Well, Mojo, Dark Gaia from Sonic Unleashed was a nightmare (Wii Version btw). In order to hit his eyes with Super Sonic on his final blow is challenging, cause as you have to quickly dodge the rocks with the Wii Remote, and running out of rings, while it's your last chance......well... it's tough. Silver Boss from 06 is painful, but I got through it. Egg Emperor was annoying, Sonic 2 Eggman Robot was a little tough cause you need to learn his weak spots and when the weak spots are ready.
@@omar2345XI personally never played 06 but Sonoc Heroes doesn't have horrible controls when you stop spamming the rocket accel and switch to the other teammates when you're supposed to. Yes, it's kinda buggy but it's a 3D Sonic game the first not junky 3D Sonic game was Sonic Colors.
it doesnt qualify as a valid entry because using the whole game is supposed to be relevant to the top ten bosses no the term boss has to be a fight against a character the whole game as a entry doesnt make it relevant
I don't necessarily agree that Sonic 06 should be considered the hardest boss. Sure the game has its glitches and frustrations but I actually got thru it okay. I will admit though, the first battle against Silver was a pain if you got caught in a position where you couldn't escape his grasp. THAT was insanely frustrating.
This just as bad as them not mentioning Eos from top 10 hardest borderlands bosses. As for this list pick a boss, not a broken game, or just do a top 10 broken sonic games
Dark Gaia in Sonic Unleashed should have been on the list. This is coming from a man who has taken down the Biolizard, Death Egg Robot, Ultimate Chaos, Big Hands, Egg Emperor, and defeated Imperator Ix with perfection. Dark Gaia from Sonic Unleashed is what I consider the hardest boss I ever faced in a Sonic game. p.s. I didn't beat all stories in Sonic Heroes which is why I beat Egg Emperor, but didn't battle against ultimate Metal Sonic.
@@erainmartinez8175 Run around the stage, keep your distance from him, wait for him to say "How about this?!", rush him with a homing attack or slide, back off, rinse and repeat. The only reason it becomes difficult is because the camera will not cooperate and the bug where Silver can lock you in place.
@@qadashchaayah144 Some of the boss fights were absolutely brutal. Long drawn out attack sequences, few opportunities to attack, and one mistake makes you do the whole thing over again.
Don’t remind me of that boss fight in the 360 version. The first phase is a nightmare and the second phase (Perfect Dark Gaia) is stressful especially you in that god awful QTE (press the X/Square Button sixty times.)
I would've thrown in these bosses. The Egg Saucer fom Sonic advance 2 for being an auto runner boss with an instakill attack, even when you have rings, the Egg Eagle from Sonic Rush for forcing players to mash A & B simotaniously to stay on the platform or else, & even the Egg Chaser from Sonic advance 3 for requiring the player to use platforms to drop them onto Eggman, a bottomless pit, autoscrolling up, & getting hit can lead to insta death more in likely.
The Sonic 3 final boss was definitely annoying. It's also the only one I remember where even Super Sonic is not immune to losing all rings (and thus Super status) if caught in the arm. However, I'm surprised Sonic & Knuckles didn't make the cut. Robotnik's several forms in Death Egg are definitely a challenge if you have no rings and don't have a good sense of timing. And Knuckles' final metal Sonic boss was quite tough too.
@@jamiewalsh3349 slightly different, is a little too generous. The wii and PS2 actually had a completely (and significantly better) fight against Dark Gaia.
@@HallowedKeeper_ the only problem I had was hitting his eyes while evading Dark Gaia's tentacles and spawns along the temple platforming sections (especially the last one). Being Super Sonic was too easy once I reached full energy from collecting enough rings. Btw, I was playing the 360 version
Death Egg Robot and Mecha Sonic, I understand, considering the fact that not only are you left with 0 rings from the get-go and you have to fight 2 bosses back to back, but each of these 2 bosses have super precise hitboxes where if you hit any other part of both bosses, it's instant death. Also I was expecting Dark Gaia from Sonic Unleashed or (in my opinion) the true final boss of Sonic Rush, where Super Sonic and Burning Blaze fight Eggman and Eggman Nega. For me, that boss was extremely frustrating control-wise, but the music was cool nonetheless.

