  • I describe the famous spy camera and a film slitter to load any film into it you like. I have added more content. I’m learning to slit film and reload cassettes.

      The Minox is a great camera. I just wish there were more films and processing options!

      There are films available, and labs too. We have a list on our website: www.minox.com/index.php?id=8x11&L=2

    Splendid presentation sir.....
    So many obscure details - previously unknown to me...!!
    I have a 'B' - my brother picked it up in Duseldorf during the late seventies.....
    It has the tripod, flashgun & binocular / monocular adapter - which are all beautiful works of art. ....

      I hope to do more on this. I bought two developing tanks so I could put one together that works. Thanks for your view and kind comment.

      Mike Kennedy I'm trying to draw some courage out if this and buy a 120 film for my box camera, let me know how the pictures turn out. I'm subscribing.

      +Kos Factor I was going to do a video or two on how to load film like 120 into developing tanks to show people how easy it is to learn.

      Good video, I own model B made in 1958. Can you explain how to do a function test? Thanks

    The film width seems odd to us today, but it was chosen originally (1930s) to use unperforated stock for making a now-obsolete size of movie film then fairly common in Europe.

      Yes, I read about that. The movie film was narrow so it was cheaper for people to buy.

    I own four Minox, two B and two C. One of my C has a rattle, someone forced the lanyard off breaking off a piece inside. Otherwise they all seem fine. I have exposed a few rolls but never mailed them for developing. Now I wonder if it's worth trying. I also own the original Minox developing tank. It can be used without a darkroom. I should buy some chemicals and try it. Nothing to lose. Too many projects right now.

    Thanks for the lesson. Very interesting. Where can I find one of these?

    • @m005kennedy
      @m005kennedy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can find them for sale in many places like eBay, camera shops, or even classified. The B is a very rugged camera although after this many years the light meter may not be very accurate but with the wide latitude of film now it makes up for a lot of error.

    Very good and informative video about the B Minox, which, by the way is pronounced "Meenox", not "Mynox".

      The Minox came with a chain we bead on it. The chain was use to get accurate distances when close focusing. I think the closest distance allowed you to photograph an eight by ten inch page. I don’t think I ever saw anyone in the movies use it properly to copy documents. They also make a small tripod just for the purpose of copying.

      at least the show him uses the chain for the focus distance. The famous case of the Rosenbergs , one of the most damaging spies in the US, use a Miniox B to copy documents. They were able to match film that was past to the Russians by match the pattern of scratch on the film directly to the Minox B they had in their possession.

    It's' pronounced Minox just like it is spelled. NOT MYNOX. And the film is 9.5mm wide, not 9mm wide.

    • @m005kennedy
      @m005kennedy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I pronunciation it wrong. I learned it the wrong way.. I mentioned that in one of my other videos. The film has some variations in width. 9.2 mm is the width most people will cut it to who slit there on film. Are you a minox user?

    selenium is correct

    • @m005kennedy
      @m005kennedy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Selenium cells lose their effectiveness over many years. Older cameras may not give accurate exposure because of this.

    • @stephenarling1667
      @stephenarling1667 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@m005kennedy Some selenium cells last longer than others. A factor is the individual cell's quality of sealing against atmospheric degradation.

    • @m005kennedy
      @m005kennedy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stephen Arling I’ve read if the cameras have been in the dark instead of being on display the cells tend to be better.
