I’ve been a USPS mail carrier for 27 years. My best friend’s husband got laid off about 6 months ago. He asked me if we were hiring. I gave him all the info to apply and was surprised when he didn’t. Then I found out that my “best friend” told him not to apply. She told me it was menial work and she would be embarrassed if he was just a mailman. So now he’s just unemployed and I’m wondering why that’s not more embarrassing.
My nephew graduated high school this spring. He is already a full-time postman. 18 years old, young, strong, and will live with the parents for a few more years. The kid will be in a great position whe he's 30.
Sounds like she is a problem... Doesn't want her husband working at certain jobs? Why is she deciding his career? Makes me think she would give you bad advice as well.
It's pure entitlement and laziness and the cheek of calling in and asking what she needs to do. Babe you need to get that job in Target, that would even give you more motivation to look for a job.
@@UncleDavesKitchen Most of those jobs on Indeed, etc. are scams. They get your personal information and sell it. Of course, she can look outside her field.
Getting A job at this point isn’t going to fix this. Getting a minimum wage job isn’t fixing this problem. In the Philly area if you’re making minimum wage you’re better off being unemployed.
I just read your comment, my comment was exactly the same point. I mean how is she not understanding that she was laid off from her job as a paralegal assistant and that will hinder her from doing that same job. She is obviously going through some other stressful times that has caused her to give up on trying to find a job. I’m not sure why her choice is to try and only apply to the same type of job that she got fired from.
Insane to not pick up a retail job to at least break even until she can find what she wants instead of going into debt. She didn’t need to call into the show to figure that out

Given the persisting global economic crisis, it's essential for individuals to focus on diversifying their income streams independent of governmental reliance. This involves exploring options such as stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the adversity in the economy, now is an opportune moment to contemplate these investment avenues.
The pathway to substantial returns doesn't solely rely on stocks with significant movements. Instead, it revolves around effectively managing risk relative to reward. By appropriately sizing your positions and capitalizing on your advantage repeatedly, you can progressively work towards achieving your financial goals. This principle applies across various investment approaches, whether it be long-term investing or day trading.
I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.
I think this is something I should do, but I've been stalling for a long time now. I don't really know which firm to work with; I feel they are all the same but it seems you’ve got it all worked out with the firm you work with so i surely wouldn’t mind a recommendation.

Federal student loans are dischargable in bankruptcy. It's an extra step called adversary proceedings where undue hardship needs to be proven. It used to be really hard because they also include earning potential for several years in this but with government guidelines changed, there has been a big increase in approvals this year. This path has always been a possibility just under the current administration, how undue hardship is proven finally got some clear guidance vs being largely the judge's interpretation. Only private student loans that were exclusively directly issued to any institution are not dischargable (if they were paid to the student, there is a big chance that they also used it for living expenses and a good bankruptcy attorney will absolutely be able to get rid of those). Avoid any bankruptcy attorney that tells you otherwise, there are a lot out there (at least here in Texas) that just want your business and an easy and fast case. For anyone who does want to get rid of their federal student loans, find a bankruptcy attorney who did adversary proceedings filings before.
@imveryhungry112 I'm surprised that my comment was deleted. I would really like to know what the issue was with it. Anyway, the key message was that YES, federal student loans can get discharged in bankruptcy through an additional step called adversary proceedings. And it's more likely than ever that this is successful due to updated guidance on how undue hardship is defined.
From the moment you hear "out of work for 1 year", unless you are ill, that's a choice at that point. I resigned from one of my old jobs some time ago and best believe one of the first jobs I started applying to on top of my actual trade were the bartender job posts. I bartended for about a month and then got the job I wanted. As an adult refusing to work is really kind of dumb to me and no one can tell me different.