Biolizard: Yeah, that fight was tricky, especially those black orbs he coughs out, but once I'm past that, the rest is pretty easy. Mecha Sonic & Death Egg Robot: Oh, the PTSD is coming back. Thank God for debug mode. But seriously, SEGA couldn't just give us one ring -- one fucking ring -- in the Anniversary Mode in Sonic Origins?! Do you know how nerve wracking it is to do this?! Sonic '06: Okay, enough. Stop treating this game like a damn punching bag. First off, Silver was no issue for me. It was a literal hit and run affair. You know what, here's a challenge for you: Play Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and see if you can stay awake. The boredom in that game is worst than anything in '06.
EE: Once you can get the patterns down for the running sections, it's not too tough. Being near the bottom of the list was appropriate though. BA: Up until Origins, I had hardly ever faced Big Arm since it was excluded from Sonic 3 & Knuckles if you play as Sonic or Tails (I think he was the boss for Launch Base as Knuckles, but I'd have to check it out again). Much like the first Death Egg Robot, it's a spacing jump game. Give yourself distance and jump at the exact right time consistently for X number of times. Still think it deserves a spot on the list and is probably the toughest boss of S3&K. PC: It really isn't difficult. The main issue is reacting as you're on the last part of the approach, but you're invincible the entire time you do so. If anything, Finalhazard was MUCH tougher to get around, since you also had to aim for the weak point. II: Mentioned in my own comment, enough practice with the touch screen inputs via POW moves and good item collecting (general RPG rule) means you should be fine. MS: Yeah, they were right with this one. Though this is just a fighting game staple to have the final boss be aggravatingly difficult. MM: The main issue was the attack that trapped your friends. But as long as you leveled up your characters, you can break them out easily, which in turn makes Metal really easy to fight. SL: Yes, there's an optional boss fight with him. They wanted to show that Lancelot wasn't a chump like the first time you fight him. Earns a spot on this list. BL: You're doomed if you don't have a bright screen with this fight. And the camera angle with you running towards it was not great design at all. I think BL is more difficult for bad design than actually being a challenging boss. MS&DER: They are only REALLY difficult if you're impatient. Once you give yourself enough time to understand their patterns, their difficulty isn't as bad. Still a very tough fight, but only artificially made more difficult due to not allowing you to bring rings into it. 06: I'm with ya on that sentiment. It deserves the vitriol, but it's also getting tiring when people lean on it for their jokes.
That fight at the end of Sonic 2 is annoying even when you figure out the pattern. Thankfully, phase 2 is pretty easy (albeit pretty long), but phase 1 requires too much precision for a game with limited lives. Thank god for story/anniversary mode.

Death Egg Robot haunts me still, but at least the music is good. Sonic '06 - I'm currently 50% through Sonic's story. So difficult. Silver's fight was actually easy compared to auto-run parts. It's no use!
@@Terminal_Apotos It's kind of hard to memorize when the controls get all funky and you have little time to react to your next actions. Not to mention all of the bugs and glitches.
Perfect chaos is pretty easy to fight because I’ve beat him easily a lot of times because I know the strategy, I did find biolizard tough as shadow so I can agree with this
soo no body gonna talk about egg king in sonic rush really !!!!💀 , that boss took half of my life literally it was one of the most hardest boss i have ever played against
perfect chaos harder than big arms? Im surprised Chaos was on this list. id love to think he was hard since imo hard = better but chaos was to easy to beat compared to big arms.
I have replayed Adventure 2 every few months for the vast majority of my life and I just learned that the biolizard has sand, not water. I always joke about it being lizard piss but now I know it's lizard litter.
2:34 if Super Sonic had the ability to spindash, it would’ve made the boss easier. 8:56 Mecha? I thought it was Robo Sonic! 10:0310:1911:34 I actually like this game. Edit: you should include The End from Sonic Frontiers. He’s the hardest boss ever, even harder than Sonic 06.
