does it only have follow mode or will there be the picture by picture mode? that mode is gone from the beam pro, despite being the most useful on using it as a day to day display edit, ah yeah it exist now thats great. maybe i should start selling my Air2 pro and beam
How is the text clarity on the one pros? Seriously considering these for productivity, but currently the air 1s I currently have are rough for text clarity
Huh - I have used them for whole work days without issue. Not sure how much clearer they could be without increasing the resolution. The brightness specs seem to be higher on the new ones, so that might help?
Thanks for the review, loved it. Is there a cap that can be put in when the camera is not attached? Also, is camera plug and play for PC/mobile? Does it have USBC adapter?
Very informative - thanks. I'm unclear what the advantage the Pro's extra 7º field of view is when we're still limited to an HD pixel count from the display. Isn't the effective pixel per degree resolution reduced accordingly while we have to turn our heads even more to view segments of the "ultra-wide" screen?
Thanks, Chi, I can tell you’re about to take more money from me right after I just got the beam pro and the XReal 2 two glasses. I guess I’m gonna have to give the 2 setup to some random kid for Christmas.
The Goovis G3 Max seems to me to be superior in every way! But let's wait for the XREAL One Pro 😊🙏 (Let's see if the PRO version the display will be much closer to the eyes because for the moment these glasses are not there yet.)
lmao. Those are a $1200 bulky video-viewing full headset. Not really a comparison. I can say Apple Vision Pro is far superior to these...but that doesnt mean anything.
Despite how much I love this glasses, they release new ones every six months and all those are practically the same thing, they’re portable monitors and won’t work as a stand-alone device, you can use them with your pc, portable console or the beam, I think this new chip could improve how it works, but one thing ir seriously need to be re designed it’s the nose pad, it’s so un confortable after a while, would be much better having something like the rayban’s wayfarer series (simular to the nose pad on the viture one)
I just checked xreal's website and the ONE pro is $599. but they offer a bundle with the beam pro. I thought the x1 chip replaces that altogether. What is going on
crazy that magic leap essentially died while nreal continued to grow. great work nreal team. i'd love to see a more cyberpunk looking frame option. the rayban looking frame look awkward in my opinion
I actually still use nreal glasses and still love them. Although I want a new pair of these and the beam pro. Should I buy the ones or wait for the pros should I buy everything I see or wait for something else lol I actually really love these types of glasses I use them at home in bed and on trips.
I actually wasn't expecting them to improve their product in this way. Right after lenovo and a couple others released their own copy cat option. Especially because the idea of the beam pro was so backwards.
Ah an early tested impressions video - nice. Looking forward to this one, feels like the baseline they should have been aiming for but tech wasn’t quite there yet. I hope you can save your options, and it’d be nice to have a companion app for iPhone even if only to use for adjusting settings more conveniently
Increased FOV, higher resolution, etc. will come in time. For now, built-in 3DOF and universal compatibility are huge improvements! My Meta Quest 3 sits in a drawer, and I didn't buy into Visor 4k, precisely because they don't offer that functionality.
Hi, how does the XREAL One handle reflections? (Provided I'm not always in black clothes with no prints))) Are they smaller than the Air 2 pro? And by the way, does the special light-blocking visor from the Air series fit the One?
How transparent are these glasses compared to the Xreal Ultra in their most transparent configuration? It is one of the drawbacks I experience. I use them in a dark environment and you want the glasses to be more transparent in their most transparent mode. I hope they'll come with a 6 DoF version of this as well.
I have the nreal air which gives me bad eye strain. Its one of the main reasons I didnt stick with it. I get eye strain even when the display is off. I wonder if these new models fix this.
Do these ones have a seam on the right earclip near the back? My original airs came apart there and I got them replaced and the replacement pair did the same thing. I love the glasses but that is frustrating.
I wonder if the wider FoV of the Pro has a big impact oto the quality... I imagine they did not go with the 4K option which Sonyy offers because of the massive price hike...?
Hey Norm, can you comment on the glare and edge to edge clarity of the ONEs you tried? I currently have the Air 2 Pros, which I had hoped would work as a portable monitor replacement, but found there was just too much glare / ghosting on text, which gets worse along with chromatic aberration, blurriness etc, at the edges of the lenses. Still love using them with my steam deck though! I'd love to go full Johnny Mnemonic, but I literally watched this video and am typing this using the Air 2 Pros on a new Mac Mini while I impatiently wait for a monitor to come in the mail due to the above issues.
I've been quite intrigued about this brand of glasses for a while, but these seem the most convenient to use so far. Couple of quick questions. If you lock the view so your screen stays in one position, can you use them lying down, looking up at the ceiling? Second question, does the glasses UI have any accessibility features, specifically narration, text to speech/screen reader? Or is everything purely visual menus and navigation? Thanks.
Yes, you can anchor at the ceiling or any angle-it’ll stay anchored based on where the screen was last moved during Follow mode. Unfortunately, no narration for menus :/
Orion watch out there's a new kid on the block! Can you do AR on this or is it just a couple of screens to watch movies on? I guess you would need cameras in it to do A.R to sense the space.....just interested what is possible. Things are getting exciting in this area for sure.
If you do more coverage of these - maybe include an explanation of what on earth "birdbath optics" are? (I've found a few that are too deeply obscure, and you'll have appropriate props in front of you...)
So this is just projecting the screen to your glasses. What about AR for everyday task similar to EDITH? About the same price as this which is about $500 which is a good entry-level point
Will the new ONE glasses require the use of the Beam Pro? Is there any benefit to having the Beam pro attached to the ONE glasses? Are these a replacement for the Air Ultra? 3Dof seems like a downgrade from 6Dof of the ultra. Can't wait for a more in-depth review...