Things they missed 1. Student loans aren’t even bankruptable. They should have mentioned that to her. 2. 8 interviews in 1 year is a joke. She needs to be booking 8 interviews a month. Also, she needs someone like Ken to go through a mock interview with her to see what the issue is. She has to be doing something wrong to not get hired after so many opportunities. 3. I’d be curious to know how she’s even living right now. No income at all for a year? How did they not ask about that?
Federal student loans can be discharged in bankruptcy through an additional step called adversary proceedings. And with recently updated guidance, it's more likely than ever to be successful.
Yeah, she kind of sounds like she is hoping Ken and Racheal says to file bankruptcy. It's like she wants their permission to do it. That's probably what she did after she got off the phone call with them. She definitely doesn't sound like she wants to get a job. I'd be freaked out with no job and a mountain of debt. I'd go to target, petsmark, walmart to see if I can get hired. The thought of not having food to eat or not being able to have running water would scare me enough to find anything.
So true. I have wasted so much time applying for those virtual paralegal jobs, and I have 20 years of experience. There are many reasons companies put ads in; looks like the firm is growing and helps with attorney recruitment; calms an overworked support staff saying, look we are advertising for another person, when it is bogus; on and on. Such a waste of time. I have interviewed locally. I am now working at a grocery store deli. You work where you can when you can while you look for a job in your profession. A year without work is a bad decision.
She would rather not work, not pay off debts she incurred such as school, car and personal loans? Why has a 30 year old with some schooling NOT work for a year and let the debt sit and conciser bankruptcy to stick her debtors to pay from her lack of integrity. I wonder if she lost her job and been ghosted by other employers for a good reason.
Yeah, cause even in a tough economy like we are in now, people still need doctors and lawyers. If you are in the medical or law field, then you shouldn't have trouble finding a job if you were able to find one before. But you maybe on to something. She may not have been good at that job cause she is in the type of field where you have to crush it, and she doesn't seem like the type that is a go-getter. At least that is what I'm getting out of this call.

I didn't know how much paralegals made, once I heard she was looking for less than $25 an hour; I just about fell out of my chair. She could have replaced 50-75% of her lost income with a retail or fast food job with some dashing on the side. If she did labor, she could have easily replaced it all. I know people hustling at the warehouses making 65-75K with a bunch of OT. This is the problem with many Americans, she attaches a higher social value to that job, when its nothing special from an income side. She probably thinks she is to good to do a “lesser” job. She can do at home customer support and probably walk into 20-25 an hour tomorrow. She's just lazy.
I completely agree. There are lots of people in the grocery industry that makes a lot more than she does. And I'm not talking about DMs or CEOs. I'm talking about people that work in the grocery stores. If she became just a department manager, she would make more than she ever did as a paralegal. It's not like she can't find a job that paid what she made. It still amazes me how people take out student loans for jobs that don't pay more than retail does. SMH

It’s a terrible job market out there for the past 2 years and a lot of jobs that don’t require any qualifications with wages likes $15 an hour don’t hire people that are over qualified for the job because they know people like that won’t stay. It can be tough
Well as an employer they must have plenty of applicants so I can't agree more why bother with those who are able when one can get others who are less able and will still be forced to work?
Ive gone through 10+ interviews before landing an offer letter. Id aim for 10 initial interviews/month and at least 1 2nd round interview/week. You can do it 🙌🏽
Unemployment is an odd concept in an economy where for so many folks it’s necessary to work multiple jobs just to get by. Loose one and you’re counted as employed but suddenly don’t have enough money to live.
The economy is grappling with uncertainties, global fluctuations, and pandemic aftermath, causing instability. Rising inflation, sluggish growth, and trade disruptions need urgent attention from all sectors to restore stability and stimulate growth.
Things are strange right now. The US dollar is becoming less valuable because of inflation, but it's getting stronger compared to other currencies and things like gold and property. People are turning to the dollar because they think it's safer. I'm worried about my retirement savings of about $420,000 losing value because of high inflation. Where else can we keep our money?
Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.
I'm intrigued by this. I've searched for financial advisors online but it's kind of hard to get in touch with one. Okay if I ask you for a recommendation?
Finding financial advisors like Jessica Lee Horst who can assist you shape your portfolio would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.