For me, it was DEFINITELY the "Lancelot Returns" fight. The hardest part is going for the 5-star rating since those in a boss fight require you to NOT GET HIT. Easier said than done in "Lancelot Returns". Especially since it was Shadow the Hedgehog chosen to play the part. All of Shadow's moves are utilized by Lancelot in aforementioned boss fight.
What about Egg Dragoon? Both in Sonic Unleashed and in Sonic generations this thing is a nightmare to defeat! That's why it is one of the most beloved bosses from the modern Sonic games as well as Death Egg's replacement as Eggman's go to Robot. Don't tell me you didn't put it here because of Sonic Forces! We don't talk about that....
Both of them are easy unleashed has you avoid eggman’s painfully easy attacks and attack the green thing followed by quick time events where you can just pause for brief second to memorize them and generations is just boost to get close to the dragoon and homing attack I know there’s more to it but that’s what your doing most of the time
My top 10 hardest boss fights 10. Labyrinth Zone boss 9. King Arthur 8. Egg Emperor 7. Egg Viper 6 Shadow V.S Silver boss fight 5. Death Egg robot 4. Metal over lord 3. Erazor Djinn 2. Biolizard Honorable mention Sir lancelot Perfect chaos Final hazard Doomsday zone Sonic and the secret rings final boss 1. Dark Gaia/perfect Dark Gaia
It's always been Eggman in Japan, which is where the games are made, us Americans named him Robotbik in the comics and shows until we recognized the translation error
For the bosses I've faced thats in this list. Big Arms: Everything the guy said about him was right. Small hitbox and areas to avoid being hit. but he's forgetting one little tidbid. In Vanilla Sonic 3, Big Arms can powerbomb you while you're Super Sonic and knock you out of your super form. I dont k ow if that was intentionally done or a glitch. Thank God they fixed it in Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Perfect Chaos: He 5 really THAT hard, but he was challenging. If you messed up and didn't take him our fast enough, you'd burn through your rings, and you'd automatically die once you changed back to regular Sonic. FUN FACT: If you run to PC's tentancles instead of his body, they will launch you directly to his brain, and you DOUBLE damage. So instead of 4 hits to defeat any of the phases of Perfect Chaos instead, it'll take 2. (If you use the tentacle method twice) I am not sure if that's a glitch or Sega purposely placed it there as a hidden secret to discover. Metal Sonic and Death Egg Robot: Metal Sonic is a breeze. Just hit him on his forehead and defeat him ASAP. Because the longest the fight progresses, the more moves he'll pull out of his arsenal. As for the death egg robot, it took me a LONG time before I found out where to hit and where not to touch. Once I enetuslly figured that out, it became a battle of patience. Sidebar: If you want a REAL challege, try using Knuckles in Sonic 2 to fight the Death Egg Robot. That is REALLY hard because Knuckles has a lower jump, which means he's more likely to get hit and die.
You're rage on Sonic 06 makes me want to play it. Seriously I never played this game and yet no matter how many times people tell me "it sucks" still makes me want to play it even more.
@@alexandergrider1849 ni, it's uh, it's still bad. But I will say, it isn't as bad as people say. Still in my top 5 worst games. But that is because I actually enjoy Sonic. Like, honestly I can find joy in some of the games people dislike, except this one and a couple of others
Sonic 4 Episode 1 Had A Terrible Final Boss. During The Final Section The Robot Hits The Ground and you have to homing attack it. It usually doesn’t lock on, resulting in the floor Breaking Below you. If you get a game over, you have to replay THE ENTIRE BOSS RUSH AGAIN. Farmed lives in casino street act 2 to beat this one
Am I the only one that sees them shit on 06 all the time?I understand that it’s broken but it’s not THAT bad. Btw hard doesn’t mean bad but they see hard as a bad thing.
God, can people stop bashing 06? I swear half these people have never done a proper play through! I’ve done 6 full runs, including a full S rank run and rarely run into glitches. And Silver’s fight isn’t that hard. Just play it smart. If anything, Iblis phase 2 is the worst cause it puts you to sleep!
