Honestly I don’t think one is better than the other. @nutsack918 Stop bitching. By playing the game online, and with summons, you're acknowledging that invaders can and likely will appear in your world. If that bothers you this much, I think you're playing the wrong game, or need to pull the plug entirely.
@@Hahayouauck It's a highly enjoyable feature for many. Why do you think From Software is consistent I'm putting it in their games. Go play Monster Hunter if all you want is Co Op. Maybe you should just try to invade. You never know. You may find it enjoyable. Invasions can give you some of the most chaotic but highly dynamic gameplay that you can't get from just the pve. Learning how to use your environment, learning counters to other players' play styles? It's just fun, my guy. Making a mean build and getting into a villain mindset is fun. It's also a way to reveal just how far you can test the game's combat in a lot of different ways. People tend to settle in their comfortable way of fighting the enemy AI, but fighting a human player who is good at the game forces you to adapt and get better as well.
So how do you typically go about stealth invasions? I've always wanted to but I can't really do souls pvp sadly. But it would be nice to have an idea of how it works at least.
@@Scott.E.H Well first of all I’m always gonna have on Furled Finger Trick-Mirror and Concealing veil equipped, they are pretty much required or at least imho. A majority of the time it’s a patience game, waiting for the perfect time to get a cheeky kill or separation. Defenses can be an issue since you usually want a fashion that blends in well with surroundings. There’s also not very many armor setups that have a decent poise amount while also looking stealthy. Also there’s like a 50/50 chance that spawns will just ruin what you’re trying to do so it’s good to have something that can deal with that (This video in particular kinda shows what I mean). I’m not gonna lie by saying that it isn’t difficult, it can be but the fun of it overshadows all of that at least for me. TLDR: stalk from a distance, and wait for what you think will be an opportune time to strike. Patience is your best friend. I hope that is helpful 😁

Excellent vid as always.😎👌 That being said, why did you go for the dagger toss at 10:45 , and not just a R2? The R2’s on Night Claws throw multiple night daggers.
The sword was the sword of night. The bow was ansbachs bow. I think hes also using the claws of night as well. Armor is confessors hood and ansbachs set
@@Zola_The_Gorgon Aye, i use it for invasions myself. Btw, the bow is scaling the same with str and dex? i think you get more dmg out of it if u go 50 str/50 dex. after u hit 60 dex (softcap) u get less dmg out of each point, while u get more from the other =)
True. The only reason I have 99 dex is for the claws and katana since they have no str scaling and high dex. But if you wanted to focus the bow definitely do a split.
Ngl, as cool as all the DLC shit is, seeing how those L2philes were given straight-up mods (The Consort Radahn dude), I'll just stick with helping people fight bosses or something😭🙏

