade several times. Um... okay? But it doesn't happen a lot so these reviews continue to kick ass. Still, you may want to be careful in future reviews, if you're tackling G, GX and AXZ later... Also THAT just reminds me... is it just me or as the seasons go on, Tsubasa gets locked in permanent contralto? Your video made me realize that she used to speak a bit more normally in the earlier seasons (post Kanade death, that is), maybe a bit more like an older Tsubomi.... Huh. That said I seriously LIKE how you fawn over G-man...
One thing about that anime at 2:07 is that, due to how the transformations work, and how flawed the writing is, it makes me wonder this: What's the point of having those 12 years old girls when the transformation is LITERALLY JUST aging up? This makes the point of having little girls as the protagonist pointless, although that's mostly because of how it's written. As in, you could make the girls be normally as old as they are when they transform and it wouldn't really affect the plot. At least ViVid has part of the story revolve around the fact that the main girls are children. As in, some of what happens in ViVid involves children acting like children. That other anime which name I can't remember (it's also quite the mouthful), on the other hand, hardly makes their age relevant for the most part, they don't even try to do that to appeal to a "certain" demographic, unlike ViVid once again, which has plenty of opportunities to lure in *those guys*. I mean, if the plot at least had something about how those little girls must cope with the horror of what's going on, I'd understand. But it hardly focuses on that, unlike what you called "one of the greatest anime of all time" (which is good enough to be on the list of the greatest, btw) that somehow managed to do it with quite the impact despite having a slightly older cast (Madoka seems to be 14 or so, but with anime it's hard to tell, after all, Yuki from School Live is supposed to be 17 or 18 but hardly looks or even ACTS old enough to be in highschool).
Magical Girl Raising Project. Probably the worst case of the Madoka clones. It tries to deconstruct the magical girl genre by turning it into Highlander, but can't because it barely has magical girl elements in it outside of cutesy designs. With Madoka, it's bright colors and marketing made it look like a run of the mill magical girl anime at first hence why many of its twists were so effective. With MGRP, it takes place mostly at night and the girls never really do magical girl things they just go straight into their little Battle Royale. Also the designs are uninspired, the mascot is just the lovechild of Kyubey and Monokuma.
Oh yeah. I read about it. And saw the mascot. I wonder what Monokuma would say if he ever met said mascot... I read the main problems of the anime is that it tried to condense all of Volume 1 into a single 12 episodes anime. Not to mention that Volume 1 is the worst Volume. As a result, the only they could've made it work would've been a more pragmatic adaptation that takes a lot liberties. And either make it a 24 episode anime or found some way to not have it all crammed together. Not sure if they would ever give this anime a second season, though. But considering that shows like The Asterisk War had one and that SAO's still going on, I wouldn't be surprised if they do. I heard that the Volumes after the first are a bit better, but the anime can still screw it over by cramming it all together and making generally poor choices. And considering that the animation studio is Studio Lerche and that it wouldn't even be the third time that they screwed over an anime (I'm looking at *you*, Danganronpa and "The Despair Anime: The Anime"), I'd say a screwed over second season isn't that unlikely.
That opening music you played was great! What's it's name? Wild arms was super fun I played it on the PS2 . I love your reviews and this one ranks up with my favorites your both funny and insightful.
Ah Symphogear the show that truly made me love the magical girl genre and I have to agree with most of your points two. But you might have wanted to do a little editing for the few time you called Tsubasa Kanade, still good though. This was Symphogear before Hibiki became a god killer with OP stats and moves. Also I didn't know about the sales for AXZ seeing them be so high makes me so happy as a Symphogear fan. Even with AXZ problems to see how far Symphogear has come is great, especially to compare animation and soundtracks. What did you think of AXZ btw? Additional if you ever have time come check out the Symphogear Wikia and Symphogear Fanon(I am an Admin over there) and leave your thoughts on things, it is a great place.

Normally? To me it was squeak. I like her later more mature voice, more natural, but it's just my opinion

The animation in the singing parts look bad, mainly because there's no lip syncing.
I love Nanoha series but Madoka magica is trash. Also Aoi Yuki is better in mad evil characters like Tanya in Youjo senki and Suishou in Granbelm.