RW:i be honest with you,Egg Emperor was alittle tricky to fight ,you just got to be careful with your distance, cause if you're faraway from him you'll hear him say "CHARGE!" like a knight he will use his lance to attack you and its even annoying if you're in midair or high up in the air when he attacks you flying character and when theres no road or platform to catch your fall
This doesn’t seem like a list of genuinely hard sonic bosses but moreso bosses that YOU had issues with. Like seriously, complaining that Metal Madness makes you utilize the team mechanic (the main gameplay loop of Sonic Heroes) to defeat the boss shows that it’s more of an issue with you as a player as opposed to the overall boss design. Also, the fact that Dark Gaia isn’t present shows that this list was created by someone who isn’t that versed in the sonic series as a whole
My thoughts exactly but even I myself didn't have much trouble with Dark Gaia after recognizing the patterns and such. Hell, I went into the fight with 95 lives and previously beating Eggmanland in 45 minutes despite all the lives I did lose but recovered throughout the stage and ended up with an S Rank which surprised the hell out of me. While losing about 6 lives during the Temple Run sections of the boss fight, I figured a strategy and beat Perfect Dark Gaia easily as Super Sonic after maxing out my energy gauge. Also lemme iterate further that I was playing the 360 version of Unleashed
What about the boss of Wing Fortress Zone is "Sonic 2"? At least the final bosses of the game are somewhat reasonable once you learn their attack patterns, but the boss right before them? That thing is monstrously difficult even with some rings! It took me over 2 dozens lives (after using a glitch to get 99 lives) to finally take that thing down!
The worst thing about lancelot wasn't the fight it was having to fight him perfectly with 5 stars multiple times so you could get the crafting item to make his best sword
The Big Arm Robotnik from Sonic 3 had another flaw from the Sega Genesis days: Even if you were Super Sonic, if you got caught by the arm and slammed down, it would undo the transformation which I thought was total BS. Luckily, they fixed that in the recently released Sonic Origins for current generation consoles.
I thought it was a nice touch honestly. To punish people for relying too heavily on Super Sonic and actually have a final boss fight. But since Big Arm is no longer the final boss if you play S3&K, it makes sense to allow people to tank the attack in Origins. I just think it was great they reincorporated the fight for Sonic & Tails, complete with cutscene.
I actually respected this list up until Sonic 06 was mentioned. Yes the game is bad, rushed, and glitchy but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun. A lot of BS deaths can happen but simply playing the stages is quite fun
Pt. 2. Also, why wasnt some.of the bosses from Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure on the list? Some of those bosses were bard too! Sonic Rush: That final boss on Sonic Rush gave me that work! Especially seeing that he has an insta-kill attack. Rush Adventure: Having Johnny and that other guy bratingnon you at the same time was challenging but doable. But that final boss after them? Hard AF.

Tf Perfect Chaos is not hard
The bosses I've faced:
Big Arm - I died at least 50 times. Stupid tiny hit zone
Mecha Sonic and Death Egg Robot - MS is easy, can finish in 10 seconds. Death Egg Robot haunts me still, but at least the music is good.
Sonic '06 - I'm currently 50% through Sonic's story. So difficult. Silver's fight was actually easy compared to auto-run parts. It's no use!
godamn lancelot
@@ChandelureDominic Lancelot returns is genuinely one of the most painful boss experiences I've had. Still haven't beaten it
8:03
Thank you for acknowledging this Pain in the A boss IMO.
Metal Madness made this list? I wasn't aware anyone struggled with that boss. I've always found it a breeze
tbh death egg boss is hard but like once you get the key of spindashing and waiting its so ez.
Having sonic 06 as a boss is such a cop out. Also how is dark Gaia from the hd version of unleashed not on here.
The Biolizard is one of the best Sonic fights ever. I love it. You can always play the 3DS remake version if you can't handle the SA2 version.
It’s no use
TAKE THIS!!!!
That single line pissed me off more than I can count!
