I love how I have no idea what you're talking about at the beginning of the video and learn not just the original topic but layers of nuance by the end. Ty.
Baseline/out of bounds serves as an extra help-defender too.
Your channel is extremely helpful and innovative. I've watched your video on why texas tech and Michigan were top tanked defensives in the country about 20 times and installed the principles I learnt about the texas tech scheme into my U15 and U17 side teams, this video already has me looking forward to next season to make improvements on it
Finally starting to accept former Boston Celtics Assistant Coach/Defensive Coordinator Tom Thibodeau's former teachings about "Ice"
Ice is most effective when the on-ball defender forces the ball handler towards the baseline, and the defender guarding the screener traps the ball handler while the help defense plays the passing lanes which shrinks the floor and forces the offense to throw a skip pass. it keeps the offense away from the middle of the court.
Best ice coverage explanation I’ve heard. Now I understand the consequence of giving up middle. It creates easier reads if help comes.
This is really good stuff!! - for junkie fans and coaches at different levels considering to implement
What a great video. Thank you so much!
this was so good bro
Because everyone is running packline like Virginia with Malcom brogden with an increase in side pnr
My dumb ass read icing letter for letter like it stood for something. Lmao
Very helpful
Cant wait for 8th grade year
💪
Could incorporating "screen the screener" teamplay options prey upon the Icing revolution? Imho Icing should be just as flawed as the other tactics teams use. A team could let a good ballhandling forward screen the screener (less good at ballhandling) for a lob pass. If they switch we have a mismatch close to the rim. After that the forward should be avalable the killzone for recieving a pass from the ballhandler. This way the team has the ball in a playmakers hands closer to the rim in the middle of the court. Therefore all passing options available. Ofcourse just brainfarts... but I gotta start somewhere... I like strategy puzzles.
It is called a hedge . It is the best way to defend ball screens in college
No it isn't. Lock and Trail is. Hedge gives up the open 3 every time.
Until they move that 3 pt line back the college game is going to be a low percentage shooting game. Most coaches wouldn't let players shoot that pro shot.
Mike Patton not enough spacing but it makes for good team basketball. Definitely not best for entertainment and ratings though
Ball-side Corner SHOOTER would help & NO LOW POST. 😀😀😀
They would have to dedicate 3 defenders to only 2 offensive players = advantage offense
With elite playmakers on the next level ice isn’t as effective.
it is effective especially against elite players. you need role players/shooters who knows how to relocate themselves to make the pass easier to go thru if the ball handler attacks the paint.
especially the 3 pt corner. you will need them.
