Lauren! I have been using this glaze for a while after watching this vid. I recently got a four piece set off FBMP for $125. I finished the night stands with the smoked glaze and had them listed for $250. Lady offered $200, came over to pick them up and saw I was working on the matching dressers. She offered me $800 for all four and paid me half in advance! WOW! Biggest sale to date!
Please tell me exactly what is Rustoleum glaze paint… I’ve used the chalk paint but not this… I have a round pedestal dining table I painted with Rustoleum oil base paint…. May change just the top for a contrast.. the top has stained and I tried in vain to get them out… please any help… however I don’t do heavy sanding or stripping…🤷🏼♀️just easy peasy stuff😁‼️ thank You much 😁
Just a money saving idea to consider....you can make your own chalk paint easily. And I like it way better than the Rustoleum. Also, the colors are endless and a gallon of “Oops” off-white will last you forever. Not to mention, the sample containers for small products. Just 2 cups paint, 4TBS plaster of Paris, and 2 TBS water. I mix the Plaster and water first until thick and smooth, then gradually add it to the paint while mixing. It dries quickly, so you can work fast. Keep a lid on it if not using. Any grittiness from lumps not mixed out well, just hit with fine grit. I seal mine with one coat of varathane but it isn’t required. I’ve done bedroom furniture to kitchen cabinets and it’s never let me down! I got the recipe from the paint lady at Home Depot, who told me to stop wasting money on chalk paint and make my own! Enjoy!
This is so helpful thank you! I wanted to get chalk paint but it’s so expensive! Also, what type of paint would you recommend? Just any household paint or is it a furniture specific paint?
I’ve used assorted left over paints to make my own chalk paint for years and been pleased with results. Some of the expensive chalks are certainly great but costly for larger pieces. I’ve not used waxes much. I like the Dixie Belle top coat a lot which is costly but goes a long way. Several coats of top coat are very necessary for tops of pieces, otherwise won’t hold up to much use.
@@gk2744 any paint will work. I have noticed a difference with the sheen types. I painted my daughters kitchen cabinets with a white eggshell and then sealed. They looked great 4 years later when they moved!
We renovated the whole house using this method. But just a small correction when using on walls is to add lime or whitewash instead of plaster of Paris. Because plaster of Paris hardens fast and encourage mold growth. But whitewash reduce or even most of the time prevents the mold problem and regulates the humidity very well.

You are so much fun to watch!!! So, from personal experience, stop by U-Hall and pick up a roll of the green wrapping tape. Always wrap furniture with the tape before moving to keep the drawers in and any cabinet doors shut! Good Luck and keep chippin' away at that debt!!!
You can save money on your chalk paint by using primer first then it does not take as many coats of the chalk paint that is double the price of primer. It also gives your paint a better surface for your paint to adhere to. You do a great job and I admire you.
Me too. Big believer in refurbishing and reusing, plus you get one of a kind, beautiful piece that used to be a run of the mill, particle board piece of furniture.

Hard work really does pay off and in your case your student loan debts! Love what you’re doing and the great example you are to others :-) One tip you might be interested in regarding the use of your clamps is to use a block of wood between both ends of the clamp (it displaces the pressure being applied) so as not to dent the piece with the clamp. This type of furniture is the most typical stuff that ends up in our landfills and you knocked it out of the park with such a great makeover! Great Job. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe invest in some primer so you don't waste so much chalk paint. You go girl!
I've found 2 coats are needed anyways, even on light colored furniture, so the coat of primer is a waste if 2 coats cover fine. I have seen her prime dark furniture or real wood pieces that might bleed. I heavily thin my 2nd coat of chalk paint which saves paint and gives a better finish coat without brush marks.

Lauren, so glad I discovered your channel!! Just working on my first chalk painted project. Your tips are super helpful! Look forward to checking out more of your videos. (PS I was a kindergarten teacher, too…100 years ago lol)
Hey Lauren it's awesome to see you get those power tools and fix stuff as you go....also when I had started with the Furniture stuff ...I actually went backwards...where I Leaned how to fix stuff first and then went into stripping and staining Only .then being I Loved the results BUT figured and saw people don't Really Like or buy brown furniture anymore hahaha..so this is why I ask so many questions about painting as I am totally a beginner with the painting and sealing ON paint...So whenever You Need to know a quick tip about fixing furniture ...just shoot me an email and I will definitely help you ....👍🤩
You might wish to pre-drill even a small pilot hole with particle board. Also if you have a bit that's about the size of the screw head and drill down about 1/8" you'll find you needn't so much pressure to get screw to countersink. Pine's easy and soft. Really like the finish!

To minimize the brush strokes, take a 220 sand paper and do a quick sand in between coats and you’ll have a perfect smooth finish and no brush marks😊
Hand sanding the amount of surface area she painted in this video would likely make any regular person go insane.
I was wondering how to deal with that. I did the first coat with a brush and the brush strokes drove me nuts so I switched to a roller.

Here's another tip for you. If you run across a metal tractor seat, snatch it up! They fit nicely on top a mini dolly. It will get you up off the floor so you can scoot around you piece as you are painting, sanding and sealing. It will save your and toes! Love you videos! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Just found you on TH-cam and am so enjoying your videos. Inspirational!
I love the color. Great job
Thank you! 🤗
Wow 🤩 just wow I just watch your video for the first time . I love your cause and how passionate you are I can tell you really enjoy this . Same here I love buying furniture on FB marketplace and flip them for my home and I even sold a few piece as my taste of decor change over the years. I wish I had space to store things because that’s something on my list to do someday when I buy a home is to start flipping furniture . You inspire me
This by far is my most favorite...it is soooooooooooo pretty.....I love it

When you glazed the long dresser I was worried it would dry before you could wipe away the excess. This is what qualifies for suspense in my life rn 😆

I’m not one to shy away from particle board either. It can be beautiful when it’s dolled up!
I’d rather work on those than waste them. I mean, why not? I have used the stain glaze too-love it!
Lauren, so glad I discovered your channel!! Just working on my first chalk painted project. Your tips are super helpful! Look forward to checking out more of your videos. (PS I was a kindergarten teacher, too…100 years ago lol)
I love you work for a beginner.
Hey Lauren it's awesome to see you get those power tools and fix stuff as you go....also when I had started with the Furniture stuff ...I actually went backwards...where I Leaned how to fix stuff first and then went into stripping and staining Only .then being I Loved the results BUT figured and saw people don't Really Like or buy brown furniture anymore hahaha..so this is why I ask so many questions about painting as I am totally a beginner with the painting and sealing ON paint...So whenever You Need to know a quick tip about fixing furniture ...just shoot me an email and I will definitely help you ....👍🤩
U did a beautiful job. I'm gonna do my bedroom suite
I'm here just catching up with your journey. This is my favorite look. I love what it adds to the pieces.
I love it.You did an awesome job.well done. That accent brings it to a new level.
It does! Thanks for watching, Mary!
you are doing a great job . you should try a 4 in mini foam roller , no brush strokes
You are such a good teacher!
You might wish to pre-drill even a small pilot hole with particle board. Also if you have a bit that's about the size of the screw head and drill down about 1/8" you'll find you needn't so much pressure to get screw to countersink. Pine's easy and soft. Really like the finish!
Ahhh, thank you! Thanks for watching!
Well you are and will be very busy ! Great video. Thanks for sharing. Subscribed.
