These poor devs are probably going through some intense crunch to meet the launch deadline. Remastering TLR and Chronicles in a year, sure, but AoD on top of that? I'm totally thrilled by the news, but unless they've been silently working on this for a long time already, a 14 February launch seems extraordinarily ambitious.
@@oasisbeyond If Aspyr are touching AoD, surely they are also implementing bug fixes, not just doing a simple remaster. And we all know how many bug fixes AoD needs...
To be honest I was also quite sure this was comming (it would have been a mistake not to do it) but I didn’t expect it this early. I’m curious about the result as, especially TLR and TRC, suffer quite a bit on the narrative and level design overall, something that a Remaster isn’t always fully capable of solving, it’s more a job for a Remake instead. AoD… I have no words. A game-breaking crash stopped me at the Strahov and couldn’t get forward. I’m hoping for a smooth game but also curious on how this is going to feel since AoD is, presumably, only a part of a trilogy that never got made. Will they add cut content? Hard to say for me as by doing so, they would have to craft Path of the Black alchemist and the third one. Great for all of us TBH. But clearly a good chance for me to play it properly once and for all.
So so so excited! I really hope they put a lot of attention on this. Especially tr6, some love would do this game wonders. Cut content would be a dream
Si, super emocionado y esperando que ''arreglen'' AOD aunque quizás lo dejen como lo conocimos y solo lo remastericen pero estaría genial un arreglo o un adicional de contenido. Saludos.
TR4 was my first full Tomb Raider game, so it has a special place in my heart. As a huge fan of TR I-III Remastered, I was hoping the same team would be able to do the other three games, and it's finally happening! :D
Worried about AOD. Will they fix everything? Are they adding cut content? So many questions. But if there are passionate people behind this project like the previous collection, I have no doubts that they know what we want.
Isn't it brilliant to have all these beautiful games finally on the big machines. A bit of spit and polish and they look beautiful. Old school for me everyday. Can't wait. Hope you have enjoyed the first 3 games. Steve 👍
I definitely think that they were only going to do 4 and 5 but because of the outcry from the fans, they’ve included 6 so they’re definitely in the early phases of remastering that game so they’re now just going to throw most of their resources at 6 before launch. Even the paintings in the Louvre look pretty shocking so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they can pull out the bag. We’ve still got 4 months and it’s not like AOD is a super long game so they have time The only other thing I’m really hoping they’re able to do is get rid of the loading screens between levels in 4 and 6. It’s not a massive deal breaker for me but from an immersion standpoint it would be awesome. Also, on my first time playing those games, the loading screens would really confuse me and I would get lost so easily too so for newcomers it could be a deal breaker. But I’m super excited I cannot lie
I'm not worried about her AoD appearance, the image has a bit of a grey hue due to the brightness being turned up and in the original game she has a plastic-like gloss which they might be trying to remove, in other scenes like at 1:55 when she's turning the valve she looks totally fine but we'll have to wait and see more gameplay to judge properly. It's insane that 5 and AoD are being remastered what a gift, but i'm curious what they can pull off with only a year while still patching the first collection, that doesn't seem like enough time to give AoD the treatment it requires but we know from achievements they are making some tweaks and changes to it, so we'll see.
I had the same thought about AoD Lara. But kinda assumed it was just a bad shot of some sorts. The promo image looks better. It looks like the same model but it lacks some texture contrast or something. It's a bit underdefined. But we'll see. I am not worried. Aspyr has shown a lot of love and understanding of these games. If anything is off, I'm sure they'll fix it.
I'd be happy with them making the AoD controls exactly like tank controls from the previous games. PS2 AoD was kind of "Modern" controls anyway, so they'll probably just reuse everything they learnt making modern for the first 5. The one thing they NEED to do though is remove that damn slow few slow steps she takes whenever you start moving 😩🤣
i am VERY excited about the AOD remaster because i was not expecting them to even touch this game.. maybe they can also restore the cut content, that would be soooo nice :')
I was caught soo off guard with this announcement. I do hope that the AoD model gets slightly polished similar to the box art, as you said. What I really hope they do is that they work together with reborninshadows for example. There are soo many talented modders out there. When I uploaded my AoD walkthrough I used not only his dual pistol pickup mod but many more and it made AoD really enjoyable so I hope they'll improve the game like these talented modders did. Cannot wait for it! And what a question, OF COURSE I'll get the remasters
Preordered right after the announcement! I wouldn't be worried about the trailer much, I assume it's like with 1-3 and we're seeing far from the finished version. Haha but yes, AoD is included! I was worried a bit we'd only get 4 and 5 if more remasters happened, but we're really getting all three! You're from Portugal and you haven't see the anime yet? There's Portugal mentioned in a certain context, might be interesting for you :D
The rendering in AOD is concerning, there's no shadows/reflections/atmospheric lighting.. and it's quite late now only 4 months away to release that I doubt it will change but here's to hoping
@@PeterVanDerPan same!!! From all the classics, Chronicles and AOD are the ones I played the least, so I can’t wait to play them and experiencing them as it was my first time
I completely agree that TR AoD would need a Remake rather than a Remaster, to feel like a fully finished game, and Lara's in-game model makes me a bit concerned. However, if all they do is improve the controls via Modern control setting toggle for the game, I'll be quite happy to play it. What I'm certain of however, is that the Charmander on your sofa is incredibly excited!