Philadelphia is the 6th largest city in America. There's gotta be tons of job in that area. I know the job market isn't the greatest, but there is something available. Also Philly isn't a cheap place to live, so if she has to move, move.
I have a degree in Economics and pretty much no standards. I just want to earn a living. I work two full time jobs right now (barely over minimum wage). I have been rejected from 3 target locations, 8 chickfila locations, 3 chipotle locations, a Best Buy, and multiple Starbucks locations as well. The job market is in a state of crisis and people aren't willing to accept that
A common theme of this show is people who call in and are broke but also have a bunch of excuses. Try living in a country with 20% unemployment rate. That would be real struggling.
It's very easy to get a job its hard to get a good career. They will literally hire anybody at the grocery. I knew I seen at least 30 people come and go in the 3 years I was there in the PANDEMIC.
LOL. Good point, which is why I'm wondering if something happened with her job that made her not hirable for that position. I may be wrong, but sometimes if something happens where you lose your job in a field like she is in, word gets around and they won't touch that person with a 10-foot pole.
Yup. I took a low paying job as soon as I found out I was being laid off in 2 months. Then I will be doing Uber eats on the side… hopefully this new job offers OT because I will take all of it. Just to ensure I can pay all my bills
Ken - Just because something is posted on a website doesn't mean there is really a job there or that they will actually hire someone. There are so many fake postings it's unreal. Don't know why this is happening, companies might just be collecting resumes incase they want to hire, but this is really happening.
Overcoming the mental depression caused by layoff is very hard. But true, go for any job, in the meantime because the lack of money is depressing in of itself. At least you help minimise one part (money, even if lower, should keep from drowning further). Sometimes people worry about how these in between jobs read on the cv, but it ultimately looks worse with unemployed in that time frame. Also, in this search, you may find another field you had not considered, and actually enjoy more. My cv is bizarre with all the different directions I have taken. What sucked more was being unemployed and broke. Some employers actually praise doing the in between jobs rather than 'doing nothing'.
🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️The unemployed caller ...got me wondering about bankruptcy decision details. Does it matter how to handle repay or discharge dependsing if it's medical debt or credit card debt or loans on assets? You can always pay back what you want to and keep accounting good status once you get. Still best to negotiate payment plans? Is it best to negotiate Balance Due reductions, if possible, or Always pay all of what is due in full? Snowball at rate of pay plan?
Simple solution for this girl. Stop acting like you're above working at Target, Walgreens, etc. She said 55k a year, I made that at Walgreens as a shift lead, so really you have no excuses. I live in Nashville, so kind of the same scenario. Get off your butt and work 50 to 60 hours a week, I fixed all my problems in just 2 years. I'm just an average dude like anyone else.
That’s actually a projection. The overwhelming majority of hiring managers at retail/fast food/low income jobs aren’t calling a white collar person between jobs in for an interview, let alone to hire them.
@@DaveyW I feel you brother, you'll get through it. Plenty of places need people, you just can't be picky about it. Give it a run at least, making money is all the same. Screw appearances.

If you were making 55k gross you're netting about 40k a year that she had been living on, so how in 1 year do you get 77k in debt? Sounds like she wasn't living within her means when she had a job.
Wish Dave was on this call, “Honey you ain’t seeing the inside of a restaurant unless you’re working there” they were way too nice to her, get a job already..
Here’s the problem with Ramsey. A woman calls up and needs interview advice and gets “go work 12 hours at Walmart and Uber.” I’m a highly educated job seeker with a lot of manager experience. Minimum wage jobs aren’t hiring me. I’ve applied to a lot of $20-$25/hr jobs and not even got an interview. Because they don’t want to hire people who will leave when their primary industry calls them back. As for Uber, with the rates driving apps take from the driver, it’s not worth the wear and tear and gas. Plus, if everyone is driving for Uber, it takes away from all the other drivers. Let’s just call a spade a spade. The market sucks and having a bunch of mediocre radio personalities making ridiculous salaries giving advice on how to live a normal life is entertaining more than productive.

Heres whats wrong with the logic of just get a job til the right one comes along. There are only so many hours in a day. If you work an 8 hours shift thats 9 hours (lunch break) plus commute if on site. Now add in maintaining a house and a family. When do you have time to sit and search and tailor resumes and network and interview? Those types of jobs like Walmart dont give time off up front. So you have 4 rounds of interviews for 2 different jobs and you are getting fired anyway. Not only that but 20-30K may not even pay the rent for some people (my mortgage alone is $34K annually so for me that would be pointless). Being out if work for a year doesnt mean you dont know how to do the job.

@@UncleDavesKitchen Most of those jobs on Indeed, etc. are scams. They get your personal information and sell it. Of course, she can look outside her field.

I dont think student loans are dischargeable in bankruptcy unfortunately.
They’re not if they’re federal loans.
They are not.
She can enroll in income based and she will be current without delinquency
@imveryhungry112 I'm surprised that my comment was deleted. I would really like to know what the issue was with it.
Anyway, the key message was that YES, federal student loans can get discharged in bankruptcy through an additional step called adversary proceedings. And it's more likely than ever that this is successful due to updated guidance on how undue hardship is defined.
From the moment you hear "out of work for 1 year", unless you are ill, that's a choice at that point.

Losing weight???
That’s not a solution. She needs to double down her job search. In the Philly area she might as well be bankrupt with a minimum wage job.
You hit the nail on the head with losing weight. I suspected the same, hence the laziness.

Instead of working anything, she rather not work and dig herself a bigger hole. That makes way more sense.

