    Because of where I’m at after years of collecting and flipping, I have to go with 40mm. I’ve grown to appreciate the more traditional sizes these days.

      I’m in the same boat. I’ve owned a 42mm and while I could pull it off, I prefer my 40mm Bico more. The taper on the bracelet does make both sizes quite manageable.

    I own the 40mm version and it wears like a 42mm. The huge dial and narrow bezel make it the largest wearing 40mm watch I’ve ever worn. The lugs don’t turn down much, which further emphasizes the presence on the wrist. If you’re torn between these two sizes, I suggest the 40mm.

      Wish I had taken your advice.. I purchased the 42mm blind.. it wears huge

    Size definitely matters lol (that's what she said) I reviewed the 42mm and for my just under 7 inch wrist it was really big in my opinion. The lug tip- to- lug tip killed it for me. I think the 40mm is ideal and the perfect size in my opinion.

    The 40 was my first luxury watch ever. Great quality for the price, enjoyed it. I've since gone to Tudor and Omega, the 65 was a good gateway, looked neat on the wrist too

      Do you have the speedmaster? The 42mm moonwatch wears great on my wrist and I'm wondering if I should go with the 40 diver 65 or 42. Let me know what your experience been like

    I have the 42 and it wears fine on my 6.75 inch wrist although with its 50 mm lug to lug its on the limit. The oyster style bracelet on these are superb by the way plus I would add that its one of those watches that looks beautiful but at the same time more than happy to wear as a beater if that makes sense!

    • @georgemedina3712
      @georgemedina3712 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That makes sense ..i just went on vacation to Orlando and took 2 of my watches ..the Breitling avenger skyland and the oris 65 42mm ..i rocked the oris the entire trip perfect for Disney too ... so satisfying to just look at on the wrist .. I'm definitely glad i went with the 42 over the 40.. love it

  • @lucas_bock

    I like the 40 better simply because of how the date window looks. It's also nice to have a slightly smaller watch to pair with some of my larger diver's watches to give a good contrast in weight and aesthetics.

    The dial looks more recessed on the 42 for some reason which I really like. Beautiful watches. Way beyond my budget sadly 😢

    For some reason I prefer the smaller size on these vintage style divers even though I have a 7.5 inch wrist. Might just be more nostalgic. Either way, very cool watches and an awesome side by side comparison!

    I have the 40 mm and love it! I like the date at 6 o’clock better than 3. I also have a six and a half inch wrist. The colors are stunning when sun light hits it.

  • @milaweitz
    @milaweitz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Cool watch for sure!
    I have 7” wrist and as my all divers (Seiko mainly) are between 42-45mm totally fine. This Oris diver 65 is usually suggested take 40 in this range. Most likely it is because 40 has lug to lug sweet 48mm.
    I am balancing between 40-42.
    I wear field watch between 39-41 as they don’t have rotating bezel.

      I love a 36” but in a dive watch I feel the thick case seems a bit out of proportion with such a small dial

  • @blurayauthority

    Odd this video came up today (as in just made today). I just purchased an Oris 42 (silver dial) and am looking for another one. They have more options in the 40mm but I like my watches larger on my 7.5” wrist. Doesn’t seem to be a lot of difference between the two and the lugs appear longer than those of my CW 65’s. At any rate, good video - it helped me.

  • @webe1309
    @webe1309 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the comparison. It’s discouraging to see manufacturers use odd size lug widths - there just aren’t any long straps available for us larger -wristed guys. It takes the watch out of contention for a possible purchase.

    Really useful comparison, thanks.
    I’ve been torn between the two sizes of the Diver 65 and a 41mm ProPilot for a while and won’t have the option to try them on until the summer so this is really helpful to see the 40mm and 42mm together.

  • @clayjones1933
    @clayjones1933 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The widest part of the watch excluding the crown is the bezel and it is 42mm, why would you say it’s really not a 42? When you look down at the watch your gauging the width of the watch off the bezel because it’s the widest, the case sides are hid under it so the case measurements are not necessary.

    For the price these watches should use a COSC or at least top grade movement. You can get Glycine divers with the same movement for a fraction of the price.

    A stainless steel bezel insert would elevate this watch to new heights! The black bezel insert plus the dark dial make it kinda boring.

    36mm to 40mm, however 38mm is the sweet spot.
