    Hey there! Thanks again for the video!
    Really unfortunate you got that Popobawa bug. We wanted to let you know it's fixed with first patch! :) (Already implemented on Steam, sometime this month on Switch!)

    Believe it or not, my name and time is at the top of the Leaderboard at around 4:27.
    It's a bit meaningless as the #1 spot will inevitably change and eventually somebody else will come around and take the top spot on the board, but I wanted to thank you guys for immortalizing my record in your review, albeit unintentionally.

    Ever since that L&R game from the podcast, I can't help but take note of the Brad "_____ does a good job" line in his reviews.

    Great video. The way you tied off your initial impressions with a clip of the games animation was on point, and you've got a voice for this, my dude.

    My god, how I missed your reviews since "GameTrailers" days. NO ONE breaks it down into well balanced reviews like you. Thank you for bringing your talents to Tube!!!

    I agree with pretty much everything in this review. It’s a simple sweet ride to get through. That was until I started getting really fed up with the on foot platforming. The platforming sections when outside the mech are so unfair and brief that you can die in one hit before even knowing what killed you and lose 15 minutes of progress. It’s enough to make me stop playing altogether for the rest of the day.

    Wish more games went with a SNES look over NES. NES is a biit too pixel-y where SNES still looks awesome.

      I agree, but I've done pixel art for games, and it's really easy to underestimate the jump in workload between those tile and pallet sizes. Any competent artist can make a decent looking 8 bit tile set, but to make a really good 16bitesque one takes many times the time and skill.

    I've been recently playing through the Contra and Castlevania collections. Had my eye on Panzer Paladin for quite some time. I'm really glad you guys covered this one. Hope we see more games like it.

    There's a lot to love about the game, but I think the biggest problem were the boss battles, that could be trivialized even on hard mode by using an attack + defense buff spell and then equipping a boss weapon. Even the final boss was no match for this + using the lighting spell. The only really challenging boss was Putrid Paladin and the weird spellcaster.

    A 7 feels right. For me the biggest negative this game has is how it runs out of new ideas way too quickly. From beginning to end, stages keep repeating the exact same enemies, hazards and level design ideas, in addition to the same miniboss which was mentioned. Still an enjoyable ride, I just wish it did more with its levels. Also, the review didn't mentioned it but the player created weapons is a cool gimmick!

    • @CrimRui
      @CrimRui 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. In just two stages you'll see everything this game has to offer and that not how it's supposed to go. Outside of breakable weapons this game should have had upgrades.

    • @haravikk
      @haravikk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the player created weapons are briefly mentioned towards the end (4:30) complete with EZA… wand?

    This game was NOT on my radar at all, LOVE the art. Awesome review Brad!
    Hopefully it gets a physical release too, based off the devs history with Limited Run, it's looking good!

    The best part of this game is it's anime aesthetics and presentation. If they wanted a rip-off Megaman stuff they should have taken all the good parts like getting power-ups. I was expecting to get an air dash or something but the game is pretty empty outside of getting breakable weapons.

    Has a Shovel Knight feel.

    • @CSLucasEpic
      @CSLucasEpic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might seem that way from the 8 bit design. But gameplay wise they are quite different. While Shovel Knight has a more "Duck Tales" feel (among other classic NES games), Panzer Paladin is more of a "Blaster Master" style of game (among, also, other classic NES games)

    Gotta say, that 7.0 doesn't seem to match the actual text of the review. It's fine, but it's just strange since the review seems to just gush over the game until the score comes up.

    • @rcoh4
      @rcoh4 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Repeating mini boss is a good reason to knock it down to 7.

    • @brendantoungate8287
      @brendantoungate8287 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I was just going to say that. The text sounds much more similar to an 8. That being said, the text of the review always matters more than the score.

    • @platonicdescartes
      @platonicdescartes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Brad almost always review scores lower than the other Easy Allies. Good to remember these are only the specific reviewer's personal opinion. EA doesn't have a very concrete standard for scores. Better to judge the game on the review body than the score itself.

    • @godribbon
      @godribbon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I dunno man, he mentions the repeated boss fight and how the level design is average. To me it read like a 7 or 8. Sometimes there's not much bad about a game but also not much great, and that's how this seemed to me, and also matches my own opinion of the game. I certainly wouldn't say the review was gushing

    • @thelastgogeta
      @thelastgogeta 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not expecting Devil May Cry levels of escalation for repeating boss fights, but in the worst case scenario unless the boss is actually bad or there aren't exploits. It should be interesting just from what weapons you have at the time, if you end up fighting out of your suit and how you learn over the game.
      The score is not important.

    The plot is the typical NES era game plot. Which fits the game's feel quite nicely.

    I really wanted to love this game, but the level design is not good... And if you are gonna copy that mega man style boss selection, why not follow that same logic of strength and weakness of bosses? Like the weapon you get with one, you can use to fight another boss more easily. When you kill a boss it just drops a regular weapon. By the way, I really did not like the weapons and upgrades systems, upgrades being very limited, and the weapons, even though have some variety, have no much difference from one to another, I don´t like the way you have to use a weapon also as a consumable item or magic. I think that I quit playing this game after a couple of stages and did feel like ever coming back.
