Bar-Headed Goose is one of the world's highest-flying birds. The high altitude lakes and valleys are their preferred habitats. They breed in Central Asia and winters in South Asia.
Ducks, Geese and Swans belong to the same family (Anatidae) but are different in many ways. Ducks have approximately 16 neck bones, while geese and swans have 17-24 neck bones. Geese have smaller head and shorter bill than ducks compared to their body size. Geese have longer neck and protruding kind of lump around vent. Ducks pair and bond only during breeding phase, male takes no role in raising the young. Whereas, the Geese and swans form stronger family bonds that can last for many seasons, years or even sometimes for lifetime in maintaining family bonds (even during migrations).
