Stephanie Marie, I’m 61 yo and I’ve spent this past COVID year watching TH-cam videos to learn how to apply makeup. I’ve watched hundreds of videos and yours is the FIRST that I’ve been able to follow - with successful results! Thank you so much. I don’t have to be Cleopatra anymore! 🥰😘😘🌺🌺
Love how u can tell the difference when u had 1 eye done.. After trying so many wing techniques I realized the fold at my outer corner just can't handle it. You and Risa does makeup have the BEST techniques for hooded eyes. Starting at the lower lash line has made such a big difference even with my fold.. And using shadow is SO MUCH EASIER. thank you so much for this as I picked up even more tips. ohhh i just received the MORPHE M412 OMG it's a pointed crease brush that helps me to keep the transition shade above the crease and no where near the outer fold which makes it look worse. I didn't realize how much a brush could help with hooded eyes. I was using the mac fluffy brush but i hope this helps anyone struggling. get ANY POINTED crease brush!! Love your videos Stephanie!!!
Lynn DeCarlo I have have the same eye...I just can't do a wing because of the bone structure of the crease. I thought for a long time that maybe I just suck at doing a wing. What a revelation! Duh! Why I didn't realize that it was just down to my eye shape and not technique I have no idea. 😋
Is it just me but one eye always comes out better than the other. Does that happen to everyone? I'm a leftie so left eye is better. Also liquid liner bleeds at my inner corner. Is there a product that doesn't?
+Toby Catone You're not alone! It's my left eye because it's more hooded and has a fold that interrupts my liner. My right side turns out so much better always! I rarely take my liner to my inner corner because it makes my eyes look closer together. Have you tried topping it with shadow or using cake liner?
Try Maybelline Eye Studio Gel eyeliner, or Bobbi Brown. I find those have better staying power. I'll also wet my eyeliner brush, run it through eyeshadow, & tap it on the sink to get off fallout. It will create a softer, liquid liner effect.
I just bought Cover Girl gel eyeliner with tiny, tiny brush but it's super thick and wants to go on in clumps. Any ideas on what I can thin it with (just a little bit) so it will be easier to work with and I can put it on more like a liquid??? Any ideas would really be appreciated!!! Thanks guys!!!
I’m left handed as well but it’s always my right eye that turns out better for some reason. I love the gel liners - my favorite is from Marc Jacobs and most people don’t know this, but there is a sharpener in the bottom of the shank.
Finally! After 40 years I have a cute hooded eye! Lol! BEST hooded eye video ever!!! I just did my liner along with you and OMG - life changing!!! Love you so much!!!! 😘
I have to admit, the first time I watched this video, I was perplexed by this eyeliner technique. Months later as I was coming to terms with my aging, hooded eyes I realized I needed to change some of my techniques. I played around and what I ended up doing was basically a halfa** version of what you show here. I went back and watched this again, and now my eyeliner technique is at a higher level. Thanks again, you rock!
This was a great tutorial! I turned 51 in May and have noticed that my eyes have changed (More lines, hooded, etc) I love eye liner though, but don't like a wing. My normal routine is a thicker line across my whole eye, but then all you can see when I open my eye, is the liner. I am going to practice this look, because I think it would help so much. Thanks for sharing!
I loved how you got up super close when you did the liner because it was so easy to see exactly how you were lining your lid. Love when you daughter is in the videos...she is so sweet! Thanks for the video!
Hi Stephanie! I have big eyes but they are deep set. Your technique helped me with the application of the transition shade. If I put it too much in the crease my eyes look so sunken in! Thanks for sharing!
I just found your channel. You use a ton of tricks I already use. And I absolutely LOVE how you are concentrating on a more, every day, "minimalist" approach to makeup. I don't think it's shown enough on YT. I believe that there's something to be said for concentrating more on what you have, and less makeup to create a beautiful look that's just as, if not more affective, then what we've become accustomed to seeing. I'm not saying it's bad, but youthfulness isn't always chiseled cheekbones. And there is so much more to take into consideration.. As for this video.. I know that smudging out a pencil liner isn't necessary, with or without shadow... sometimes you just don't have that time. But I really think it should be. lol I think it makes the liner look more complete. Another trick I will use if I'm extra shaky is, I will take a super thin, straight liner brush to help stencil in that outter line as well as to help connect it evenly, before thickening it up with the pencil. There are definitely days I need help with that. My hands get way too shaky.
I find that curling my eyelashes before drawing the eyeliner helps prevent smudging and wiping away the liner. This way you don't have to go back and fix things😉👌 Also it's easier to tight line when your lashes are curled😁👍
