So glad I named my baby daughter after this great man.It was a hard fought battle with my wife who had never heard of him.Long live Townes Griffin.RIP Townes Van Zandt.
All I Need and Sky Blue were the two things missing in my life. ❤️
Wow, this is something i could never of imagined. New songs from a man long gone. R.I.P!
This is so amazing. Love hearing new Townes songs! How lucky are we?!
The best artist of all time - Townes Van Zandt.
For sure, my good fellow
I'm sorry to say, what a waste.
Great to hear Townes again with this song. Love it.
Welcome back, great spirit.
Hot Damn! Unreleased Townes Van Zant.. Really doesn't get any better.
Rather sad but lyrics penetrating and honest Stephan
damn I only got into Townes a couple months ago and now there is a new song!!!!
what a blessing!
The man keeps on giving doesn't he?. I owe my life to TVZ.
absolutely! same here
@@shelby8364 Do you know when the song "marie" was recorded?
I NEED to meet a girl that LOVES TVZ like you do!
@@cutetania1187 Townes played «Marie» in the Larry Monroe’s Radio Show in Texas, March 11th, 1990. Townes wrote the song for Blaze Foley in San Franciso, according to the book «A Deeper Blue: The Life and Music of TVZ». It’s on the 1997 album «Documentary» (Europe) or Last Rights (US).
The earliest version I can find on internet is at The Great American Music Hall, San Francisco 16th November 1988, it's an audience recording and the sound has a lot of echo, I don't know if he recorded it earlier than the 'No Deeper Blue' album 1994. Whatever, If It's by Townes it must be worth listening to. Peace.
There he is.
Wow, amazing to hear. So thankful there is still more Townes to unpack and discover! Can't wait for the album
Thank whatever God their is that we can listen, hear and feel some Townes. I'm a peaceful man but, I want any of you millions out there to suggest a better song writer. You send a suggestion and I'll listen to it. Until then I will always say that he was the best.
Great song! Immediately got stuck in my head.
I preordered rn. I cant wait my birthday is march 19th and it has already made my year
None Yaas same here!
My bday is March 18th
Where ya been? NONE YA
Awesome! New Townes music!
So beautiful and sad this melody. Thank you Townes for this song
Always great to hear Townes, thanks for releasing this track and I anxiously look forward to March!
Indeed! Great tune.
This song comes close to accurately describing Van Zandt's fragile inner self. He sounds like he's about to cry, which he occasionally did while performing on stage.
Thanks! Do you know if ever any of these moments were recorded?
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Too many great songwriters long gone. Townes, Cohen, Reed, Drake, Parsons and Tim Buckley. Where are the new poets?
check out Skyscrapper Stan
Check out Colter Wall too. This young man has been nailing it. He even covered "Snake Moutaing Blues" by Townes
Living in some basement probably or room
Ripping apart, severing flesh, gouging eyes, tearing limb from limb.
Cool. Where did this come from? Will there be any more unreleased TVZ stuff coming out?

Hmmm. I love love love Townes Van Zandt. But I see why this wasn’t released during his life time. It’s not up to his standards... sometimes I think it’s a shame when an artist dies and people make money off stuff the artist didn’t see fit to see the light of day while they were here. I know I’m gonna get some guff for writing that... but this guy was a master craftsman till his dying day.. if he had liked this song it would have found its way onto one of his later albums for certain... just my opinion of course. But the fact is it never came out while he was still here. Sounds like one he threw back.
Having said that.. being a rabid fan I’m eager to hear the rest of the album anyway. I hope it’s worthy of his talent. Different versions of some of his great ones which are certainly included on this upcoming release are always fun to hear. This one sounds unfinished and was obviously discarded by Townes.
Sounds perfect to me. Check out this article. He basically recorded these songs at a friends house for shits and giggles.

And it might not be that he didnt think this was good enough. Most likely a record executive would have cut it. Part of why Blaze Foley never cared to put much out through with the suits.
Buck Owens your point is very valid. I feel similar about Jimi Hendrix, but then I think would I rather not hear the music and my answer is I always would like to hear and buy this unreleased stuff despite it may not have been the artists intention to release it and others may be profiting.
Anyone know where I could find chords/tabs for this?
Anyone out there tryna tell me more about this cover photo? Looks like Europe or Scandinavia? 🧐