I am in her shoes. You need to walk a mile in her moccasins before you judge. You have no idea what the application process even for a horrible crappy job is like right now. The powers that be want you to think there is a ton of work out there, but there isn't. Most of what's on the websites is fake or expired. Even getting a crap job at Burger King requires you applying through AI. 90% of applications are never even seen by a human being. The legit employers don't even know you exist.
Yup
Rachel is nowhere near as clued up as her father. She didn't even ask how much was student loans which are not bankruptable.
Job market DOES suck. Inflation is sucking the life out of people. THANK YOU BIDENOMICS!!!!!
Trump will hire you and give you a huge tax cut because you are a billionaire.
She voted for Biden, though
File bankruptcy immediately. You are unemployed. You are not digging out of this hole with a retail job! Get real!
Student loans are not bankruptable.
She does not deserve to get out of this hole. Get real!
They didn't go into any detail on amnts of what kind of debt. We'd have to know this first
Yep, that is the Jesse Jackson approach and then yell racism!
@@westnash are you lost?
As a person who was unemployed for 9 months, I understand the emotions However, you can easily substitute 55k. I could understand if she was trying to replace a salary of 120k but she can get 1 fulltime job, 1 part time, and gig work
A job is better than no job. Some employers even pay college tuition. Target, Walmart, Disney, Macy's, Amazon are a few that have it listed on their website. Put your pride aside.
Bull crap. There is much you can do, clean houses, restaurants, uber, doordash, walk dogs, mow lawns, clean windows or cars, sell your furniture, shoes, etc. When I got tired of my debt, I was mowing laws, selling everything that I was no using around my house, my husband and I was working 7 days a week, two jobs and selling everything, even the cat was in a budget. We paid off $320k in 2.5 yrs. We finished the house on April. It is possible, but you have to move and chase.
Yeah and what type of outcome can one expect with those jobs you mentioned? WTF dude getting a job that allows for options I would think is what she really needs...
Very unpleasant difficult situation for this lady. Its not easy getting a job. She needs to go for a stress relieving poo, take stock and hope for the best. 👍🏻
It's very easy to get a job its hard to get a good career. They will literally hire anybody at the grocery. I knew I seen at least 30 people come and go in the 3 years I was there.
@@Rashaadthegr8 I wonder if she lost her job and ghosted by recruiters for a good reason. She doesn't sound like she can make good decisions.
There must be a lot of drug worker/councillor jobs in Philadelphia. That open air drugs market is a blight on the USA and should not be allowed!
@@Blue_Star_flyerThere are a lot of despicable comments just like yours in this thread. Walk a mile in someone's shoes first before you judge. All the people saying this crap have NO idea how bad or difficult things are out here right now. It is all done through computers. 90% of applications, even for the crappiest jobs, are never seen by a human being. The people hiring don't even know you exist. Over stupid things like the margins in your resume might not be what they want, or you used a header for your name and phone at the top. I only know this because a retired military computer guru is running enemployment groups in my area. He is finding all the issues preventing people from finding work. There is also rampant age discrimination. He was told right to his face by a 27 year old recruiter looking at resumes that she would not hire someone even though she had a stellar resume. The reason she gave was that the person was her mother's age. I have never been out of work this long in my life. I'm afraid I'm going to die homeless. Three and a half years ago I had stellar credit, money in the bank and a crappy job but was at least employed. I was finally able to buy a home. Now I'm about to lose my house. You cannot disparage someone and assume what they are or are not doing. You need to walk this awful path and then open your mouth.
@@Rashaadthegr8 Really depends on where you live.
i would never uber drive/or uber eats some people are not safe getting hurt or worse is not worth delivering pizzas to me.
You’re not a paralegal if you don’t have a job.
go through a consulting company for the meantime.
She should def file for bankruptcy! Her income even when employed is probably not 6 figures. Very difficult to make progress on that debt!
Covid and inflation absolutely destroyed me. Couldn’t afford to live without using credit cards. Ended up $52,000 in the hole. Bankruptcy gave me a fresh start. Best thing I ever did. No regrets!
How’s your credit?
8 interviews since January? Less than 1 per month? when you don't have a job getting a job is your full time job, she should be going to 8+ interviews per week not per year
$55k isn't anything to hold out for. Go work at freaking McDonald's or something until you get your "dream job"
Many don't understand that when you do the Ch. 7 Means Test, they take the last 3 months' income to see if you qualify. Which means that, since this lady made $0, NOW is the time to file, before she (presumably) lands a job. It's ridiculous to pay back this debt when she could discharge it (other than the student loans) and start building a nest egg instead.