@@princeofpokemon2934 you must’ve sucked at the game
@@Terminal_Apotos It's hard not to suck. Especially when Sonic has to run so fast, you are given very little time to react.
@@princeofpokemon2934 Memorization is the name of the game.
@@Terminal_Apotos It's kind of hard to memorize when the controls get all funky and you have little time to react to your next actions. Not to mention all of the bugs and glitches.
Whoever the voiceover guy is. Tell us you're terrible at Sonic games without telling us you're terrible at Sonic games.
*plays the diss airhorn sound effect* dude sick burn!!!!
I was wondering how on earth is none of Sonic 06 bosses on this list. Then I saw what's in first place.
RW:Metal Madness was like beating him with a pattern, sir lancelot timing your slashes and dodging was hard, biolizard scared the crap outta me.😓
I didn’t think perfect chaos was that hard I beat it in like 2 tries
I like the energy of this video, I’m glad you share everyone’s pain MojoPlays employee, sorry I don’t know your name.
10:03 *REALLY?*
#1: THE GAME, SONIC 06??
THE *GAME* IT'S SELF IS A BOSS?.....
*THAT.....DOESN'T.....COUNT.* 😑
Perfect chaos is pretty easy to fight because I’ve beat him easily a lot of times because I know the strategy, I did find biolizard tough as shadow so I can agree with this
All of this to make a 06 joke, why I ain't surprised.
My man really put chaos as one of the hardest bosses
Sonic 2's final boss was more exhaustingly long and repetitive than difficult
When you create a whole top 10 list just to bash Sonic 06
If perfect chaos boss is hard, then why Sonic team brought it on Sonic Generations??
soo no body gonna talk about egg king in sonic rush really !!!!💀
,
that boss took half of my life literally it was one of the most hardest boss i have ever played against
nobody:
literally nobody:
watchmojo: "GuyS sOnic 06 bad XDD this is still relevant rigHt?!?!"
I think the hardest boss is the Egg Serpent from "Sonic Rush".
We get it. Sonic '06 bad. In other news, water is wet. Rest of the list was fine though
…so we’re just gonna forget rise of lyric aswell?
Sonic 06 itself as the #1 hardest boss. I haven't played it before, but I can tell it looks hard to control.
Do yourself a favour and continue not to play it aha, the story itself is great but the game is glitch crazy
@@Randomguy-oe2qy LOL! I won't. I'll just enjoy watching cutscenes of it in the meantime.
Only the Mach Speed Sections, but those become easy once you know what you’re doing. The guy in video was clearly jumping off the platform on purpose
Full games dont count
perfect chaos harder than big arms? Im surprised Chaos was on this list. id love to think he was hard since imo hard = better but chaos was to easy to beat compared to big arms.
HAH HAH SONIC 06 BAD HAH HAH ITS NO USE HAH HAH SONIC 06 EVERYONE PLEASE LAUGH
I clicked on this video because I saw the final boss of sonic adventure in the thumbnail and the really brought me back 😭
Egg Emperor was the bane of my childhood.
6 year old me was stuck on him with Team Dark for a year.
Sonic Unleashed's (PS3/360) final boss was the most infuriatingly difficult thing ever!
Amazing video of the insane boss fights in sonic the hedgehog video games, fantastic job mojo plays.
I have replayed Adventure 2 every few months for the vast majority of my life and I just learned that the biolizard has sand, not water. I always joke about it being lizard piss but now I know it's lizard litter.
RW:fighting death egg and metal sonic without any rings is like doing a daredevil run in Super Mario Galaxy in the Bouldergiest boss fight.😕
SagaSonictheHedgehog Metal Sonic version of Shao Kahn, M. Bison & Rugal Bernstein
Sonic Boom games: AM I A JOKE TO YOU
Egg Emperor is hard when you first play it, but when you play the boss a lot mor ethan its a piece of cake.
2:34 if Super Sonic had the ability to spindash, it would’ve made the boss easier.
8:56 Mecha? I thought it was Robo Sonic!
10:03 10:19 11:34 I actually like this game.
