Bush Session #1: The hills of lutruwita

  • It is traditional before playing in the hills of lutruwita (Tasmania) that we first acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land.
We acknowledge the peoples of lutruwita, the Traditional Custodians of this land, with deep respect. May the Elders, past and present, be blessed and honoured. May we join together and build a future based on compassion, justice, hope, faith, and reconciliation.
This session is dedicated to the peoples of lutruwita, both past and present.
I've got a gig coming up in a weeks time, so spent a couple of days out in the bush getting some practice in. I just wanted to try out a new approach to sequencing. As always, there are plenty of mistakes, but hey ho!
    Merry Christmas!

True story...out and about with the family...leaving the restaurant, I pop to YT, see Rob's got a new set. My son (8yr) with the BT headphones on asks 'What's going on'?...I realize the headphones picked up my phone which is now playing Rob's new set. He yells, 'This is awesome!!'.

Because of you I finally started taking producing more seriously after having thought about getting into it for about a year. Modular Synthesis is way too complicated and expensive for me. But im 3 Months in now and having a blast thanks to you (still just a hobby, I study a different subject in Uni). You have been a crazy inspiration for me and many others aswell Im sure . Thanks for what you do, Mr. Rob.

I gotta say, your music scratches an itch I didn't even know I had. Nostalgia for a technological future we've advanced past. Really takes me back to like, 2008 electronic, the early Eric Prydz albums and funnily enough, the Tron Legacy soundtrack. Absolutely adore what I've heard from you so far, these are some god tier sounds.

@@happylittlesynth Oh absolutely! I've been a fan of him for 15+ years, but just the general vibe of this particular session made me feel strong mau5 vibes, not just from a technical standpoint. You can feel the passion and the precision of Rob's skill so intuitively in this, reminds me alot of when deadmau5 used to stream his production alot more often on twitch.

This is incredible! I have a large modular.. Probably about 1/2 the size of this one. And if this is all analog, all the modulation going on.. It's really amazing. It's difficult to get it all sounding good and get multiple 'tracks' 'mixed' together well. I need more modules!!! (Mine is mostly self built.. A lot of CGS stuff. My synth days were 15 or so years ago.. But I'm starting to get back in to it.)

When I was playing this in my car. My kids commented on first part of it. My 9 year old said that it fits his gameplay on phone, but my 12 year old said something I was not prepared - that it makes him question reality 😅 I said it could be that when artist is in flow state that it’s possible that his soul speaks thru his creation to other souls and yours, like gratings from home 🤗 Thanks!

Man, these are so great. The fact that you are doing these outside live makes me want to be there so much! Theres something about bringing the whole equipment into the performance that elevates the empathy connection, the machines don't seem as 'other' they feel more like a natural extension like a guitar or a violin. Your movement and manipulation of their basic wailing is like the wind through a bassoon or the vibration in a drum but just as an electric orchestra. If there is ever an opportunity to see you perform live I'd love to be there.
