Thanks so much for posting these Philroyian. Remember watching this at the time as a segment of some show presented by Pete Tong (clublife 98 as you say). Was probably one of things that kick-started my obsession with the roots of House.
amazing, the founder of possibly one of the biggest music genre's today and he seems like an average guy just telling his story of a gone era. hes a true legend, the father of house thanks for the upload man
Go to Vancouver BC there is a fantastic record store with literally hundreds of frankie and old school house tracks... Got voodo ray there, original 12" vinyl about three months ago
We all, fans of Frankie closely or remotely for years, for ever in our reports(memoirs) with your enormous smile. That Frankie makes the Angels dance right now beside Gave in singing exercises. The Planet House is in Black color Vinyl-record. Safe journey, Monsieur. MERCI (soundcloud.com/fkalways/sets/selected-remixes-frankie) Une Légende est née ... R.I.P from Paris :(
thats grammophone records at 2841 north clark in chicago. great store to go to get new dance music as well as kstarke and mr peabodys in chicago as well.
What i wouldn't give to go to the record shop featured at 3:02. They have a Frankie Knuckles and Phuture section in one stack just imagine what other classic stuff they are going to have in a shop full of records.
Hello Phil Starling-- I really enjoyed your interview .. I am starting a new house and disco music show on WKRB 90.3 FM Saturday april 12 11pm est and Im doing a tribute to Frankie Knuckles-- I would love to use snippets of Frankie speaking from your video using only audio== I wanted to know if you would give permission to do so? thanks DJ Jaxx
House music. Frankie Knuckles, "It was named after The Warehouse." That's a very interesting subtle fact... And the fact that Frankie, like Capone, was originally from New York is very intriguing...
Man I miss Ron and the THE BOX! he was the best. Frankie was cool in all but back then he could not come close to Ron Hardy! Ron could Mix frankie used to slam not mix the records in.
Well, least we know what Frankie thought about the origin of the term "House Music"! I beg to differ! Before there was The Warehouse, there was our House and Apartments! I'm starting to believe that whoever came up with the name The Warehouse got it from house!
Yes. Frankie Knuckles was openly gay.... His clubs, including the Warehouse were gay dance clubs... Gay folk kept disco & dance alive.... But straight folk went along too.... That's the thing about House - it unites everyone... Gay, straight, black, white, rich, poor, christian, atheist...
Frankie didn't show up for The History of House. What is that all about? It's not cool to fuck with the people that support house music. He did show up at The Circuit on the north side of Chicago in 2011/2012.
So much love for this man. His productions and DJ mixes take me to another place and time. 🙏🏿😍
So sad that we've lost this guy.
Rest in Heaven
