I've lived on a dirt road...almost 3 yrs of traveling 1.5 miles to a hard road. Bought a house off a hard road!! But honestly anything can ride on dirt road but not very fast...5-10 miles per hr. I did need my 4-wheel drive at times when it rained too much. Felt like I was driving on snow but we don't get snow down here in southeast GA!! Saying all that. If I could afford an Ekko , I think it would be great for a trip out west. Nice ride!!!
I really enjoy hearing the background on your RV choice. Chris and I are thinking hard about a Revel especially now that they are stacking up at dealers. We have a local dealer 10 miles from us with (2)2022 and (1)2023 that have been sitting for a while. I think the long waits are coming to and end, plus prices are dropping as well. The other RV we are considering is a Leisure Travel Unity. We had (2) Navion corner bed units and they were very nice to travel in except for the sloppy highway ride. The Leisure Travel is the same floor plan only a bit tighter build. The down side is LTV is still a 24 month waiting list. Our first RV was a VW camper van in the 80s and we traveled all over Alaska with a young daughter and 2 large golden retrievers. The Revel is a palace compared to that and now it is just the two of us. Keep posting videos as you two are encouraging Chris and I to get back on the road.
Thanks for the love Ron. Glad we are inspiring you. I might be somewhat cool but I'll never be as cool as Alaska in an old VW van. 👍. Ours is for sale now too. We'd love for it to continue life with you and Chris.

We ordered an Ekko last October. The predicted delivery is December 2022. Is your Ekko AWD? A local electric company in Western Colorado uses Transit AWD vans that resemble an Ekko. The AWD Transit performs well for them on snow covered roads.
Keep the name. You are still trekking in a van style vehicle. I have always thought your name spoke about a “style” of travel…… i.e., quick, adaptable, able to get off-road or off grid while still carrying necessities and or toys of your choosing. That style has been seen with multiple permutations in cars, mini-vans, cargo vans, extended and raised vans, etc. I like your style and was influenced by it to try the Travato. Thus far I like it as my every day and travel partner - it fits me. You have always emphasized the importance of individual likes and needs in choosing the right vehicle. A van style vehicle that allows Miss Maggie to spread out in comfort for an afternoon siesta .. priceless. Love you all. Safe and happy travels.
Keep the name. You know, comfort is everything when that is your home on the road, doesn’t matter what others think if it suits you and makes you happy. I did some tweaking on my class c too and it was brand new. Right away a wheel alignment, better shocks, and finally a Steer Safe system to help with those passing trucks and windy days. Loving it now....big difference. make it your own and happy travels, a four season rig too, that’s awesome. 👍👍
Lift kit will stop the chassis catching but larger tires raise the axles and give clearance, if going on dirt roads check between rear tires for rocks.
No. It just seems to be the sweet spot for getting the most $$ back from our purchase. We kept one RV for almost 5 years and it was only worth about 20% of our purchase price when we sold it. Selling every two years means it is worth maybe 80-90% so it saves in $$. And we've learned our travel style changes so getting an Rv that best fits that style works best for us. Around 4-5 years is when problems start to creep in.
I love the Ekko and I’m very happy for you both for buying the Ekko. Can’t wait to see you camping in it. Now you can take your grandkids with you in it camping. Does Maggie like your Ekko? I saw her laying on the bed. That’s good she has a place to sleep while Owen is driving. As for your name change not sure because to me it looks like the Ekko has a front part of a van but I’m not sure. It does you don’t need to change the name unless you want to. I would miss the van trekking name. It’s hard to come up with a name. I’m sure you’ll be able to come up with something. I’m up to whatever you pick out for a name. Enjoy the Ekko and I’ll see you soon! Safe travels! Happy Tails!
I’m not sure the grandkids would be up for trip in the Ekko, they also have a camper where they have there own room… it’s hard to compete with that. But we will following them around and spend time with them while they are camping. I think we decided to keep our name… all the feedback has suggested that we do not change. Thanks for sharing, it means a lot.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Oh ok good with the grandkids you can go camping with them in their camper and you go in yours. That’s still nice you can be with your family. Glad you are keeping the name. It fits you both. Love the Ekko. I love Winnebago.
Doable but requires some planning and choosing wisely. We've parked in some tight spots but usually have room to back in further or pull forward further.