AOD was in a rush to get to the shelves due to Angelina's Jolies, Tomb Raider movie was coming out and the devs wanted it make it close to the movies release date. I feel that in retrospect, they should have taken their time with it and paid more attention to the controls and fixed the glitches. I played AOD before on pc and didnt like it too much so i quit playing it. I am willing to give it a second chance with the remastered version.
Already preordered of course... I simply had to/could not do anything else really😅 I agree with you on the Aod Lara model, that one has to be perfect (since the original model pretty much was for me), but I'm sure Aspyr will (ultimately) deliver on that (as well as in terms of all our other concerns).
I’m gonna finally play and complete AOD however without the grid system there is no tomb raider. Being able to access the TRLE fan made levels on the ps5 is the dream now.
I just hope that the released games don't require 4 patches being rolled out over the next year... I'd rather have them release a complete game later on than get an unfinished product. I regret putting in so many hours in 1-3 before the patches. They made a HUGE difference and I wish mi first experience was that. I want to experience the games at the same time as everyone else and be involved in the discussion and consumption of 4-6 within our community so I don't want to hold off while everyone else is already playing.
Now imagine they add a DLC like a “Tomb Raider Angel Of Darkness Gold” w| 3 additional levels to complete the story. She searches for Curtis, we get a little more of his backstory and it ends w| her name being cleared in Von Croy’s murder.
I think AOD Lara will look closer to the promotion picture. But for some reason, they're showing her model in a room where the lighting is washing her out. Hopefully, they'll fix that issue where she'll look crisper. As for how I feel about remastering the AOD, I think it could be done. There's nothing wrong with the AOD in terms of story or level layout. From my understanding of how they remastered the previous games, they basically took the level layouts and transferred them to current gaming programs. Then they added the animations and gameplay elements so that it behaves the same as the original. To make a long explanation short, this method restarts the building process from scratch. So none of the old glitches should survive except for animation glitches, which can easily be fixed. (I think. I'm not a program expert. And mind you, current gaming programs are far more easier to use and fix than the old ones.) I have faith that Aspyr knows what they're doing to restore and vindicate the AOD.
I share your doubts about the OG-cut TRAOD content being added now. The whole game would need a lot of work to be finished - and besides adding the missing pieces which have been cut - e.g. portions of the story, a few extra locations (Germany comes to mind), Kurtis' abilities, etc.. - there's also tons of issues with existing gameplay and mechanics. A few examples: 1. DIALOGUES. These should be re-vamped, so that each choice would really make a difference in path to take afterwards. This way the game could be replayed a few times, as each time those player's responses would lay a different path a/o set of levels to go through. It would vastly increase the replayability of the whole game. 2. BODY UPGRADES. These shoud be only semi-arbitrary to get - and not getting some could also limit the paths the player could take through the level a/o progress through the game. The whole-game-replayability factor comes to play again here. 3. STEALTH vs GUNG-HO. The choice of either should make a real difference, in terms of AI reponses, as well as in the available paths to finish the level a/o progress in the game. And again, this game-replayability keyphrase comes to mind. Now these three items alone would require the whole game logic to be reworked very heavily. And I sense it would require a lot of new stuff to be added to the already existing game itinerary. So repeating myself, TRAOD needs to be properly finished, and not remastered. I think I'd reather welcome a re-make or a re-imagining ot this game, than a release with just graphics and controls updates, the latter of which is already out in multiple forms and each one I tried worked well. I fear we are going to get a more or less the OG game, just with some content enabled - that, which was not available to the players on its 2003 release, like the the training area at the very start. If so, it is not going to be enough and shall stand quite weak, compared to the five preceding games. Frankly, it would feel like a missed opportunity to really show what this game could and should have been.
Thank God there is someone smart on the internet!! You are the first one who thinks aod Lara looks realy bad, how other people dont see it, it s beyond me!
