That fence should stand the test of time. I built a wooden privacy fence back in 1995 with my 10 ft posts on 6 ft centers with 2 - 80 lb bags wet poured around each post. We subsequently moved a few years later. After Hurricane Michael in 2018, I drove through the old neighborhood and my fence was the only one still standing in the entire neighborhood. It had some damage from falling trees, but it didn’t blow over.
I rebuilt our fence last year this exact same way. A word of warning, when these fence slats get wet, those screws WILL snap off at the head. You are better off simply nailing each slat. We're in Oklahoma and the wind and water put a beating on the fences. I used deck screws as well and at least 10% have snapped off and the heads popped out of the wood. Just a word of warning.
I always enjoy watching you do projects. Because you do things like I would do. Over do everything. If you’re going to do something do it to last. No need in half assing anything. Keep up the great work and keep posting your projects. Jeff K.
Hi Andrew and Tiffany, l love all the extra steps you do to make something turn out next to perfect. I also love over kill with the weather patterns we all seem to get these days, I think it helps with fixes down the road. You two sure come up with some fantastic ideas and outdoor spaces are perfect. ❤️❤️👍👍🇨🇦
Excellent video, one of your best due to your level of passion/interest in the task. Second only to a couple of your pool vids which you would have walked barefooted on broken glass for😅 ! Great job 👏 👍
Andrew fence looks great If you end up having to replace the PT boards like I did look into the cedar dog eared from Home Depot a little more expensive but 10 yrs out they still look great Just a thought God bless
Hey Andrew... You tend to build STRONG. I like that. Another good job. I do have a question/comment though. There is an awful lot of "sail area" there. In a strong 'blow' that fence will act just like a giant sail. It'll catch every bit of the wind with no way to "vent" it. It probably would have been better (maybe.??) to place your picket boards on alternating sides of the fence..... sort of like this --_--_--_--_ .. You could have overlapped the visible edges of each picket so the fence appeared solid, yet would allow the wind a way through the fence. Would have taken a lot of the wind load off of the fence. But, whatever.... It's a very high quality build. Happy Easter my friend.!
Not sure if you mentioned it. If you have a sprayer, add varnish or a stain to extend the life of the wood fence. Yes, that leveler would come in handy. I bounced over to check on Amazon on the price. Currently unavailable, but there are others or similar anywhere from $30-$75. Worth the investment.
I suggested staggering the slats/pickets on either side of the horizontal boards so there's gaps for the wind to go through, while enjoying privacy, if this goes down I hope you give it a ponder (if you haven't already) This looks pretty darned stout though!
Andrew it's a sad moment I'm about to tell you about. Another You tubers home burnt down the last few days " Kinfolk Farm " Shane is the man's name. He lives in Woodbury , Georgia. Please all send prayers to he and his family!
Just a thought on one thing, It's hard to get a sense of depth on video but it seems a back door would be desirable , I agree it would be a weak point unless over built at which point it's probably simply not worth it (Especially after the fact) but as a practical compromise perhaps just a functional hinged pass through access cut out panel or even a full size 'door' for objects even with the three horizontal 2x6's still in place that you could actually squeeze / crawl through if nessasary or desired for any reason? It may look a bit hokey and you may choose not to share it but it would definitely be beneficial for convenience and functionality imho. Or not ?
While the pretty side does look pretty, the back of the fence is ugly. You see that from all points of your property. I'd have put one board on one side and spaced it one board before nailing the second board. Then on the back side, I'd put a board to cover the gap. That way, the fence looks the same on all sides. In addition to looks, it provides space for air movement that is now blocked. (That might be a blessing!) I don't know if I described it well. In any case, the "lived-in" space is going to look spectacular when you are through with the gravel, sinks, flower beds, etc. I also love that you're going to put in a swing! Hard work, but well done! I can't wait for you to stain the front fence!
Huge fan. Been watching for years. It is a little odd that you overbuild but then cut corners like pouring a dry mix and then spraying down with water. Seems like it somewhat negates the overbuilding of the fence imo. Also, I’m not from a completely different climate (East Texas on the coast) even treated wood rots eventually. Putting post directly into ground is a bit risky, especially as you have clay and not super good drainage. I know you out the gravel at the bottom, but the dry mix is just filling in those voids. Also, as to butting up the boards on the fence, that catches a ton of wind. Leaving gaps not only helps with expansion/contraction, it helps to let wind pass though.
Great job. Definitely stout. Since you don’t need city type privacy, did you consider alternating the pickets on both sides of the fence. Allows for a breeze and less pressure during hurricane.
Well u don't need the storm shelter now, just hide behind the fence! 😂😂 Not related to this video but have u seen the rocket stove water heaters!? Maybe a cool build
good work on fencing. oh check out the new GM pickup for $8,000 dollars that will be coming out.check out BRIGHT FIRE LIGHTER YOU MAY LIKE. be bless and safe. SAVANNAH TN.