Ice to be HIP !! Lol !! I think that what makes a person comfortable is the one that you like you will buy it. The looks and the inside for me is something I would like to own one time in my life ! Lot of questions were answered and reason made sense!! Thank you for sharing this with me. As always BS & BK & BC
You made the comment about lowering the center pillow between the two twin beds, and mentioned that you didn't know what you would do with your legs hanging over. When you use the center pillow to make the larger bed, the intent is to turn 90 degrees and have your head and feet to the sides of the Ekko, and not forward/backward. I think it create a queen size space... just turned 90 degrees from the twin beds.
Very nice! Wanted a van, but my husband gave it a hard no due to size. We found a Thor Compass, about the same size as yours on the Transit chassis, but has a slide so he loves that extra room. Enjoy your travels. I know anywhere you go, we can too!
So happy for you both. We have a class B plus and love it. Have not had any problems finding parking, even in some pretty busy towns like Traverse City Michigan. Have a great time with it. Also, stick with Van Trekking lifestyle. Love the name.
Congratulations on your new van. Two weeks ago I purchased a Coachmen Cross Trail with the Transit AWD chassis. I didn't want to wait until next year for an Ekko. I've done some research on lifts a company called Van Compass makes a factory approved 2 inch lift that looks very good.
Glad you are so far impressed w your new purchase. We can always change our minds, right? Our previous Airstream had twin beds and everyone thought we were crazy to buy that floor plan. Our new rig has one bed and although not a game changer IF we change rigs again we both think it will be another twin set up. You have to live w twins to understand the space it provides. And it is just as romantic, maybe even more so. Safe travels.
Congratulations on your new EKKO! I just took possession of my first RV, a Revel, last month and while waiting for its arrival, watched so many of your videos to get ideas of what I would need for life on the road. I sure thank you for all the tips, from emptying the gray water to cooking on a grill! But I can see the attraction of the Ekko for you. The Revel is really nice, but it's pretty tight for more than one person, so it will be great that you'll have more space and a larger shower! Enjoy your trips and keep cranking out those wonderful videos. And please keep your Van Trekking title. Safe travels and Happy Tails.
Good logical summary of your decision process. We went through similar discussions in downsizing from a 25 foot Airstream travel trailer. The EKKO is really nimble. We have had ours up in New England for 8 weeks using it as a daily driver. The only thing that defeats us is parking garages. The AWD is terrific in torrential downpours and also help keep it centered in windy conditions at highway speeds.
No. That was solvable and in fact we had solved it. But having to soon the seats to watch tv and the lack of space eventually pushed us to make the decision. Oddly just yesterday I went out with the goal to remove the front TV and use that as extra storage. But I fired it up first and with it coupled with the sound bar it was a great experience. Crazy huh?
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle I need a TV in my RV because of the rainy days... I think you're going to like the bathroom and that much better than the revel. U-joint is a company that installed lift kits and four-wheel drive in your area and they have a TH-cam channel and I think it's U-joint good luck but the echo does have all-wheel drive I don't know if it is good as four-wheel drive it's a matter of opinion.....
Great video/ info. I switched from MB 4WD to transit, and like you may miss clearance. (Transit xteded tow hitch drags behind in dirt occasionally). I like ford’s remote control feature, to start and run a/c for my dog while I hike. Btw, I get 21 mpg on my 22 ‘ transit high roof fully loaded at 9222 pounds….
I heard someone say that the “EKKO is a $170k bathroom.” To this senior traveler who likes his creature comforts, the EKKO is a winner. I’m sure you’ll love the gear garage. The outdoor kitchen is intriguing and I’ll have fun watching your experiences. I wonder if the Blackstone can replace the stove. It’ll do fine on soft roads just fine. Lifts are helpful. Van Compass makes a couple of lift options for the Transit AWD. Me neither on the waiting!
Hi Owen & Lynn- we used to have a Thor Citation and got it lifted by Agile off-road. The Rip kit with larger wheels and off road tires was about $13k (if memory serves)…..it made a huge improvement to the capability of our Citation.
Please don’t change your name - VTL is your brand and that belongs to you. I really enjoyed all the questions/comments about the EKKO; some great info passed along that will prove helpful to some for sure. Hope all is well. Enjoy your new ride; it’s a beauty.
