  • Rediscover the forest through the fresh viewpoint of a Papuan chief born in Papua New Guinea: Mundiya Kepanga, the "child of the forest". This traditional storyteller unveils the extent of the deforestation that has drastically accelerated in his country in recent years.
    Following his journey as an environmental defender, from his own village to the largest international symposiums, the film delivers a new way to look at the planet: our forests are a universal heritage that we have to save.
    Committed to this cause, Mundiya Kepanga becomes an ambassador of the forest and the voice of indigenous people. A call to protect the world’s primal forests, reminding us that we are all the brothers of the trees.

  • @munchezfonataba

    As a fellow Papuan from West Papua, his first monologue feels like my ancestors speaks directly into my soul.
    Deforestation prolonged with large scale Palm oil plantations are destroying our forest in the whole island. From West Papua to PNG, we are experiencing this phenomena where we are loosing our nature into 'economy'.
    Moreover, most of our leaders are either not bright or too corrupted to implement such a clever way to develop our economy while keeping our sacred and pristine nature intact.

    OMG this video brought me to tears. What a beautiful soul this man is. There is horrific deforestation all around the world, including the Amazon, as well as US and Canada. Bless Robert Redford for his work and the tireless work of this wonderful chief. The amount of atmospheric oxygen is slowly decreasing. It's frightening. Blessings

    • @BridgeportIPA
      @BridgeportIPA 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Don't be frightened of oxygen levels, they're largely stable due to the greening of the Northern Hemisphere. 😊Interestingly, over the last 35 years we've seen the greening of vast parts of land that formerly had little or no plant life. How vast? Twice the size of the continental United States. Carbon is plant food, it seems. And plants in cold areas love incremental temperature increases. 😊

      @@BridgeportIPA Many people even don't know ,that carbon is plant food , carbon levels in the air depend primarily from sun activity , they are not caused by man , as we are told .

    What I do not understand is why the govt in charge of Papua New Guinea is not confronted directly to make them stop the logging of its precious forests. Raising awareness with children and distant bureaucrats in faraway Paris is one thing, but what is needed is direct action to stop the logging of these irreplaceable primeval rainforests. The loggers and their logging companies should be sent chasing back to their own countries, and the roads built to bring heavy machinery into these forests should be entirely blocked. Only direct action where the damage is being done will stem the tide of this destruction. Show this video to govt officials who are probably taking bribes to allow logging to continue.