Trip thats something to brag about! way cool!
Great, so much potential there!! Happy Easter to all members of TKCL family celebrating today:)))
Galvanized spiral nails would hold just as well and would have saved so much work

Thank you for watching and the support.
Now that's a stout fence!
There's that music again, I love it!
over due is what he does!😉
You're like a son. I never had learning to do all of the carpentry work that I performed 😀
😁
The details definitely make the difference. Nice job Andrew.
Love the fence and the new music you have added. I think it is a spin on "Where is My Mind" by the Pixies
Andrew, you did a beautiful job on the fence. That fence is going to look wonderful for a very long time.
Came out looking good Adnrew. I'm sure you'll get many, many, years of enjoyment out of it being built that strong.
Thank you, I hope it can handle all these storms.
Well built fence. Would have been difficult for me to block the views with the fence that you have there. But I understand what you are going for
Looks great and well built, I expect nothing less from you Andrew
Thank you

That is one good looking fence. Great video.😊
Holy Smokes that is one stout fence system. Well done sir!
Hi, Andrew and Tiffany! Great privacy fence. It went up fast. See you at 7:00.
See you soon
It's looking really good Andrew!! Can't wait to see the finished product💜
Thanks so much!
Good day to all. Looking strong.
Thank you for watching
Nice job! Looks good...can't wait to see it down the road when what you two envision in it's final form comes to fruition.
Big plans!
Awesome video. The fence turned out great. 😊
Can't wait to see it with some LED party lights 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽. Hopefully you have it done next time I visit lol

Great job 👏 👍
Looking great :) Can’t wait to see what’s next:) tfs and God bless:)
Thanks so much! God bless
This sounds like is going to be beautiful
Pop a temporary nail in your post to sit your horizontal timbers on, save Tiffany holding it, thay way you can install them 1 person 😊
I do that from time to time, still quicker with an extra set of hands.
Tough fence for sure!
Looks good!

That'll work👍👍👍

Nice job!! Thanks for posting it.... :-)
Glad you enjoyed it!
You could tie your sink water drain into your downspout drain system
Well done !!!👀👀👀

Definitely needs a gate. Super annoying to have to walk around the whole wall whenever you want to get back and forth quickly.

You don't see the backside unless working at my shop. No guests can see the backaide from the house or driving in.

💪 nice!
Nice sturdy fence. Are you going to wrap the end post. A couple of fence boards should dress it. Thanks for the video.
Maybe
I don't believe that fence is going anywhere. Very fine work.
It was just tested 3 days ago by the strongest hurricane on record to ever hit us. No issues!
Well u don't need the storm shelter now, just hide behind the fence! 😂😂
Not related to this video but have u seen the rocket stove water heaters!? Maybe a cool build
Those 40'' deep holes, deep enough for your frostline? lol 🤣 awesome looking fence
No frost line in Florida 🤔
@@TKCL I know that! That's why I asked you that! I was being sarcastic 😂
So where is all the C-Channel on the back for mounting the PVP's ???????
You need to ad you a fishing pond out near the oak tree
May draw to many misquotes.. they r big and plentiful in Florida….lol
Maybe one day
nice fence i wonder if a door might come in handy
No need, I never access the other area except for filter changes every 3 months.
I have never seen someone cut the post off at an angle. Can you explain to me why you did that
Nice work Andrew & Tiffany. Did you use your small pancake air compressor for the house build?
My new one I bought during the entrance fence build. My other 15 year old one died.
Did you have to rip any to fit?
How you keep em plumb, must've been cut straight from factory I'm guessing
I use a level every three boards they are not straight from factory. The very ends I had to rip only two boards.
Will you be planting anything on the outside up against the fence?
No, we are putting in a huge solar array on the backside. We will have planters on the inside.
Some HVAC Guys will say that is too close to the unit. Most want at least 4ft.. Maybe a fence half that size that blocks the view. Meh just me.
Have you considered a gazebo? That would look great and would get you out of the sun.
We have, but don't want to block the night sky since this is also a fire pit area. Shading is also bad for recording.
Yeah!
That ill take care of those NOSEY CHICKENS LOL !!!
🐔 😅😂😂
👍👍
Are you going to build a shed over the Water System?
Yes, removable one.
No gate next to the house to keep from walking all the way around? Did I blink and miss it?
Why do I need a gate there? I only change water filters once every 3 months, otherwise I never enter the area.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Are u standing it gray like the house
That's the plan.
andrew did you flush the hot water heater lately?
Nope, it's time!
@@TKCL i figured i would remind you even after being way super busy! better do that after the bat house!😉
good work on fencing. oh check out the new GM pickup for $8,000 dollars that will be coming out.check out BRIGHT FIRE LIGHTER YOU MAY LIKE. be bless and safe. SAVANNAH TN.
The foam sucks. I used it recently and pulled it back out.
First
Got it!
