Nice to see you back Miriam😊 I’ve also had good luck ordering from Abe Books and will have to check out your latest LW edition. One of my all time fav’s as well. My mom was a ‘Royal watcher’ so it was predestined that I’d grow up with a fondness for all things/books Royal 😁 BOGM has me intrigued and look forward to your reviews about it after hearing how much you loved it. Always enjoy your book choices where I can’t resist adding a few to my tbr! ☺️ A great summer book haul 📚and thanks for sharing.
🥹 Miriam! Yay! I'm glad you're back on BookTube 😊 I'm also glad that you're reading Tess! 😆 I just know you're going to love it. Especially because of Ruth 🤭 I can't wait to hear what you think of it.
Yay for Mrs. Pollifax! And so nice to have you back filming videos 😊 Also, I really need to read something by Charlotte Mary Yonge because everyone whose tastes I trust seems to love her.
After Doubt sounded interesting, and that first sentence was indeed profound and intriguing (and I agree with it strongly). Also thought there was a lot of wisdom in what you read about Lord, I Just Want to Be Happy. I'm struggling with that. Happy for you that you found a couple books you deeply enjoyed (Gilded Mountains and Dynevor Terrace). It will be interesting to hear what made them so meaningful. My wife's tastes and yours are very similar. :)
I read The Sea Before Us in August. Wyatt Paxton singing Besame Mucho! Oh myyyylanta! 🫠😍 I bought all of Sarah Sundin books. ❤ I reread Tess of the D’Urbervilles earlier this year. 😭Thomas Hardy is one of my favorite authors. I’ve already started The Woman in White for Victober because I read slow. I can’t find Charlotte M. Yonge books and then they’re expensive when I look on ThriftBooks. 🤨 Great video! 👏🏻Glad you returned! 😊
Wyatt Paxton was such a great character!! And yesss him singing that song!! I can just hear it now... 🎶🎵 The Women in White is so great! Yes they're super expensive on Thriftbooks. I found Dynevor Terrace for I think $15 including shipping from the UK and it's a 1908 edition so I thought that was a really great price. But I think for the most part I'll be using Project Gutenburg for her books and many are also free on kindle. Thanks so much for watching, Amy.🤗
So fun, Miriam! The first Queen Victoria book sounds fascinating! Adding Born of Gilded Mountains! 😮 I just finished the #3 Shardlake! Really enjoyed! I have the #4 Dobbs on hold, but I have a long wait.
I'm happy you're enjoying Tess. I read it in August, loved it, and talked about it in my wrap-up earlier this week. It's one of those books you love or you don't. 😊
I’m definitely enjoying it and am hopeful I will love it by the end! I want to love Thomas Hardy but so far I haven’t found any of his books I’ve read to be to my liking.
Sarah Sundin’s Trilogy you purchased is on my TBR lists, but I have read 2 books of her “Wings of the Nightingale” trilogy which is also set in WWII. I would recommend them especially the first book “With Every Letter”. (If you have watched “Shop Around the Corner” (a favorite film of mine) or its modern version “You’ve Got Mail” you will probably like the plot.)
Oh! I love your editions of the James Herriot books. Did you buy them new or used? I'm in the middle of Book 1 and my edition (new from Barnes & Noble) is fine, but yours are so precious!
I bought them new but did have a harder time finding those editions! I got a couple through Indigo (basically like a Canadian version of B&N) and one from Amazon.
George Eliot can be dense and philosophical but you can start with Silas Marner or my fav of her early works, The Mill on the Floss, and work your way to Romola. I loved her last book, Daniel Deronda SO MUCH! It's really not so scary as you think. ❤ I think it's good you'll have time to process your feelings about KL before reviewing it. I ended up a at a 4 but i would only recommend that book for people who like reading long plotty, descriptive books.
I actually didn't like Silas Marner 🤭 I think next will be the Mill on the Floss! I filmed my Victober TBR and mentioned wanting to read that one next!
Haha shelf space was always an issue for me but I have been getting rid of some books here and there - so far so good! 😅 Thanks! Hoping to film and upload it soon, time has been getting away from me!
I finally got the whole James Herriot series and can't wait to read it. I keep putting it off because I am afraid I won't like it, lol. But I want to read it before I watch the tv show.
Hi Miriam!! So happy you're back :) I clicked on your channel name yesterday to see if you had published any new videos. Great video!! I like this book stack. How do you find buddies to read with you? Do you have instagram? - Canadian viewer :)
That's so sweet! Thanks so much! I generally buddy read with other booktubers or friends on goodreads who have similar reading tastes. I have a personal instagram account but not bookstagram so it's mainly youtube and goodreads! :)
@@miriamelizabethreads Do you know of buddy reading groups I can join? I have similar reading tastes as you :) I would love to buddy read with you if given the chance!! Are you doing victober ? I don't have book tube yet but do read as a hobby :)