Being high and mighty about BK is fine, but we also have to live in the real world.
So I have to clean up your mess. Pathetic!
Except it's extremely difficult to work in legal with bankruptcy.
And these people think that it's so easy to get a job?
@Jimmy, how many people have you hired ? Is zero an accurate number?
I lost my job at 56. I can get an interview so they can say they interviewed older workers but they ignore me during the interview.
No. They know people need to do HARD things to survive. You need to learn this.
@@BirdDogey1how do your interviewers know how old you are before they schedule an interview?
@@EricRamz what year did you obtain uour college degree? Gives them an approximate age. Also, they are immediately disinterested in you before the interview begins.
Start doing uber eats, lyft, door dash and other jobs and get some kind of money. Some progress is better than no progress especially when it comes to debt.
It was okay to be down, a year ago. Get over it!
I’ll never understand people like this
When people blame the economy for their current struggles, I already know what time it is😅
I disagree here if you could get the courts to forgive the student loans and allow you to keep your car then 100% do it! Your credit will take a hit and prevent you from certain purchases like a home for 7 years but you can rebuild.
Purchasing a stock may seem straightforward, but selecting the correct stock without a proven strategy can be exceedingly challenging. I've been working on expanding my $210K portfolio for a while, and my primary obstacle is the lack of clear entry and exit strategies. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
the strategies are quite rigorous for the regular-Joe. As a matter of fact, they are mostly successfully carried out by pros who have had a great deal of skillset/knowledge to pull such trades off.
Even with the right strategies and appropriate assets, investment returns can differ among investors. Recognizing the vital role of experience in investment success is crucial. Personally, I understood this significance and sought guidance from a market analyst, significantly growing my account to nearly a million. Strategically withdrawing profits just before the market correction, I'm now seizing buying opportunities once again.
thats really massive! How can I participate in this? I sincerely aspire to establish a secure financial future and am eager to participate. Who is the driving force behind your success?
“.LUCIA ALICIA CRUZ.’’ is the licensed coach I use. Just research the name. You'd find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
.
I have a female advisor named Lucia Alicia Cruz. I recommend researching her. To be very honest, I'm glad I decided to let someone handle expanding my finances even though I almost didn't think I should.
BK. Bad advice. File BK. It will take you 20 years to pay that off. I worked in tax law for 12 years and know of what I speak.
Yea let taxpayer pay for her laziness....she needs to get a job
And that won't help with the student loan.
She won't work in legal for 7 years after, good luck getting back in after that break.
@@amireallythatgrumpy6508 most of her debt is credit cards.
Employers will look at how long you were at your past job, and if we are really honest since Covid, nothing has been "steady." I feel her cause im there too and i know several others who are as well in the tech sector. I dont claim to know what the solution is, but we need better solutions than that.
“I’ve been unemployed for a year and the job market absolutely sucks but I’m not working at Walmart or target.”Geez…
It's funny. A person who once made a mistake and fell into a credit trap calls and asks if he should pay his debt to a business that feeds people who answer this question. 😂
There is no excuse to be out of work for a year if you live in a major city and you don't have some kind of major disability or medical condition like cancer.
If you're just a regular person who's capable of working any job and you're out of work for a year, that's a choice.
And I get it, it can suck to feel like you'd be going backwards by getting a retail job but freaking go do something.
Basically every grown adult out there doesn't have the luxury of being able to not work.
Sounds to me like she's hoping t avoid work and figure out a get out debt free card.
Amen. I'm a cancer survivor, I have active co-workers with cancer right now who are still working. These people are amazing.
@@lot2196 I also have a co-worker that has cancer who is working part-time.
Obviously there are people who fall on extremely hard times and maybe very very prohibited from working. But that's not what this lady is going through. She is choosing not to work - per her own story.
Two seconds on LinkedIn will tell you how absolutely trash the job market is right now. This woman is the norm unfortunately.
You just gonna gloss over the part where she's only looking for jobs in her field. She has 70k in debt don't think she gets to choose what type of job she can take now. Also with experience, doesn't take a year to find a job. What is wrong with people
4.2% unemployment rate in august. 3.7% average last year.
Historical average is 5.7
I'm working so many jobs the last few years. Y'all are too picky
Sad to hear
Caller says I’m broke, Caller also says don’t wanna take any jobs that aren’t my ideal job.😮
If she bankrupts herself all the more nobody will hire her as paralegal.