dope video love to see u back, gotta ask, what were your overall thoughts on the dlc? and specifically in the final boss? i loved the dlc but i felt like there were too many empty places, and kinda dissaponted they didnt introduce a good dex dagger, rn reduvia/erdtree/cinqueda are in the top for quite a big margin and damn i thought fan shot from the bow would be a mainly malee to mid range combat, but it seems like the arrows you can hit are capped to like 3 cuz from hitting people from far away didnt change the damage that much from using it melee and hitting all the arrows
I loved the dlc. I like how even though it’s very open a lot of the areas are interconnected. I’ve played through it on three different characters now and each one has found a spot that connects to an area that I didn’t know it would. And it’s so scenic (I like the ruins area the most). As for the final boss… I don’t know how many times he handed my cheeks back to me on a silver platter. I won’t lie, the first playthrough I fought him took a couple days 😅 Also I agree, the throwing daggers are nice but the rapier dagger was very underwhelming
@@Zola_The_Gorgon while i really liked and appreciate the finger ruins, i really expected something to do in there, feels like a bit of a waste to go to such a cool place and leave after 2 minutes lol, prolly my fav zone was the madness swamp, really cool to see fs doing new things, actually felt a bit scared and midra is such a cool boss
It’s because of the Rya walk. It’s a tech where you crouch and swap weapons at the same time. It lets you sprint at full speed while crouched. Nice lil tech
I still have no idea why it registers the full 5 arrow shot damage if only one connects. Any which way it's nice to see bows being sth more than horrible.
Doesnt the bow still scale fairly better with strength than going all the way up to 99 dex? i gess the two night weapons having absolutely no scaling aside from dexterity didnt leave any other option, also bows are always 2 handed so there is always even more
@@Zola_The_Gorgon maybe adding the spear talisman on top and using a trusting weapon with quality infusion could maximize how many equipment benefits from the talismans
Stormhawks at Rampart Tower grace. You farm the feathers for crafting. After making about 500 of them I backed up my save because it took way too long to get them.
I’ve done that too but with the greatbow instead. If you use the great golden arrows you can shoot them at your feet for a golden vow buff and it can help a bit. :)
@Thee_Gorgonzola the sword of epitaph is actually a great buff for bow builds since each arrow shot gets 25 faith damage so on arrows specially it's basically a 25% buff
For like all the bows? Besides Radahn’s Greatbow and Serpent Bow I think the dlc bows outclass all of the base game ones. Igon’s can one shot people with the ash but so can Radahn’s most of the time. I’d probably say Ansbach’s is the best default bow for damage if you have 43 dex. But if you’re wanting to apply status you can’t go wrong with the serpent bow. And personally I really like the horn bow, it just looks cool.
@@Zola_The_Gorgon I like Radahn's greatbow too. For dlc, I used Bone bow, cause its tracking is really nice just like the new cannon. It is hard to compare Ansbach's bow with the new aow fan arrows, since I can put that aow on any bow I like. Oh, I also forget the machine gun pulley bow, that can proc status quite fast in PVE.
10% that and 8% with the arrow talisman. The thing is I think it could go even further but I love my two other talismans to give them up… oddly enough the Beast talisman doesn’t stack with Alexander’s, I find that really weird
@@Zola_The_Gorgon That is weird. I've also done testing with the 2 handed Talisman a couple days ago, and it also doesn't buff bow damage. I suppose it makes sense, considering it would literally be better than the Arrows sting, but still stinks it doesn't work on bows.
my understanding is that it's only doing that damage because of a bug that causes that particular animation to apply the full damage of ALL the spread arrows to any individual arrow. so whether you're hit at point blank by all the arrows or hit from like 30 meters by just 1 of the arrows, you still take the full damage. though obviously there are other boosts going on here, it's clear that if this bug were fixed, in most of the cases in this video the damage would vastly reduced, from e.g. 500 to more like 50.
Honestly, I don’t know if it’s the best option but it has pretty consistent results from my experience. And idk how well it would work against more than one player using it, that might be game over 😢
you can use backstep talisman to dodge it pretty reliably. look I understand peoples desire to nerf it, I do, but are we not allowed to have fun anime shit that actually functions? I genuinely hope if it gets nerfed its a pvp only nerf.
This is very useful information, thank you! And I half agree with you. Granted I haven’t even thought about using it yet it seems…overtuned. But it’s early and I’m certain people will find more and more consistent counters to it.
could always just wait for a nerf before pvping. I'm not even doing invasions till there's a patch, considering there's lots of pve content to get through, and considering the generally broken state of pvp balance with lots of objectively broken stuff that everyone is using, across the spectrum from casual to tryhard. main issues for me are the presence of several bugs (or really just misconfigured animations) that allow weapons to do many times the damage of a normal weapon or even kill you with minimal counterplay at low latency, _without_ any of the difficulty/complexity of existing balance-shattering bugs like 9822 or chainsaw, which served as a "barrier to entry" to ensure that the vast majority of players you encountered did not use such bugs, so when you did encounter it, you could take it in stride, knowing the next match would be different. and the broken items are _everywhere_ right now, everyone is using them without even necessarily trying to exploit the glitches because it just so happens that many of the coolest looking weapons/abilities are also the most broken lol. even if there _was_ a counter for all of it, I'd still rather play after most of it is patched, before I get burned out on elden ring again. and there isn't _really_ a counter for all of it, besides "heavily restrict your build choices" and "git gud." personally, I had already maxed out the fire knight's greatsword before I noticed that it had a true combo that one-shot most players at 125 without 60 vigor + morgott's rune. it just looked cool, I didn't even bother to look it up since I could tell from the moveset it was going to be garbage in pvp just like all the other post-nerf colossal swords. turns out I overestimated from soft's QA team and unwittingly killed a bunch of players with an inescapable one-shot combo. I played a lot of dark souls, so I still have a bad habit of instinctively R1ing twice after the first hit. I especially facepalm when I do it with slow weapons. so for week 1 of SOTE, I had been wondering why nobody seemed to be dodging my 2nd swing. find out later, from a youtube video, the weapon was bugged and I must have been ruining the experience for a bunch of casual players and making them rage quit for a week straight. in other words, it'd be one thing if you had to go out of your way and perform some precise timing to break the game, since that has already been the status quo for a long time, with obscenely powerful exploits that anyone can technically use, provided they know what to do, invest the time to master it, and are degenerate enough to actually grief another player with it. but at the moment, there are thousands of players like me just wandering around unknowingly performing a glitch that does the same damage as the chainsaw glitch (your full healthbar) in most cases, albeit with more counterplay (easier to dodge). or trapping you in swift slash hell, or one-shotting you with lightning perfume, bleeding you in one R2 with a giant chicken wing, or one of a dozen other things. anyway, wishing that a completely broken weapon is not nerfed because it's fun anime shit is just... 🤦♀ there is no pvp-only fix for this. the problem with swift slash is not how much damage or poise damage it does to players, it's not some simple numeric value that can be adjusted for players only, it's the fundamentals of the attack animation. it's just a badly designed ability. there's no telegraph on the dash, the player completely disappears for a moment, the hitbox is ridiculously long and wide, the slash flurry that follows is even _less_ telegraphed (you know it comes some short period after the dash, but how long after? there's no buildup to it, the slash just appears suddenly and is already doing damage), the damage is very high for such a low-commitment, low-risk attack, the slash flurry applies status effects from the weapon, the slash flurry bypasses shields because its hitbox is ALL AROUND YOU, and just to make everything 10 times worse, there's almost no time between recovering from the first swift slash to doing it a 2nd time, making it perhaps the most spammable ash of war that does damage. so, how do you address any of that for pvp only? I agree with you that, all things being equal, if possible, within reason, nerfs done for the sake of pvp balance should only impact pvp. but the important keywords there are "all things being equal," "if possible," and "within reason." in this case it's just not possible. and really, that same logic could be applied to the chainsaw glitch. is the chainsaw glitch okay for PVE? is it okay that you can kill any boss in milliseconds because of the developer's mistake? of course not. they clearly didn't intend the chainsaw glitch, they've tried to fix it many times and have just failed to close all avenues. swift slash isn't as obviously unintentional, but I do think we'll see a nerf, and it's very likely it will be nerfed in PVE too, because this game doesn't have pvp-only animations, and it's the animations that are broken. and from soft won't lose any sleep over nerfing it in pve, for the same reason they nerfed the terra magicka cerulean hidden tear laser spam builds in the leadup to the DLC. and it's not because they don't want us to have nice things - they clearly spent quite a lot of effort creating these highly autistic light greatsword animations because they want us to enjoy fun anime shit. PVE balance is just as important as PVP balance, arguably even more important because there are a lot more players playing PVE. from one perspective, it is disappointing for it to be nerfed in PVE, because it isn't really that good in PVE. what's powerful about it is specifically powerful against small enemies that can be stun locked, especially humans who are susceptible to psychological warfare (which this AoW constitutes IMO). so would you even really use it in PVE? there are many more damaging moves you could be using that would be more effective against bosses. so what I'm getting at is, if you enjoy this particular ash so much that you even use it in PVE, then maybe you'll still enjoy it after it's been nerfed?
I’ve been getting nonstop invasions ever since the dlc came out. Before that there would be some times where I’d have to wait but it wasn’t ever long. Personally I don’t notice much of a difference between the two brackets but 200 is very fun