Our Sweet spot has been 4-6 weeks.😱 Ditched new Lance travel trailer after 4 wks, too small. Ditched Grand Design fifth wheel 6 weeks, too Big but a beautiful rig. So now looking at Drivable. I understand why people trade so much. You can’t do a test drive like you can with a car or know what the tow will be like. Hope this one works out.
Totally agree. You can rent them but that is super expensive. Maybe not as much as 2 or 3 in 2 months though. You win! 😂😂. Whatever you land on for your perfect RV you should name it Goldie Locks. 👍😂😂😂
Love you guys! Keep the name, it’s a van conversation just a little wider. I’m proud of you for following your needs and I think you will be much happier in the long run. We’re waiting eagerly for the Sunday addition. Kiss Maggie for us
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle I’m just thrilled any time we get to have a little visit with y’all. I saw it pop up and said, “Yay...Lynn and Owen!” Y’all have a good shake down and be careful heading back this way! 😊❤️Jane
I think we would really love the bed arrangement in the Ekko. ❤️ I agree that trading with low mileage is good timing. It’s really no one’s business why you traded, but y’all were sweet to share with us. I really like the Ekko and am excited about seeing more about it from you. So much love from SC, Jane ❤️ We have a Winnebago Outlook and we are definitely Winnebago fans. I don’t think you need to change the name of the channel, the Ekko still fits in smaller parking spaces like the van. I agree about staying with a gas vehicle. See you Sunday!
LIFT????? Goodness, we have always needed more clearance on our Transit. Our slinky stinky is accessed in the rear. I have replaced it twice and refuse to do it again. So I zip tied it so if I break a zip, I just replace it. So I am in favor of a lift and very curious how much it cost? Nice name for her too! David and Juanita
I don’t think so. We will probably use it for awhile before we do a lift and do some research before hand. There have been several that we’ve seen done.
Keep the name. Please give us a walk through of the interior on the next video. We have a Travato GL NPE and need just a little more space. And I think we need a little more space.
Thanks for the review on your Ekko👍 Very helpful we have a 37 foot holiday rambler with a Cummins diesel thinking about downsizing which I love to drive the beast it’s like driving a greyhound bus
Check out the Quigley lift kit. You’ll find comments in the FB owners group and an informative video from them to Ekko group at Tampa RV show early this year which we attended. I recommend based on best integration to existing suspension geometry. We’re gonnabees on order but already done the research into it. 🙂
So excited for y'all. Your logic is right on the money as far as when to trade. Working on a trip to Maine for Sherman the Roadtrek, looking for cooler temperatures the end of September. Come go with us. Happy tails and safe travels.
Glad you were able to get the eighth van of your dreams! Dreams change, so the vans should too! The name change idea is for you to decide, not us... what will make YOU happy? We're happy with our Transit, but of course, ours is Class B, and the EKKO is Class C size, so I guess time will tell if the drive is good for all y'all. I looked at the EKKO specs, and it is 23' long. Ours is 22', so not a huge difference there. I'm assuming parking is not too troublesome. Your height is quite a bit more than ours though. If you decide on a lift, that would make you even higher, so watch out for high winds! Be seeing you!
Great video and agree with many of the other commenters, keep your name. I have really enjoyed a lot of great content on your channel after I found it recent while researching Travatos. I was wondering, would you ever consider doing a video on the process of buying/selling as private parties? I would be especially interested on the right steps to complete the transaction with financial security. Also, what things do you need to think about when buying out of state. Thanks in advance for you consideration and my best to you both.
Your decision sell the Revel are the reasons why we have not transitioned from our Winnebago Trend t a Van. Love the idea of have a van but, again, given the reasons you mentioned we remain faithful to our Trend. We are considering upgrading to a Flying Cloud Air Stream or a Winnebago Navion/View. Do you have any thoughts on the Winnebago Navion/View? You both are a blessing, your obvious love for each other is an example we want to follow. I hope to meet you both some day. May God Bless you both ALWAYS!!! Stay Humble and Kind!!!
