    Gabriel, in case you haven’t figured it out yet, you don’t have phone service because T mobile does not offer any service in north Cyprus.
    Just like no international airline flies to the occupied north of Cyprus no legitimate phone company offers service to the occupied north.
    Would you expect T mobile to offer service to Crimea?

      @mn7486 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tenerremzi9202 Yes, you get the Turkish Vodafone there because you are Turkish and have a Turkish cell phone contract.
      But international travelers don’t have any phone service there because no other country except Turkey has roaming there as they do not recognize the occupied part of Cyprus. The only possible phone connection for international travelers is from the free south part of Cyprus, and in many places in the occupied north they get coverage from the antennas in the south.

    This is a truly great series of videos. I know this part of the world reasonably well, but it's interesting and refreshing to see it through a new pair of eyes and from a different perspective. As others have pointed out elsewhere, there is a dearth of videos on Northern Cyprus, little more than 'brave souls' (sic) crossing the border at the end of Ledras Street, or short vids advertising property for sale in Kyrenia. I'll be sad when you leave TRNC :(

    Hi Gabriel, what you can do when you don't have an internet connection is to pre-plan your trip, and make points like A - First stop, B - Second stop and so on. For eg - Start from your hotel then go to Church 1 (Stop A) then Beach (Stop B) then Other place (Stop C) and back to the hotel (Stop D). In this way it will be similar to the way you are traveling without internet , you will get your live location and also don't have to go to only 1 place. I did the same while traveling in Goa, but there is a limit of 10 stops in Google maps. 😅😅 I love watching your videos. And as you just go with the flow, my tip may not be helpful for you 😅😅😅

    Hello Gabriel ... We enjoy your videos a lot and your narration. Thank you. The food that you gave to the donkeys is from a tree called Carob, the pods are green then they turn dark, the pods are then pressed and molasses is made from them which is very healthy and tasty. The donkeys have great taste buds . Carob trees usually are found in Lebanon, Syria, and I guess Cyprus has them as well.

    I am neither A Greek nor a Turkish, but I know the history. When the British decided to give Cyprus its independence in 1960, a measured balance between the Greeks, Turks and the British was put in place, and it worked well until 1974. The radical Greek militias decided to bring back the crazy idea, “Megali Idea”, which translates into stealing its neighbors lands, kicking out the native population.
    That crazy idea, thanks to the British, worked against the Macedonia, Albania and Bulgaria. However, with Turkey the plan did not go well in the early 1920’s. The magnificent Mustafa Kemal had other ideas. Back to the early 1970’s, how did Greeks think, a powerful Turkish military would watch the Turkish people being kicked out of their land and not act?

    Dear Harald, I would very much like to inform you that there is NO such a place as northern Cyprus...there is only " Occupied by the turks part of Cyprus". And i know it very well, because i am a refugee from the turkish invasion in 1974. We were violently forced to leave ourhomes. And that occupied part is only recognised by turkey , not by any other country.

    Just for the record, there is no state called North Cyprus. Actually it is area conquered by Turkey by military invasion 1974 kicking 220000 people out of their homes, and by the threat of conquering the whole country forced the gathering of the 18% Turkish indigenous people to separate from what used to be a mixed country. They are not recognised by the UN but only by Turkey. Trade runs through regulations agreed under the surveillance of the EU

      But I agree, as a non-Greek, after visiting Hagia Sofia while it was a museum and now knowing it’s back to a mosque is quite sad. My heart aches a little too.

    You do a good job Gabriel and I follow your travel blogs, although I thought you spent too much time explaining on why your phone, wifi and GPS were not working well in this segment.
    I also agree with many who want to remind you that it should not be referred as “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” You know very well it doesn’t exist. You claim you follow countries that are recognized by the UN. TRC is not a Republic and doesn’t legally, exist. If you are uncomfortable by saying “ Occupied Cyprus” simply say North or Northern part of Cyprus That would be more acceptable!
    Apostolos Andreas Monastery is one of the most holiest places on Cyprus for worship by GC’s. The monastery had been run down after 1974. The EU has been funding the restoration of the monastery. TC’s want to make part of it, a Muslim prayer room. Against protests of GC’s, That project has since been put on hold
    Thanks and I look forward to following you around the world

      @@Tay12345 are you for real? Your facts are incorrect! No country in the world except Turkey, the Invaders, recognized this invasion or their new illegal State. All UN resolutions to vacate its military etc. were all ignored by Turkey. As if the first part of the invasion in July 1974, was not enough, they carried out a 2nd one 1 month later as negotiations and a cease fire were still ongoing. They raped, tortured and murdered young girls and women. Thousands of GC soldiers were sent to Turkey never to be seen again.
