    Thanks to a burnt tail light wire and the wrong fuse I'm rewiring my 64. This video is EXACTLY what I needed since I have never done this before. THANKS SO MUCH

    I’ve put in 2 American Auto Wire harnesses, and they both came with fuses. Both were bought from the factory. No need to go through a third party. Their website is easy to maneuver.

      @@Chickeneyegarage I bought the 1960-66 C10 wiring harness that has factory bulkhead fittings and wiper motor fittings etc. It has upgraded provisions for an HEI distributor, and single wire alternator which I am using. It also has more circuits to add AC, power windows, etc if you want them. It came with all of the fuses and flashers. And extra connectors. It bolted right up, and the bulkhead fittings fit perfectly. New key switch, light switch, which I trimmed down per the instructions, and dimmer switch. It is the best wiring harness I have installed. I’ve done several Painless, and I like the American better. I always order from the manufacturer and I talk to them before I order. I bought both crimping tools for the small single and the larger, (double) connectors.

    I daily drive my 66 C10. I’ve been on several 12 hour road trips no cruise control haha. I’m currently trying to replace my wiring harness and it’s been… fun…

      @@Chickeneyegarage very cool Sir, btw I wish to also do the same job, I.e. under dash wire harness… brakes lights etc. ghosts ha ha.. Hey mine is a 63 C10 with a 383 and manual 4 speed putting in fresh engine also a 383 with a new Tremec 5 speed manual in front of a 3;73 ratio 12 bolt rear..
      May I ask for the “Under dash Harness part # please?” Gotta do mine, hey also thanks for the tutorial on the quick ratio gearbox did mine but drilled 2 holes and routed my hydraulic lines through the fender. 2 holes drilled, then added grommets to keep them from chafing or cutting, feels sooo good steering with “1” finger, ha ha smoooooth…
      Thanks for all these mine is as said a 63 Nice blue color “not perfect by no means” love the patina on that truck of yours would rather have that look actually…
      Spring is ac for mine and I’ll thank you again by then as im sure you’ll have or will have done that too…

      It’s not too bad but it’s tough getting into awkward positions trying to remove and install the harness.

    Hello ,Charlie I figured it out !, it was faulty grade A,bolts I went and bought all new bolts,,and the went right in, just waiting on my K6131,pitman arm

    The purple wire is for HEI distributor part part number #52-130A from classic parts of America

      Someone told me it’s for a neutral safety switch for an automatic transmission. Makes sense, since my truck is manual but maybe you’re right, I don’t know but thanks for the info.

    Charlie ,my power steering conversion plate was,welded off very hard to start the bolts 2 would go in good then other 2 would not ,then switch and the other would then the other wouldn't, what a pain ,I took it off and put next to the unit and tried still wouldn't go !,Hmm so now,just thinking of the fix ,we'll I figured it out

    Hey Sir, also I don’t know if you prefer the {High/Low} dimmer via foot but I’ve got the same {I think} kick panel speakers which I don’t prefer because {my} kick panel speakers make it almost impossible to use the dimmer {foot type}… please post how you find them to be?

      If I have running shoes on I can access the foot switch ok.

      I guess I could have shown every connection but I didn’t want to make the video too long. It’s pretty straight forward so you shouldn’t get confused.

      @@ronaldsteveson76 I found out the heavy gauge purple wire is for the neutral safety switch on an automatic transmission. Now it’s a theft deterrent 😃

      You’re right. I found out later it’s for an automatic transmission truck neutral safety switch. I could probably do the same thing with the clutch so it doesn’t start in gear.

      Connection for reverse lights. Option in 65, all 66 came with them.

    What is the Starr Bros knob on your floor? On Drivers side by factory tools?

      There’s a bell on the other side of the floor. Push the knob and it sounds like a old school gas station full service bell. It was on the truck when I got it.