Im a wannabe invader but not a fan of the typical cheese like ROB, moonveil, swift slash crap so ive been loving your videos, but i got to ask ive heard that 138 is the invade level , your at 200 what makes it great or better yet what is the difference you think. Oh side question do the scaldtree blessings effect invade level?
Honestly I don’t think one is better than the other. At 138 you can connect to people at 125 (which is the meta level I.e. dueling, tournaments etc.) and 150 (which is where a decent amount of players sit. And personally I’ve never noticed a difference besides the 50 or so extra levels of versatility. It’s just a pretty fun and active level bracket to invade in and I’ve noticed quite a few streamers trying it out so I’m feeling like I’m on to something lol. Also no, not that I’m aware of at least on your side. I believe when you invade you’re affected by the hosts blessing level
@Thee_Gorgonzola OK I'll level myself up to 200 to try it out

We're two years after release, DLC heaven time, and gankers still get cooked by invaders spawning. Let it be so. 🙏
What backwards logic, if you're invading someone you literally deserve to get ganked, you invaded, they did not ask for PvP or to be invaded, don't wanna be ganked? Do PvP in the arena.
@@Hahayouauckdude he’s saying it’s funny how after two years some people haven’t figured out invaders and phantoms spawn in with Invincibility. No need for a rant, invasions are a mechanic and we, the invader the obstacle. That’s how it’s always been and will be.
@@Zola_The_Gorgon Doesn't mean it's an enjoyable feature, some of ya'll invaders are mad annoying and live only to be that way. 🤔

