A lot of people might say that architecture is a useless degree or comment on how becoming an architect will not earn you money and some people go as far as to say that it is the worst degree (even though they have very little experience in the curriculum of other career streams). Guess what? most of these people are the ones who chose architecture either because they like drawing or because it’s a good backup plan if you do not work hard to get into engineering during high school. They are ignorant of the fact that architecture is a late blooming profession, the only ones who are going to be able to earn a lot of money by becoming an architect are the people who do it because they are truly interested in the field and thus have the ability to pull through years of hard work to then become a well known personnel with quality work experience to demand higher fees from clients or a higher salary from their employers. To say a rudimentary statement like clearing the NATA exam is the skillset required to become an architect clearly shows one's disinterest in the field and consequently gives a suggestion to the frustration that one is feeling.

well it might be late blooming for some, but the trauma you dave even after completing subsequent time in the profession is really sad, it’s a thankless job and people in India would never value you, I am being very honest here, only people who are good at either site work or contractual work or sofwares will survive, Design, which is rigorously taught has no respect in real life.

Pro tip: Be a 'designer' instead. Save 4-5 years of schooling and the debt that comes along with it. Instead, spend those resources starting a firm that allows you to draft the concepts (the fun, creative and most important aspect of the practice) while your team (architects/engineers/etc) turn those drawings into documents that can be stamped and utilized professionally. You have full control of the business, less liability and more pay. You're welcome.