This was so great Stephanie, my eye shape is very similar to yours and this technique will help so much, thank you! Really loving this series and how realistic your videos are!!
This is a wonderful technique, and I can't wait to try it. I have not seen any other videos that have so clearly explained how to improve this type of eye shape. Your results are beautiful! Thanks!
That was amazing. What a difference such little liner made. I have really hooded eyes and will definitely be giving this little trick a go. Thank you 😍😍
Thank you so much for this video! I have small downturned eyes and was searching for a natural, every day, softer look to lift and widen this eye shape, but I’ve been watching so many tutorials for downturned eyes and they all used a harsh black liquid liner, false eyelashes, heavy shadows etc. I am with you on using eye shadow as a soft liner because it looks so soft and natural! ❤️ Thanks again!
This was explained SO well! I might actually be able to pull this off , which is super exciting ! I've tried so many different tricks/tips for winged liner and it never works right, but This isn't taking liner outside of the guideline or near my fold. I've started using shadow as liner, glad to know this will work for that too :)
Stephanie, Your makeup looks just beautiful. Very natural and I LOVE this pallette colours- I'm gonna buy it! I love your videos and can't wait till you upload more! Thanks xxx
I have small downturned deep set hooded eyes and I've not been able to find a way of lining that worked. I am thrilled to find this video. I'll be trying this.
Wow Stephanie exceptionally done very well explained and I love this technique I am 60 plus years old I have the same eye shape problem concerned whatever and I'm going to try this but now are you saying that I Shadow is better for the line or are you using that Urban Decay pencil is that a gel pencil what kind is it thank you
It's really your preference and what you feel more comfortable using and are quicker with. I like shadow a bit more but when I use a pencil, UD is one of my top picks! Thank you!!
Great video! This is something I've tried to achieve, but not quite the same technique. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. I can't wait to try it like this! I have been merely tightlining my upper lid, but feel like it's not giving me quite enough definition.
Looks really good. Yay I've been doing it like this for awhile so I guess I've been doing it right!! I can't do what alot of other beauty you tubers do because it looks weird on me. This is perfect girl!!
Very pretty! I always line my eyes (top) because I think it really helps at my age. I have found that tight lining works very well because it doesn't take up any additional lid space, however, I have a hard time not blinking when I do so. Have you ever tried tight lining? Or is that something you prefer not to do? I would love to see a tutorial on tight lining. Thanks.
+TAMMY TURNER I have tightlined but for some reason I don't do it that often....extra time I guess? I can work that into an eye video for sure bc it's definitely a technique that works for many people...especially hooded eyes! Thanks Tammy!
Love this look. I am definitely going to give it a try. My eyes are very similar to yours, with the same issues, but worse! I'm 53 and now have some sagging to my hooded lids...which makes makeup application a challenge, in addition to making me look older and tired. No skincare product (including retin A) has helped much, and I am not up for surgery...yet... so I am trying hard to deal with it. But boy does this suck!
Dear Stephanie, thank you so much for all your work you have done. Thanks to you I bought Armani Tint Cold Copper and I have been wearing it since that day very very often, it is just ideal eye tint for me. I also have the same type of eyes and will try your techniques tomorrow. All the best to you!
Great video!! I figured this out myself over a lifetime too!! I would have loved this video about 30 years ago! This video will help soooo many people!!
I just came across your channel. You've got a new subscriber! I've got the exact same eye shape: deep set, down turned, slightly hooded eyes (with the down outer line thing) that are uneven. I've been doing my liner similar to this for years. In response to the liner coming off when you curl your lashes, I always curl mine before I apply shadow or liner. At first they will seem to get in the way, but once you're used to it, it's awesome! No more liner transfer onto your curler. (And urban decay is my favorite too!)
@@geblankensmith ok wonderful, gonna try this tomorrow !! Thank you for responding! Cuz I have a problem putting on mascara cuz they're coated w liner pencil at the base to a degree that I cant make them look fine... cuz thats the look I like. Not think or clumpy
what brushes are you using? i use a combo of Ecotools and Walmart brand brushes, but i'm just beginning to really use eye shadows since being required to wear masks at work at most times