Cool build, is there a particular reason why you chose Hero to be your starting class?
Not really, I’ve used this character to make quite a lot of builds, but I have always found Hero a pretty versatile class to make builds on so long as you don’t need Int
I think I might be a dex main now. This build is incredibly fun.
What bow are you using?
Can you post the item and talisman? Looks dope
Excellent vid as always.😎👌

Ansbach’s Longbow
@@Zola_The_Gorgon ahh yeh that one is nice. You use the Talisman for stealth while crouching aswell?
@@atalasstefano62 yessir. It’s probably my favorite talisman, and really good against far away mages.
Ngl, as cool as all the DLC shit is, seeing how those L2philes were given straight-up mods (The Consort Radahn dude), I'll just stick with helping people fight bosses or something😭🙏

dope video love to see u back, gotta ask, what were your overall thoughts on the dlc? and specifically in the final boss? i loved the dlc but i felt like there were too many empty places, and kinda dissaponted they didnt introduce a good dex dagger, rn reduvia/erdtree/cinqueda are in the top for quite a big margin
and damn i thought fan shot from the bow would be a mainly malee to mid range combat, but it seems like the arrows you can hit are capped to like 3 cuz from hitting people from far away didnt change the damage that much from using it melee and hitting all the arrows
I won’t lie, the first playthrough I fought him took a couple days 😅
Also I agree, the throwing daggers are nice but the rapier dagger was very underwhelming
Why is your two handed sprinting animation different?
It’s because of the Rya walk. It’s a tech where you crouch and swap weapons at the same time. It lets you sprint at full speed while crouched. Nice lil tech
James Bond is my favorite movie series!! Amazing build! What's the armor set?
I still have no idea why it registers the full 5 arrow shot damage if only one connects. Any which way it's nice to see bows being sth more than horrible.
Doesnt the bow still scale fairly better with strength than going all the way up to 99 dex? i gess the two night weapons having absolutely no scaling aside from dexterity didnt leave any other option, also bows are always 2 handed so there is always even more
It definitely would do more with a better split. Originally this build was more focused on the katana and claws… but then I got the bow lol
@@Zola_The_Gorgon maybe adding the spear talisman on top and using a trusting weapon with quality infusion could maximize how many equipment benefits from the talismans

How did you farm your arrows?
Stormhawks at Rampart Tower grace. You farm the feathers for crafting. After making about 500 of them I backed up my save because it took way too long to get them.
I tried making a faith bow build with the erdtree bow and then coded swords for closerange but it was asscheeks :(
I’ve done that too but with the greatbow instead. If you use the great golden arrows you can shoot them at your feet for a golden vow buff and it can help a bit. :)
@Thee_Gorgonzola the sword of epitaph is actually a great buff for bow builds since each arrow shot gets 25 faith damage so on arrows specially it's basically a 25% buff
what is your favourite bow? mind doing a ranking for recommendations?
Damn, how much of a boost does that talisman give? Those arrows are doing a lot more damage than bows usually do.
500 to more like 50.
so the Dueling shield is your anti-swift slash countermeasure?
is that the best option right now?
@@ShadowAraun it needs a cooldown, at least for the aftershock
could always just wait for a nerf before pvping. I'm not even doing invasions till there's a patch, considering there's lots of pve content to get through, and considering the generally broken state of pvp balance with lots of objectively broken stuff that everyone is using, across the spectrum from casual to tryhard. main issues for me are the presence of several bugs (or really just misconfigured animations) that allow weapons to do many times the damage of a normal weapon or even kill you with minimal counterplay at low latency, _without_ any of the difficulty/complexity of existing balance-shattering bugs like 9822 or chainsaw, which served as a "barrier to entry" to ensure that the vast majority of players you encountered did not use such bugs, so when you did encounter it, you could take it in stride, knowing the next match would be different. and the broken items are _everywhere_ right now, everyone is using them without even necessarily trying to exploit the glitches because it just so happens that many of the coolest looking weapons/abilities are also the most broken lol. even if there _was_ a counter for all of it, I'd still rather play after most of it is patched, before I get burned out on elden ring again. and there isn't _really_ a counter for all of it, besides "heavily restrict your build choices" and "git gud."
personally, I had already maxed out the fire knight's greatsword before I noticed that it had a true combo that one-shot most players at 125 without 60 vigor + morgott's rune. it just looked cool, I didn't even bother to look it up since I could tell from the moveset it was going to be garbage in pvp just like all the other post-nerf colossal swords. turns out I overestimated from soft's QA team and unwittingly killed a bunch of players with an inescapable one-shot combo.
