Just like everything else that's firearms and ammo related, This is the New Normal. People will continue to pay this much for ammo and, with ammo manufacturing leaving the US mainland, it will continue to go up.
Hello Fellow Patriots and Friends: Thank you Andre for this ammo update video. Nothing has changed up here in the NE except gone higher. All you can do is sit on your inventory & pray you never have the need to use it. 🙏. Thank you again my brother, TMP from N.J. 😢😢
As a reloader, I never used to make 9MM rounds, 'cause they could be bought for $10 to $12 a box. Winchester white box was usually $10. I have an empty box of small pistol primers priced at $14.
You're not talking about capitalism. That's the "free market" system. You don't have to pay these prices if you don't want to as no one is forcing you to shop here.
But a lot of the ammo price hike comes from the 2021 ban on cheap Russian steel cased ammo. They didn't just ban tulammo, they banned over a dozen of the cheap brands you used to see everywhere, Tulammo, Barnaul, Red Army Standard, Wolf, Monarch, Silver Bear, Brown Bear, Golden Tiger, WPA, all sorts of different cheap surplus bulk brands, all the neat cheap spam cans, not just 7.62x39 but also all these brands made dirt cheap 9mm, 380, 308, 45 auto, all the common pistol cartridges. That ban f*cked the entire sport of range shooting.
I don’t think you understand economics if you think that. The us government printed 60% of its currency in 4 years your dollar is being devalued. You can all stop buying ammo right and now the prices would stay the same. Your money is worth less it’s not high prices
Ammo prices are only a few percentage points over inflation in general. In the early 80's I used to sell guns and ammo (in NY of all places) and for example 50rds of 22LR was 59 cents, a box of 500 was $4.98. Back then gas was .75/gal , a new car 4k a new house 55k ect. These Ammo prices are likely the new price, if they go down it won't be much and not for long.
If you need it buy it when you see it! Especially now that it is plentiful. Prices are high and not going to get any cheaper so buy ammo not gold! It wasn’t that long ago that people were paying over $100 for a 500 round brick of 22 LR and that’s happened a few times over the last 20 years.
Quite a surprise this week. I had ordered a box of .38 wadcutters at a local gun shop ( 148 gr ) . A few days later, when I picked them up, there was a pleasant surprise. The price had dropped, and the shop refunded seven dollers plus. They still weren't cheap, 65 cents per round, but at least they were available. Several other outlets said wadcutters had become a rarity.
Seems high in Florida. Here in North Carolina, Academy Sports: $ 9.99 box of 50, Monarch 9mm Luger FMJ 115 GR Steel Case (CBC) $49.99 box of 250, Monarch 9mm Luger FMJ 115 GR Steel Case $12.00 box of 50, Monarch 9mm Luger FMJ 115 GR Brass Case (CBC) $14.99 box of 50, Blazer 9mm Luger FMJ 115 GR Brass Case $29.99 box of 100, Winchester 9mm Luger FMJ 115 GR Brass Case, white box $11.99 box of 20, Winchester USA 5.56x45mm NATO 62-Grain M855 green tip $52.99 box of 100, Monarch .223 Remington 55-Grain We have an Outdoor LTD warehouse/store near me. Less expensive than Academy.
prob is i fear the prices won't go back down to what it was pre covid. but i sure hope it does--pre c i bought a box of 50 9 for 7$box. 1000rounds for 100$$ went to range w/friends all the time. miss it
This makes me so happy to be a reloader. Only have to buy .22lr. The price of ammo he where I live is higher than in the US. $325 for 500 cheap .223 rem. 500 cheap .308 $500.
Bass Pro Shop, pre-CCP Virus, Herter's (Made by Winchester.), 9mm, 500-round box, $78.00 after 5% military discount and sale tax. I bought 5,000 rounds. Down to my last 500-rounds.
Yes sir. I did the same thing when Walmart was putting their 9mm ammo on clearance when they stopped selling it. Bought several thousand of them for dirt cheap
Isn’t it curious how we always focus on how much ammo we have… how the dollars don’t make sense… higher … go ahead and put a price in freedom. We in America need to realize how much our freedom has given us because there are those even in our country and elsewhere who’s whole purpose is to take as much from us as they can …not stopping at our lives. So how much credence do you have and how little are you doing to protect it
One needs to shop around at places they don't normally visit. On a 4th of July sale (before shipping) I got 41 mag 248 gr hardcast for under 60 cents, 210 gr XTP for under $1, 380 102 gr, as well as 90 XTP for 38 cents. And many more deals.. granted some things are average, but some were great deals.
