I'm having this procedure done on the same tooth tomorrow morning. I'm not sure yet whether I will have any grafting, but at least seeing the procedure makes me less anxious about having it done. Well presented and everything explained!
@@centerforard It was very helpful. It's all done now and I'm resting at home with an ice pack. He had some trouble getting the root tips out but we made it! Glad I got stitches, the hole feels huge lol. Thanks again.

2 things I would like to add 1st is always use apical pressure on a tooth so that the tooth act like a wedge in a bone and the bone will expand and the tooth will loosen up in the bone socket and this apical pressure also break the PDL ligament 2nd always hold the elevator pressure that you are applying on the tooth for few seconds then release it don't just keep on luxation the tooth I can bet you anybody can extract tooth like a magic
Great additional information. In my surgery fellowship, I learned the importance of tooth lunation prior to actual extraction. It you can get bleeding into the periodontal ligament space, it will help you extract the tooth more easily.
Measure on your computer app. to get a close idea. It is OK if you section 1-2mm apical to the furcation in the center part of the tooth, you just do not want to remove facial or palatal bone if possible. You want to preserve the facial and palatal bone, as much as possible, to hold the graft. Take your practice to the Top Tier. Sir how to be sure root in not within the antrum....and we don't end up forming a OAC while extracting.