@@BartolisHideoutGaming I realy hope you are right, but graphics from aod in this remaster looks the same as vanila game no shadows, no improved lighting, camera is not moving etc... It just looks stupidly bad, and they for a reason showed aod the least in this trailer and on steam pictures there is only 1 picture from aod gameplay and it is bad. Aod engine is hard to work on but i hope this is just early development.
Funny I just bought "I-III trilogy" and playing it right now. Also I don't know why but I'm palying those with OG graphics and tank controls and having a lot of fun with that. I guess it's like a new challenge for me in life, to beat those games I couldn't as a child.
i thought if they were going to do another one it would be 4 and 5, i honestly didnt think they would at all though because TR4 and 5 didnt sell very well back in the day but fucking hell, the next three? thats brave, especially in this short space of time.
Lara Croft in AOD was totally different when that game came out. Never felt like it belonged with the previous games at all. So a remaster of AOD doesn't give much to hope for. The other ones though, will be great to revisit 😀
I think Lara's model in AOD looks ok-ish, but the colors are completely off. She's shining so much she looks sweaty, like she's supposed to be in a safari and not in a museum. Way too glossy, her clothes too, they're supposed to be darker. If they can get the skin texture look more like skin like in the 1-3 remastered I think it'll be fine. The part where she's turning the vent is already better, but it's not that much different from the original. A fan made a project of AOD Lara looking like if she got the same treatment as Silent Hill 2 remake and it was fantastic, so much detail in her face and hair and clothes, hope AOD will not just be "AOD HD", that she'll actually look a lot better like the 1-3 remastered did.
I remember when I was a kid I pre-ordered AOD and the day I finally got it, it didn't work and was recalled and delayed. Then when it released again it was just a chore to play and no fun at all so i dropped it after two weeks and never played it again. I'd always hoped someone would get a team together to make a fixed version. Never expected an official remaster. I hope I can finally have fun with this game I wanted to love so long ago.
3:50 Yeah, I agree. I thought I was the only one. I think that Angel of Darkness would do better as a remake rather than a remaster, especially since the game was so rushed, unfinished, and buggy. I’m still a huge fan of the game and im excited as well. I just hope they fix the graphics a little more because to be honest it looks exactly the same to me.
All they need to do with the remaster of Angel is give players the choice of using a controller if they have one. Maybe upgrade the graphics if they must but the original looked really good.

I’m optimistic the trailer showed an early build and AoD will look even better on release day (and after patches). TR12 could be a continuation of AoD after all, it’d make sense 😅 but I don’t believe it will be
@@lionheart6918 let’s see what they have in store for us! 👏
This is my dream
These poor devs are probably going through some intense crunch to meet the launch deadline. Remastering TLR and Chronicles in a year, sure, but AoD on top of that? I'm totally thrilled by the news, but unless they've been silently working on this for a long time already, a 14 February launch seems extraordinarily ambitious.
Remastering isn't that hard.
@@oasisbeyond You say that, but I-III remastered released in a rather unfinished state, so clearly it's not that easy to do in limited time frames.
@@oasisbeyond If Aspyr are touching AoD, surely they are also implementing bug fixes, not just doing a simple remaster. And we all know how many bug fixes AoD needs...
@@oasisbeyond maybe not but fixing will be, AOD needs a major overhaul.
They'll have a spiritual bond with the Core devs, then, who were similarly exhausted from year-after-year releases. :P
The fire effects look absolutely amazing in the last revelation
@@Rex113-bz5yj it does for sure! 🔥
Angel Of Darkness is the one i'm most interested in.
Not just Lara Croft's model but also the gameplay away from the stronger and weaker mechanic..
They remastered AOD?! This was my very first Tomb Raider game 😍😍😍😍
@@GartenchaosGemuesegarten let’s go!! Soon you’ll be able to play it “properly” again 🤩
So so so excited! I really hope they put a lot of attention on this. Especially tr6, some love would do this game wonders. Cut content would be a dream
i really hope they release the engine as well, just like Chronicles did back in the day.
So Feb 14. 2026 Tomb Raider VII - IX Remastered and i will die happy!
@@unkommentiertesgameplay haha for sure
Si, super emocionado y esperando que ''arreglen'' AOD aunque quizás lo dejen como lo conocimos y solo lo remastericen pero estaría genial un arreglo o un adicional de contenido. Saludos.
the modern controls so far in the 1-3 remasters are going to be just fine for AOD. No worries there.
TR4 was my first full Tomb Raider game, so it has a special place in my heart. As a huge fan of TR I-III Remastered, I was hoping the same team would be able to do the other three games, and it's finally happening! :D
Yes! I’m super happy 😃
As long as the main menu cut scenes for TR4 & TR5 are playable and the bugs in TR5 & TR6 are fixed, I'll be happy!
