Einfach wundervoll!

    Beautiful sonatas, the 6th is a gem and clearly a precursor to Mozart, excellent performance as well. And hereby a request for more JC Bach and early classicist music in general (Cannabich's symphonies for instance?). Thanks for sharing.

    Where can I find sheet music for this ? Specifically presto assai and Presto.

    THis end looks like the happiness of discovering harmonic tonality, that made all these sonatas possible like this.
    Does someone know any example better than this for the birth of fast music with power metal tempo? There is fast music before this using fast arpeggios and some patterns, but not so fast beat. Highlight for the prestissimo of the second sonata
    There are the trios of Boccherini, but i guess they were composed after this

    Sounds like early Mozart, if Mozart had little talent for melody-writing.

      JC wrote this for his student Princess/Queen Charlotte like most of his keyboard works. What you basically get is the progress the Princess/Queen made. These were purely educational, ear pleasing, 100% catered to Court taste which meant: $$$ for JC.

      £££ ($ is silly anachronistic palimpsest); Opus 17 was published in 1773/74, so they pre-date even American independence.

      Almost any of his operas;
      the best set of symphonies is Opus 18;
      the three sets of piano concertos;
      the best of the sinfonie concertanti such as the C major for flute, oboe, violin and cello;
      some of the chamber music with keyboard - either continuo or obbligato Opus 11 and Opus 22.
      Almost every note written by JC Bach is attractive, professionally composed, and worthwhile as repertoire to which to listen; he basically blew away Mozart who admired him all his life.