Nah… you’re brand is so recognizable as VAN TREKKING Lifestyle. Your previous name change made sense (yes, we’ve been watching that long). But to change again doesn’t seem needed. And hey, you still have a van front end! We are looking forward to this new chapter in your journey. Much love from Randy & Sharon. 🚐
The channel name is your brand name. I think you should keep it. It’s still a van hybrid, anyway. I like the Ocha! (If I ever get my Pocket, I’ve already named him. It will be Mitty. Or perhaps Walter. Because “Pocket-a-pocket-a-pocket-a“)
So now you're much closer to an actual class B motorhome? I had one..liked it..but now for me the large truck camper makes sense but no room You're going to love this new ride I think
It occurs to me that if you put your deposit in now, in two or three years George will be fixing to get ready to build your next van. Right on schedule. It's not patience, Owen; it's planning. Suggestion for new segment: Ekkolocation! Or is that too batty?
Hey Chip! Nope ordering now for a delivery 3 years from now won’t work… because we don’t have a clue how we’ll want to be traveling in 3 years. 😂 I guess we could guess… but I bet we’d be wrong. Love the name suggestion.
I experienced the same things you identified with the Revel. Windy days and the aggressive safety features made it not very fun sometimes. We’re still waiting and watching to see what we want to do next and when.
Lol don’t say Ocha. Say Ocho 8. I was what did he say. Lol. Keep same of of your TH-cam. Many blessings and adventures. I’m Puertorican and heard something funny when you said the name.

Wow I really wanted this RV so bad and didn't realize that it had so many recalls!
Good move! The Revel is just too small IMHO and the Ekko shower is awesome
Waiting for a tour
Please don’t change your name - VTL is your brand and that belongs to you. I really enjoyed all the questions/comments about the EKKO; some great info passed along that will prove helpful to some for sure. Hope all is well. Enjoy your new ride; it’s a beauty.
Love watching you guys and your adventures! Congratulations on your new RV
FreedomVango in Florida does lifts for Ekko
James over at the FITRV did the suspension mods and levelers.
Im so happy you’re trying out the EKKO. I love the floor plan. Plus, you’ll have The Fit RV channel to check out their clever mods. Congrats!
Our Sweet spot has been 4-6 weeks.😱 Ditched new Lance travel trailer after 4 wks, too small. Ditched Grand Design fifth wheel 6 weeks, too Big but a
beautiful rig.
Yeah Goldielocks tells the story well, lol.
Congratulations on your new ride
Love you guys! Keep the name, it’s a van conversation just a little wider. I’m proud of you for following your needs and I think you will be much happier in the long run. We’re waiting eagerly for the Sunday addition. Kiss Maggie for us
Happy for your choice!
Yay!! So happy to see you! ❤️❤️❤️Watching now...Jane in SC
You go girl!!! The winner of the fastest click on this video! ❤️❤️❤️
Is yours an AWD ? I was on winnebago's site checking out the Ekko and it says it is AWD.
It is AWD. Thanks for watching.
My camper is named Rosinante after Don Quixote horse...the book John Steinbeck Travels with Charlie...
Congratulations to you both on your new adventure.
Would a lift on the Ekko not make it top-heavy?
Can’t wait to see your adventures in your new home! Congratulations on your new rig!
Can it pull the trailer too.
Yes, it can pull a trailer.
Original name unless of course Happy Tails
Great video and agree with many of the other commenters, keep your name. I have really enjoyed a lot of great content on your channel after I found it recent while researching Travatos.
I was wondering, would you ever consider doing a video on the process of buying/selling as private parties? I would be especially interested on the right steps to complete the transaction with financial security. Also, what things do you need to think about when buying out of state.
Thanks in advance for you consideration and my best to you both.
Keep the name….😊
I had one..liked it..but now for me the large truck camper makes sense but no room
You're going to love this new ride I think
Keep the name! Have fun with the Echo
This is going to be a great rig for you all! I still like the Van Trekking name, but maybe EKKO Trekking.
The Ecko is just a van with a lot of junk in the trunk so I say keep the channel name.
Ocho,Ocho. It is an ekko right?
Yes, it is an Ekko. Owen calls it Ocho because it’s our 8th RV. First time we’ve named our rv.
curious on why you miss 4wd when the ekko has AWD. im confused here. tia..safe travels
Congrats great rig I am happy for you guys.what size gas tank? Give maggi a pet for me.
Call the RV the Treko
Keep the original name so you don’t lose anybody. Ekko is built on a van chassis
Lol don’t say Ocha. Say Ocho 8. I was what did he say. Lol. Keep same of of your TH-cam. Many blessings and adventures. I’m Puertorican and heard something funny when you said the name.
Keep the name. Happy tails!