@@directedbyxanderjones8329 I would be too! 🤫
I don't worry about Lara's look in AoD. There were some things off in the very first trailer for the first trilogy too.
Worried about AOD. Will they fix everything? Are they adding cut content? So many questions. But if there are passionate people behind this project like the previous collection, I have no doubts that they know what we want.
I cant wait omg
We’ve still got 4 months and it’s not like AOD is a super long game so they have time
The only other thing I’m really hoping they’re able to do is get rid of the loading screens between levels in 4 and 6.
If they didnt fix aod, they would have just say its 4-5 remastered. I think aspyre know what they're doing
@@schedartv let’s hope so… 🤞
i am VERY excited about the AOD remaster because i was not expecting them to even touch this game.. maybe they can also restore the cut content, that would be soooo nice :')
rope swinging flashbacks start
i was hoping for an aod remake but i'll GLADLY take a remaster too!!
Awesome! Fantastic! AOD movement looks fluid and with remastered graphics etc it will be a joy to play. Thank you Bartolis for this news.👍🥂
You’re welcome, thanks for watching 🙏
Yes im flipping excited
I’m glad you did a video on this. ❤ I’m still waiting for Seth to do a video on this too
The rendering in AOD is concerning, there's no shadows/reflections/atmospheric lighting.. and it's quite late now only 4 months away to release that I doubt it will change but here's to hoping
Buzzing! Can’t wait to play them
@@PeterVanDerPan same!!! From all the classics, Chronicles and AOD are the ones I played the least, so I can’t wait to play them and experiencing them as it was my first time
@@BartolisHideoutGaming not that I recently re-played them a few times in a row 🤣
@@zelgadis115 hahaha the charmander behind me is always excited 😝
Is Dallas Dickenson related to Bruce Dickenson of Iron Maiden?
@@MdB92 I believe they will too! 🙏 awesome news for all of us!
Is this for real ??? i really hop they can pull off an AOD remaster!!!! Ive long for this to be remastered.
2:55 Game comes out in 4 months!
Feb 14th is Lara's birthday 🥰
Now imagine they add a DLC like a “Tomb Raider Angel Of Darkness Gold” w| 3 additional levels to complete the story. She searches for Curtis, we get a little more of his backstory and it ends w| her name being cleared in Von Croy’s murder.
@@Whatneptunesay that would be “GOLD” 😁
I agree with you, I expected more about AoD, it has so much potential! Hope they'll fix it in the final version! 🖤
2:40 agree with you
I think AOD Lara will look closer to the promotion picture.
A few examples:
"I hope Crystal Dynamics releases a new classic game like Legend."
I’m so excited I love it and she looks amazing
I'm excited for TR4 and 5 more than angle of darkness

Thank God there is someone smart on the internet!! You are the first one who thinks aod Lara looks realy bad, how other people dont see it, it s beyond me!
@@prc7148 yeah she doesn’t look great but let’s hope they can fix it. Still early days
Yeah, I just heard about this!
i thought if they were going to do another one it would be 4 and 5, i honestly didnt think they would at all though because TR4 and 5 didnt sell very well back in the day but fucking hell, the next three? thats brave, especially in this short space of time.
OMG NICE HAIRR also I can't believe AOD will be remastered after all 😍
I hope we can play laras dual pistols in angel of darkness
Lara Croft in AOD was totally different when that game came out. Never felt like it belonged with the previous games at all. So a remaster of AOD doesn't give much to hope for. The other ones though, will be great to revisit 😀
It is the initial version that they used in the video that u unlock in tomb raider 5

3D VR MOD PLEASE, this is what People want in Year 2025
I mean, I wouldn’t mind if VR Mode was added to the main game but for me, definitely not a full TR VR game. 😅 but that’s me
we can finally have a "Definitive" version of AoD
AOD looks like next gen in Cronicles
@@NeroBaelside13 me neither! I thought if we were going to get this game it would be as a remake, not a remaster. But I’m happy with it anyway 😁
Thank you for telling the truth about AOD Lara's remastered model...WTF have they done with Lara's face??? They BETTER fix it before the release!!
I am very excited for AOD.
All they need to do with the remaster of Angel is give players the choice of using a controller if they have one. Maybe upgrade the graphics if they must but the original looked really good.
Really great news, they did a good job of the first 3, wasnt as big a fan of these ones (4 is the only one i havent finished) but looking forward to revisiting them and interesting to see if they change anything on AoD.
TR4 is an amazing game! One of the hardest but for sure the better story in the classic games!
I only want AOD!!! I’ve been playing the original version for years, I need this remaster. IMAGINE AOD WITH NO BUGS 😭😭
Now all i want is Heavy Metal FAKK 2 Remaster or a Remake, only if some studio could aquire the rights from Ritual Games.