In 2019, I got a sale email from MidwayUSA twice a week. Yep, Midway. I read every one because there was ALWAYS something I couldn't pass up. I purchased 9mm for $7 and .45 Fiocchi for $12. These were not everyday prices, you just needed to read the emails to find the bargains. Of course, those days are gone forever but, there are still relative bargains to be had by careful shopping.
The only way they'll be gone is if people keep paying stupid prices. Raw material prices aren't up that much, and I don't know about you, but I didn't get a 200% raise in the last couple of years, I'm sure their employees didn't either. They are just getting what they can, while they can. Ammo was sky high multiple times in the past, and it always came back down once people stopped snatching it up.
380 prices are garbage. It’s inflation because of the Covid excuses. The 9 mm prices are damn near double what they were pre-Covid. I remember getting Winchester white box for 799 for 50 count. Price is averaging $.16-$.20 a round. That’s stupid. I picked up a box of 1000 primers for three cents of primer. I’m trying to find powder is a pain in the butt
Ammo prices are of course higher than 3-5 years ago. So is bread, eggs, and gas. There is no discussion of the rate of inflation and loss of dollar purchasing power. Factor in the rate of inflation over the past 3-5 years (8% 10% per year, or?) if you are discussing ammo prices. Regardless of cost there is plenty of ammo on shelves because persons are broke. A survey done a few months ago revealed most persons couldn't come up with $400. the next morning for an emergency. Ammo is an excellent buy right now IF you have money. With the inflation rate rising and wars looming I would wager ammo prices today will be seen in the future as a bargain.
I pay almost 70 bucks for a box of Winchester Super X .45 Colt 250 grain cowboy loads at Bass Pro and since I only own one firearm which is an old cowboy revolver this is the only ammo I buy but I don’t do much target practice because my ammo is so expensive
Big box prices are a little absurd. I went by Academy recently to check if they had any 357 Sig. They wanted $65 for a 50 count fmj... $1.30 per round, ridiculous. I laughed and walked out. I'll stick with online purchases.
Its an election year so any month now those prices are going to shoot up. Gotta adjust for inflation. We won't see $9.99 9mm ammo again in my area because of inflation and demand. I just picked up 62 gr green tip for 51 cents a round and 28 cents a round 124 gr 9MM and 6 cents a round for .22LR. I just won't see those prices again until Trump hopefully gets in office.
Try that in an Academy! My sore might have 4 bottles total at any one time, no shot, only metallic primers, very little brass. Bass locally has none of the above.
That’s cheap for 9mm lol. Come on man it was a dollar a round during Covid the pre 2020 prices are never coming back. With the amount of money the fed printed into the system the dollar is being devalued at alarming rates. Prices aren’t high your money is just worth less.
You're seriously going to blame people who stocked up on ammo when they looked out their window 2020 and saw the potential for societal collapse and systems failure knocking on their door? Get bent and cry some more.
The ammo may be back but the prices are not. Stop paying these prices.
If you don’t like the price today, your going to hate it tomorrow.
Words of wisdom
Ammo prices are still sky high.
9mm: was 16.5cpr > now: 25cpr (best deal is usually 21.5)
5.56: was 26.5cpr > now 46cpr (best deal is usually 42cpr)

Pre shit storm , 9mm was about .13 cents and 5.56 was approximately .24 per. This is based on WA shops.
👍
Maybe for Steel 9mm and expensive reloads/reman for 5.56
The new “Normal” is On Line… shopping for ammo on line is way cheaper for the most part…. Them gunshops can be ridiculous sometimes.
9mm is ridiculous. .30 a round. Good grief that's outrageous..
💯
I paid 24¢ per round online
I just picked up a couple of thousand rds at about .22 per. You are shopping in the wrong place. Buying retail is bullshit.

I think you’re right bro. Sadly
The problem is ammo isn't like fruits and vegetables, they don't have an expiration date.

Yeah I did 😑 Next time 👍
Went to Academy the other day hoping ammo was reasonable, and I was like WTH? Those prices are unreasonable!
Exactly 👍
I bought 9mm for 11.99 a box of blazer. And $9.99 a box for 5.56 green tip today