These are awesome tips I will def be trying the eye liner technique for sure ,my lids are hooded now (30 year old lids haha) and I use the same exact eye shadow techniques you do. Now I feel like I'm actually doing it right after all! But I don't wear eye liner anymore with my hooded lids its just not worth it..but I am trying this tomorrow! I'm so glad I found your channel
Love the colors you chose. I have the same eyes just a little older where I would have to hold the eye to be able to get liner to go on in preferred line.
I always struggled with curling my eyelashes after applying eyeliner. Thought it was just me, until you mentioned that it happens to you too!😊Loved your tutorial!
Just found your video for downturned eyes. I have been searching for something like this! I know what makeup trick I'll be trying tomorrow. Thank you so much!
Stephanie Marie...try and try again, right. It was going okay until I got to the fold by me eyes. Just enough to make my eyeliner slip. Not too bad though. I can tell a difference. Thank you so much!
This was great info! I have a hard time doing a wing but this looks doable! I do always line & curl my eyelashes because it makes such a huge difference. Thanks
Great video. Urban Decay Demolition is my favorite pencil liner. I use it more often than not. It's much less harsh on my fair skin. I'm 44 and love wing liners, but they do not flatter my eye type. I have to do little kitten flicks, if anything.
thank God! I've never seen any tutorial like urs with so many helpful tips &tricks. I can't wait till I try it out later on after i put the kids dwn for a nap then I'll have some me time... hehehe.... TO play with makeup! thats girls for yah,ay? Thank u so much!!!
Hi Stephanie 😊 Great tutorial! I have kind of a weird question... Do you recommend a particular sharpener for eye and lip pencils? It seems the ones I've been using never get it sharpened to a nice point. Thanks so much for the advice! Love your channel!
+Katie Haugen It's funny you ask this because I almost put one in my faves this month!! I still may in March! I was like you. I've had a Sonia Kashuk one and a Sephora one for a long while and they did the job but not great. I picked up the NARS one in Feb and it's fantastic!! Thank you!
Awesome awesome AWESOME tutorial! I can't wait to try this uplifted/mini wing!!!!! I can just tell this is going to make me love eyeliner for the first time :)
Just found this video and I love it!!! So good been watching tutorials for years (plus I’m over 30 and been doing my own makeup for 15 years lol) and feel like this is the first time I’m learning how to do pencil liner haha thanks girl! Binging on your videos like crazy today!!
Okay, I've only watched 2 of your videos thus far and I'm completely hooked!:) I don't normally subscribe to anybody but I am going to do so with you. You're a complete godsend. Thank you so, so much! I suspect I'll be binge watching all your vids for a spell.
Thank you, your videos are so relaxing to watch. Really helps to see whole process. Think my transition shade needs to be darker. Your brows look amazing btw. ✨
Very good tutorial, perfect daytime colors, I need to get that lid color, I have Laura Mercier color sticks, but I don't think they are creamy enough for easy blending. That wing is so nice!
I really felt alone in that. I like the LM Caviar Stick but don't love it. It doesn't give me that wet, beautiful finish...it looks shimmery yet a dry shimmery if that makes sense? I'll keep the one I have but won't rebuy. Thanks Diane!
Definitely trying this!! With the years my lined eyes doesn't look the same, to the point I'm not using it any more.... This could work for me. Thank you so much!! Just subscribe today.... Yayyyy
Fantastic!! I'm so happy I found you! I can not wait to try this technique. I'm a new subscriber (found you yday) and can't wait to go through more of your videos. 💋
Loved your down turned eye video, but i love your furniture more. Im in the market and its just what i want, please tell me where i can buy dark simple furniture like this. Just the brand will do.
Hello Stephanie ! It's beautiful and very useful!!! Unfortunately, I have wrinkles around the eyes and on the lids, so this method of "false wing " is difficult for me ☹️ . Love your videos!
I'm going to do a video soon for issues like yours. Sometimes the fold on one of my lids affects this for me as well as it comes down far and affects how I can wing my liners. But there are things we can do to lift the eye that don't require quite as much precision. Hopefully it will help you a bit. Thank you so much!
Love this technique & subscribed to catch the rest of the series. Just for feedback, I personally would have appreciated a shorter video with just the technique itself rather than all of the preamble. Thanks for the idea tho! Excited to try it!
Hi Stephanie! This was a great tutorial! I have similiar eyes and you have taught me so much! I have, and love, the TF Natural Eyes so I can try (!) to replicate this look! I agree with you about curling your lashes. What eye lash curler do you use? I find it hard to get one that fits my eyes and doesn't pinch! Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day. Hugs, xoxo Daphne.💖💖
Hi Daphne, I use Shiseido's because it doesn't dig into the corners of my eyes like the Tarte and Shu ones do. I've been using it for years and years! Thank you! :)