Edit: you should include The End from Sonic Frontiers. He’s the hardest boss ever, even harder than Sonic 06.
I least I played The Sonic collection ps3 to save it every time I take the hit from the final in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 1:44
MojoPlays, you're at your best when you do these types of lists (though you did one too many Zelda lists recently).
In Unleashed it was pathetic. In Generations it's tough all right.
@@jamiewalsh3349
It honestly felt more cinematic in Unleashed and a bit weaker in Generations in my personal opinion.
Both of them are easy unleashed has you avoid eggman’s painfully easy attacks and attack the green thing followed by quick time events where you can just pause for brief second to memorize them and generations is just boost to get close to the dragoon and homing attack I know there’s more to it but that’s what your doing most of the time

A little too much on Sonic 06? Wait i forget i mean it was too much on Sonic 06 WM. Never heard you guys give up so quick.
I got through sonic 06 pretty good. Also, I thought Lancelot was actually the easiest of the bosses in The Black Knight.
Not the second time
Yeah definitely not the second
Lancelot is easy the first time but the rematch is actual hell
@@SonicSwift99 I'm actually kind of glad. I would have been disappointed if Shadow was the easiest boss.
I agree, that was hilarious, Sonic 06 is a battle in itself, like you said 'It's no use!' 😂
Missed opportunity to include clips of the Game Grumps' struggle with Egg Emperor. "TAKE THIS!! TAKE THIS!! TAKE THIS!! TAKE THIS!! HAA HA!!".
(Announcer keeps calling Robotnik "Eggman")
"YOU’RE ON MY SH*T LIST!" ~ Phantom Limb
It's always been Eggman in Japan, which is where the games are made, us Americans named him Robotbik in the comics and shows until we recognized the translation error
For me number 1 should be the chemical plant boss in which it cause a life long fear of water and platforms.
Every entry on this list was easy for me, all I can say is get good scrub lord.
I grew up on what is now considered bad controls and still had fun.
Same here.
It’s not as bad as people say lmao. In the video you can see the guy jump off the platform on purpose lmao
it's not bad honestly ppl are just bad at it
@@alexandergrider1849 ni, it's uh, it's still bad. But I will say, it isn't as bad as people say. Still in my top 5 worst games. But that is because I actually enjoy Sonic. Like, honestly I can find joy in some of the games people dislike, except this one and a couple of others
You should give it a try. I really enjoyed the game
I was thinking Dark Gaia would be number one ... But no , you convinced me . Nothing can be more infuriating than playing Sonic 06
Did you play it
God, can people stop bashing 06? I swear half these people have never done a proper play through! I’ve done 6 full runs, including a full S rank run and rarely run into glitches. And Silver’s fight isn’t that hard. Just play it smart. If anything, Iblis phase 2 is the worst cause it puts you to sleep!
Sir Lancelot was a hard boss? Not for me. I easily beat him and i didn't take a single hit.
Big arms was so easy dark Gaia wasnt
I'm gonna be honest when he was transitioning to #1, in my head I heard "IT'S NO USE"
Nah the "That tornado's carrying a car" one was the hardest sonic boss
Is no one gonna mention how FRUSTRATING the friggin' Time Eater boss fight is in Generations...
It's way worse in the 3ds version
3DS or HD?
I was here when this video was new. About 15 Minutes.
So the Antlion from Sonic 2 Game Gear is nowhere to be seen with its screen crunch and slippery slope with no rings?
Okay, cool. Cool.
Egg dragoon in generations was the bane of my playthrough. I took multiple attempts and had to by lives from the skill shop
I played sonic 06 and I completed it. It was ok i guess.
I like how you made Sonic '06 the number one hardest boss fight.
Hope they include the biolizard
Sonic 06 is not a boss, it’s my favorite Sonic game, I’ve completed it three times in a row.
Ok. That last one got me laughing. Also.
*I T 'S N O U S E!*
Giant metal sonic in Sonic Mania is a life eater...such a badass to beat!
Pt.
Hard AF.
Perfect Chaos was a piece a cake to me.
