  • I turn 4 bland pressure treated 6 x 6 posts into a statement piece on the front of my new build house. I go with a tiered post design w/ a wider base and a cedar wrapped top.

Thank You! I love cedar. Looks beautiful! Could you please make a video about your railing that you mentioned in this video; what did you use and describe the process. It looks good.

Why is it sticking out over the edge? Looks kinda funky.

I would have done the same thing by raising the blocking up above the brackets. Even though the trim would have covered the gaps u would have always known and it probably would have bothered u in the future. It looks so much better after u raised the blocking up.

Seth I got a question. I’m wrapping my Columns which are currently 4”x 6” posts so basically gonna have a rectangle. I’m gonna stucco the posts so is osb ok to use as paneling?

Sorry for the delayed response. I need to look at my comments more often. OSB is probably fine. If it was me, I probably would use a higher grade plywood. I'm probably a bit too cautious but OSB likes to soak up too much water for my taste. Hope the project works out!

Nice work. Why cedar on top?

Cedar is weather resistant. Lasts a lot longer than than most other woods in the weather. And I like how it looks.

This is nothing but mistakes. I can make a video of that.
