      Watch Super Bowl IX highlights - Steelers 16 Vikings 6. The only score Minnesota got was a TD from a blocked punt (and then the Vikings missed the PAT.) Otherwise, that Super Bowl would have been the first and only shutout. Steelers D was not seriously challenged all day that day.

    • @yaahlabanyamyan144
      @yaahlabanyamyan144 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cynthiatravers8757 this is worse I'm sorry. As a Giants fan. The fact that the only score the Giants got was a kick return, and that momentum was quickly destroyed by a Ravens kick return right after. They completely demoralized the Giants. Other than maybe Super Bowl 48, this was the most physically overwhelmingly dominant SB a defense has ever played

    • @eliteteamkiller319
      @eliteteamkiller319 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@cynthiatravers8757 Did you not realize that in this Super Bowl, the defense also held the other offense to zero points? LOL watch the video Cynthia. The Giants offense scored nothing, just like the Vikings in Super Bowl IX.
      Anyway, both of those Super Bowls were insanely dominant defensive performances, but I still give the edge to the Ravens and here's why: The Ravens allowed an incredible 2.87 yards per pass attempt in this game, while the Steelers allowed 3.92 (also incredible, but almost a third worse). While Tarkenton was held to a 14.1 passer rating, Collins was held to a 7.1 passer rating-and this despite the offenses being given much more aid from the rules in 2001 than in 1975. Despite the average team passing for 53.7 more yards per game in 2000 than in 1975, the Ravens only allowed 10 more passing yards-and that was on _13 more attempts._ Not to mention, the Ravens scored a touchdown on defense, which is better than the safety that the 1974 Steelers got.
      So, I'd say the Ravens win this battle of astounding defensive performances. But BOTH were mind-mindbogglingly dominant.

      In the era of the salary cap, it's third only to the Seahawks' 43-8 demolishing of the **'13 Broncs** and the Bucs' four touchdown win over a stellar Raiders offense. The only SB where a good offense routed in this same era was the 98 Broncs! Two of the top defenses **since the '85-6 Bears** were **both in the same division in 2000**, and the Divisional game between them was such a stalemate that it took the dice rolling in Baltimore's favor with two nonoffensive TD's to break the tie and seal it, otherwise it would've been the Titans who'd have taken the Giants to the only offensive shutout in the Super Bowl era. Defense is king.

    The mistake teams made was that they tried to run the ball against this defense. It’s probably the best run defense of all time. Teams should have spread the ball out, 4 wideouts maybe 5 and just let it fly. As good as this D was, you could throw on them. The Jets & Jags pulled it off that year throwing for a lot of yards.

Even once Giants found some air with KR TD 19:14 Ravens snuffed that air out immediately with KR TD of their own right after 19:41 (lots of illegal pushing in the back by Ravens special teams 19:47). Back when defense was allowed. Patrick mahomes would not be getting all those slant routes over the middle of the field back in this era. Quarterbacks were limited to how they moved the ball because of certain teams/players. Ray lewis would knock your star recievers out of the game if they cut across the field back then. Nowadays its a penalty. Back when real football was played.

Way more peace of mind when you can rely on your defense over the offense. Ideally they play complimentary football but it’s much easier to maintain control of the game with defensive stops
