The people living in the tribes are incredibly intelligent, able to live in their world, while understanding the world of the cities. They are not simple people at all. If we truly believe in human rights, we would be protecting not only the environment but also people who live there and depend on it, who live so very differently from us. What a beautiful people they are.

its the second time i watched this documentary..The reason for such poor intrest in a documentary like this is men's greed... also some may have guilty conciences and hate it when their inner voices ask them 'what are you going to do about the issue'? Dismissing it, and choosing the easy way out, buy putting it into the to hard basket. Where atually everyone should partition these callus governments to stop their destractions.

There are a lot of naive comments here retelling the old "noble/beautiful/moral" myths about indigenous cultures. This is an extremely interesting doc primarily about the wasp ritual as a right of passage for young men. There is very little else about the culture except for what you can see from clues in the background. (It was enough to focus here on the wasp theme). Sociologists who have studied these kinds of societies may have some surprising news for some of you. I know nothing of this particular tribe, but I'd guess they exhibit some of the same traits as many other similar forest cultures. These probably include cruelty, love, violence, abuse, greed, rape, caring, sympathy and hatred. Kind of like us!

I feel as if I have lived toy that way in a previous life. This is why “civilized” people are never satisfied. True we need clothing and food and a means of water and waste disposal, but in an area where people are spread out and the weak are killed by nature, the human becomes stronger and thus strength is a dominant trait in the genetics.
I remember never being happier than to work and sweat under the sun every day and hew good it was to eat and wash and drink and breathe., not worrying about a car or rent or oppression. This is how life is meant to be. Who needs so many humans if they do not take care of that which created them?
Mankind will always survive and nature will win, be it as it may by a pandemic or natural forces. And that is good.

I can’t say I wasn’t worried that one of men or even one of the women and children were about to have an anaphylactic reaction and die. But I think that because they have been getting stung by the wasps from a young age that an immunity that gets stronger over time. This is off topic but after watching numerous documentaries about different tribes, I started to think about the probability that they don’t have issues with child abuse or sexual crimes or murders. It really makes me feel like becoming modernized, placing value on material things and being lost and without family even though we live amongst thousands of people is what will be the end of humanity as we know it. Who needs money when you live off the land and remembering that it takes a village to raise a child

Yes, getting swarmed and getting stung is not a walk in the park. Oddly my brother and I hacked into a nest while clearing a path. Woke up a day later in the field hospital with welts all over, but thereafter ants and other insects wouldn't go near us. Ants wouldn't bite or get on our bare feet. It does leave an awful taste in your mouth. Never had trouble with bees either, but that was over 40 years ago and even in our late years, bugs keep their distance.

I am a deeply spiritual person and my relationship with the natural world of the utmost importance. On the other hand it is very easy for us Western Europeans romanticize indigenous existence. On the one hand I believe it helps people become more of what is vest in being human. On the other is a hard, demanding life. Lifespan is shorter, medicine less effective and starvation always around the corner. And these people continue to suffer from our actions, as is very part of the message of this documentary. The the traditional life of the indigenous people of the Amazon is under attack and threatened with extinction by the greed of capitalism. May the universe protect them.

I did a quick search for info concerning the Kayapo. Generally, aside from traditional mores and tasks for young men, such expenditure of energy is usually associated with getting honey, which associated citings indicated, indeed honey is collected, but nothing was mentioned in the video. These indians, also, deal with the isula-ant, the 'veinte-cuatro-hora' ants, because the painful sting lasts for 24-hours. Ants were mentioned in the video, but it seemed like the stings were endured above at the nest. DA Posey, an anthropological entomologist referred to the ants as sting-less. It surely didn't look like they were stingless!

Military training throughout the world subjects new recruits to extreme discomfort. This is for building strength and ignoring pain. While this is certainly more of a magical approach, the basic concept is exactly the same: to prepare warriors for the harsh realities of war. With Navy Seals, Army Rangers etc. the torture is so severe that only a small percentage can succeed. With this system, once at the top of the ladder a candidate is pretty locked in to completing the program, "dropping out" from such a height would likely be fatal, and would certainly break bones. Seriously hard core stuff!

There is very little left of the Amazon Forest, and the Brazilian government is participating in cutting it all down so fast.