you are a freaking genius. i am 52 with totally hooded eyes and your little reverse wings are what i have waited for all my life.
what i mean by reverse is drawing the line from the bottom lid

I am so thankful for this series! I have the same trouble eyes even with the little creases in the outer corner. Thank you!!
I hope the videos are helpful! :)
I know you love the Armani eye sticks, but have you ever tried Mally's eye shadowsticks? I recently ordered the rosy taupe and love it!
I haven't. Thanks for the rec!
That was a really good demonstration Stephanie....and not just for hooded eyes! Thanks you xxoo
+Beverly Saylor Thank you!
Great video! This is something I've tried to achieve, but not quite the same technique. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. I can't wait to try it like this! I have been merely tightlining my upper lid, but feel like it's not giving me quite enough definition.

What a great trick! I tried this technique immediately after I watched this, and I LOVE the lift it gave my eyes! 👌🏻👍🏻

I’m glad it works for you! 😘
Thanks for this tutorial! I love the idea of drawing the line down instead of up for the faux wing. I’m definitely going to try this!
Wow....you made it look so simple and beautiful 😍
This was a very helpful liner trick-thank you!

I hope so Amy! Thanks!

I am LOVING these videos. Thank you so much!!

Great tutorial. Love the brown eye pencil. Much more daytime appropriate. Very pretty! I really like using shadow as an eyeliner, too.
It really is! Thank you Elaine!
Ok that eyeliner technique is neat!!! I’ve got to try that!!! I’ve got hooded eyes very similar to yours, and I really struggle with eyeliner!
I hope it helps you! Let me know how it works for you! 😘
Thanks Ashlie! :)
Love the colors you chose. I have the same eyes just a little older where I would have to hold the eye to be able to get liner to go on in preferred line.
Super helpful steps! This is the approach I take as well. The power of makeup is amazing! xo
Thank you! Our eyes are very similar, I've needed to know this technique for years! 💕
Thank you so much for explaining your technique so well! I think I can actually do it!
Thanks Debbie!
Very well explained and demonstrated! Thank you, Stephanie

Thank you! I hope you find it helpful! 😘
Thank you!
Stephanie Marie thank you! I will have to pick up the NARS one! You should definitely put it in your next favorites video. 😊
Katie Haugen I was told NARS had the best.
Awesome awesome AWESOME tutorial! I can't wait to try this uplifted/mini wing!!!!! I can just tell this is going to make me love eyeliner for the first time :)
very great explanation and demonstration! recently followed your channel and no regrets awesome
Thank you! 💗
Another amazing tutorial! I always learn so much from you.
Thank you so much! 😘
Just found this video and I love it!!! So good been watching tutorials for years (plus I’m over 30 and been doing my own makeup for 15 years lol) and feel like this is the first time I’m learning how to do pencil liner haha thanks girl! Binging on your videos like crazy today!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Best eyeshadow tutorial I've seen! Thank you!
Thank you Kelly!
Fantastic information. Great video!
Great video Stephanie! You and I have similar eye shape so I will definitely try your method! Thank you for sharing! 😘
Okay, I've only watched 2 of your videos thus far and I'm completely hooked!:) I don't normally subscribe to anybody but I am going to do so with you. You're a complete godsend. Thank you so, so much! I suspect I'll be binge watching all your vids for a spell.
I have all these issues!! Thank you so much. Can't wait to try this look. ❤ 💄 💋
Thank you, your videos are so relaxing to watch. Really helps to see whole process. Think my transition shade needs to be darker. Your brows look amazing btw. ✨
Thanks so much Sarah!
Yayyyy
This is a really great tutorial!
best discription, you have beautiful eyes and natural eye makeup
Thank you! 😘
I can't wait to try this!! I do have deep set, downturned eyes. I hope this works, but will let you know how it works out for me.
+Lisa Noelle Great Lisa!
I really enjoyed this and you taught me a new little trick. Thanx
Great tutorial - Will try to attempt this tomorrow!
Thank you for the tips! I have hooded deepset and slightly downturned eyes, so I am definitely going to try this!!
Fantastic!! I'm so happy I found you! I can not wait to try this technique. I'm a new subscriber (found you yday) and can't wait to go through more of your videos. 💋
+Cheryl Willrich Thanks Cheryl!
I live and learn the longer I'm on TH-cam. That was kind of early on. Thank you Chelsea!
Thank you! :)
I have added this to my daily watch so I can follow it daily. 👍🏼
Thank you Colleen! 💗
