Hey guys! So the exhaust fan IS going the right direction, for some reason the wires are messed up. Keith was explaining this whole thing to me and I’m sitting there filming it, but then he droned on and on and on and so I’m like “honey will anyone even notice or care?” And he’s like “nah, probably not.” So I omitted it from the clip! 🤦🏼♀️ Rest assured, the fan is wired backwards but working properly. Who knew there’d be so many sparkies ⚡️ out there?! Thanks for watching our show! ~Renee💕
Yes, I DID notice it, Renee, and I WAS going to comment on it. Some DC fans like that will run in both directions, so I guess depending on how it was installed physically would determine which direction it blows in. However, I don't know anything about the fan, so I don't know for sure. Is it a direct replacement for the one Privilige installed? I would have a hard time believing that Privilege wired the original backwards.
@@SailingZatara I've been wondering... I know your opinion on mono vs cat, but I was wondering if that would change if it wasn't a 'sailing' boat? For instance, a Nordhavn where you can plumb in your destination and make 7-8kts all the way there without the hassle of sails... Fuel costs aside...
Keith cracked me up about the Quokkas. For those of you who are not from Western Australia, a colony of small marsupials known as Quokkas live on an island just off the coast of Fremantle in WA. The island is known as Rottnest Island and was first named by Dutch explorer Willem de Vlamingh in 1696. He thought the Quokkas were giant rats and called the island Rottnest, which means "rats nest" in English. Prior to the Dutch, the local Indigenous natives known as Noongars lived on the island for thousands of years. When the British colonized Western Australia, they used Rottnest Island as a prison to house the local unfriendly Noongars who were not happy about the white settlement on the banks of the Swan River, which later became the seaport city of Fremantle and the inland city of Perth. Quokkas are very friendly, cute and completely harmless little critters, which is why you can hear Renee laughing in the back ground about Keith's narration. They are a much loved docile little animal and are a protected species, definitely not for human consumption. The squid attack was just to let Keith know that the squid was not a very happy chappy about getting caught. I hope all the Zatara family have enjoyed their stay in my home town. It is just a pity that Anna could not have joined you for her summer vacation. Smooth sailing and God bless you all. Thanks for dropping by.
Zatara is so lucky to have a captain who can fix anything. I watch other channels, two are without their water maker, one without a generator, one cant change the starter on the outboard. Keith would have it all sorted in 5 seconds, then go grill some calamari. What a guy!
Keith you remind me of my dad, who was a double aerospace and mechanical engineering major. He was also a Topgun fighter pilot, and airline pilot. He can literally fix anything. I’m impressed. Your kids and your wife are lucky to have you. You have a beautiful family! Love watching your videos! Don’t ever lose that off color sense of humor and never stop telling it like it is!
It’s really incredible to see Keith, who probably didn’t know much about boats before undertaking this journey with his Family, repair all kinds of things on his boat. The takeaway, and an important one at that is that, if your passion is strong and profound enough, ANYTHING can be learned! It may sound like a cliche...but let it simmer for a while, cause it’s HUGE realization ....and Keith...is living proof! Thank you Keith. 🙏
Keith is not your average Joe, he has got a Pilots license, he got my respect big time, I would love to sail the seas like he is doing with his family, when ever they have a bad day or get bored, they should think of us locked up in are small cages, Keith you and your family are living the Dream.
He has a mechanical mind and probably had to work on his own equipment when he owned his business. You learn a lot when you first open a business with heavy equipment.

Hi Zatara Family , Keith I have a question that doesn't have anything to do with what you are doing at this present time on the boat ,but I feel since nobody asked this question in the comments a while back that I would.Keith ! you interviewed a couple that bought a Leopard Boat a couple years ago and it was one of the best if not the best interview you or your wife have done . The question is while these good people were moored in these mariniers having to sit and wait while the 2 or 3 companies played twiddly winks with each other "who was paying their marina Bill , I certainly hope it was not the owners of the boat because though no fault of their own they spent a lot of time in marina's since the bought the boat . Please keep up the sailing SHOW AND TELL .I am learning at lot about saling and having a few laughs from you all along the way ,Thanks Family .

Great video! I love the new intro music! A few hours of adult time...let the kids go play...the calm before the 'bottom job' storm. HAHA! Do they even have a clue as to what's coming? Keith, I've got a few questions that I haven't seen asked before. If so, please indulge me. (I apologize in advance for being long-winded) 1. How do you handle using normal paper products (TP, paper towels, disinfecting wipes, etc.) I'll bet the black water tank wouldn't break them down...or does it? Do you use anything like RID-X, or a marine version of it? I guess used paper towels would go into the everyday trash can/bag. Do you take the time to break down and get rid of all packaging from everything you get at Costco and toss/recycle it before you set sail? 2. Do you even use a socket extension in your drill/driver to speed things up instead of the slow hand operated socket wrench? (thinking of you changing out that fan...zip,zip,zip,zip...all 4 nuts now tight super fast...kinda like a NASCAR pit-stop) 3. Did Renée write the script for the Quokka scenes or was that all ad-lib? 4. I love your Costco haul! The back hatch of the SUV is full of great picks! That'll last you what, a couple of weeks? 5. Two guys in a fishing boat and no cold beer in sight? How'd that happen? 6. You blame Russ for the inking...how come you aimed the squid in the net at yourself? (thinking of the 7 P's here) Looking forward to seeing how the squid got prepared over on the 'Sailing Sunrise' channel! Keep these great videos coming! I look forward to every one you guys put up online!
Keith knew it was coming the way Russ was holding that net with the head of the squid pointed right at him. Russ did a good job of aiming his ink gun on that one. I'm sure at some point Keith will get his payback and it'll be a good one but damn was that funny. Good job Russ on his aim and to Keith for being such a good sport about it. Thanks for sharing a bit of fun with us as always Zatara and I guess now I have to check out Russ's channel as well. Fair winds and safe travels to the Z-Crew and to Russ and his gang as well, God Bless...
Keith I'm going to have to send you a bottle of my proprietary anti-seize/corrosion lubricant. You'll love this stuff, designed it for the salt belt winters !!
Hot tip - Squid can only ink when they have water to suck in to mix with its ink sack. as soon as you catch it grab it by the neck and turn it upside down to let the water drain out of it then it can’t squirt ink.