No, all of xreals glases can work standalone. The Ones can do 3dof on their own, wile the other glases need need a beam or device running nebula to have that. And no these are not a replacement for the ultras. The ultras are a dev kit and are not ment for consumers, the 6dof on them only works with the beam pro and is not well supported.
Just ordered the Air 2 pros and both beam and beam pro, now I find out they are releasing a newer version? Frustrating and looking for reassurance that my purchase was worth it at this point if improvements are so easily made.
@@tatted90 well I just bought a steam deck so I was mainly going to use it for gaming and entertainment usage on the go etc like make use of the micro sd port of the beam pro for movies but just the viewing utilities of the beam are for my steam deck so I can play with fixed position. I am also thinking I’d prefer the buttons on the beam for functionality.
The Beam Pro is one of the best 3D cameras currently available. "Spatial" photography and video can be a lot of fun, and the Beam Pro is also one of the best ways to view stereoscopic content. Really a different category of product from the Beam One glasses.
Would it be possible for xreal to create ios control centre toggles or some kinda of siri shortcuts for the display modes to complement the physical button inputs of the glasses? Also can the glasses still show your content if you lock your phone?
i bet the X1 chip could support those kind of inputs, but whether they'll be developed is uncertain. less likely, given pace of software updates. glasses can't show content if phone is locked using standard mirroring mode. that's why nebula OS with Beam Pro still makes sense.
@ i wonder what battery life they could achieve if they made these wireless like the meta orion considering they don't have as many sensors and as much computing in them
Battery life? VRR? I see that it's capable of 120Hz, but is is capable of VRR to improve use with a Steam Deck or the ASUS ROG Ally at those lower framerates? Thanks! Very good video.
@@tested Do they have an internal battery or are they powered by the device? That would seem to be problem for something like the Ally with it's weak battery life.
I would love to see some research on "frame extrapolation" techniques, like Intel ExtraSS, focusing on devices like this. After reading the research papers in details, it got me wondering what could be achieved if the graphics engine could send not just color frames to the display, but also the depth and optical flow data. This way, the display could also handle further adjustments to the scene without a full round-trip of sensor data + rendering + frame transmission. Although it's not a solution for low framerates, it could deal with small inter-frame movements and even correction of distortions when combined with eye tracking.
And as a sidenode, I think people underestimated ExtraSS a lot. Most comments were limited to comparisons with available frame-interpolation techniques like DLSS and FSR, but the research is not limited to give better fps to games -- and maybe for this reason people didn't gave the deserved attention xD
Are the lenses on the one pro still in the 45 degree angle or are they flat? In some parts of the video it looked like if they were completely flat. I really do like my air 2s but using them in sunlight is sometimes a reflection party and reduces the amazingness of them a bit.
What's the power consumption? Being smaller than a steam deck display I would assume it should consume less but that processing and the lenses inefficiencies take some power.
Adam, a good video, thank you. The one thing I'm after is the ability to display my camera settings and what being video but also see what's going on in my real environment. I have an earlier pair of these glasses and whilst it shows what the video camera sees, I can't actually see where I'm walking because everything is blanked out and it's only the camera view. When they bring out a version where I can display my camera, and I can see the real world, then I'm in to buy another pair.
@@dorian6021 Apologies on the name Norm. My question was not very clear, another apology. I have the Air2 Pro and wanted to plug them into my Sony Camera, which works but I want to be able to see as I walk, not just see the camera interface and not much else, it means it's mot augmented but a screen that prevents me i nteracting with whats around me. I hope that makes a littl;e bit more sense.
Hey Norm! Great video, and I actually do have a request to test these glasses (or previous XReal glasses) in a somewhat unique way: Would you be willing to try the side-by-side (SBS) 3D capability of these glasses combined with the 3DoF headtracking to see how they would work with cockpit-style games like Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen? Extra credit: hack together LED 6DoF head tracking using free options (oooor simply use an off-the-shelf product like TrackIR, if you already own it) + the aforementioned SBS 3D of these glasses for cockpit-style games. I know everyone will say to just get some VR goggles, but as a parent I think I'd actually prefer to not be as closed off from my surroundings. Plus I could easily see my peripherals like my mouse, keyboard, flightstick, throttle, and secondary input devices. I know it sounds silly, but I think it could make for a really unique and compelling option for XReal owners who enjoy these types of games. Thank you!
So, is this an opaque view or a translucent screen...? What I'm looking for is, I guess, "true AR". I tend to think with my feet - I get my best ideas for writing while I'm walking. The problem is that I also have ADHD, which means I tend to forget those ideas by the time I find somewhere to sit down and write them down! The Idea I had was to have a semi-transparent screen to enable me to walk around without hitting a lamppost, while using a Tap Strap on my thigh to type - so that I can come up with an idea, and have a basic outline typed up for later editing by the time I reach my destination. Ideally, I'd have these incorporated into an all-day-wear pair of prescription glasses, and a camera and bone-conduction audio in the temples would be some great bonuses as well. Wireless capability and Android compatibility would also be necessary (I'd take a drop in screen resolution in exchange for Bluetooth, since I wouldn't have to see every pixel so long as I could read the text). Every pair of "smartglasses" I see seems to imply most if not all of these features, but when you dig into the specs (no pun intended!), they always disappoint. It feels like we should be able to produce wireless (if limited-resolution) semi-transparent screen mirroring and bone-conduction audio (as opposed to narrowband directed sound projection, which doesn't give the same level of privacy) in a frame which will accept prescription lenses with our current technologies - it's just that nobody seems to want to make them...
If I use these with a laptop in the laptop has a higher resolution can that higher resolution display inside the glasses or does it force it to go to 1080? I know the glasses are capped at 1080p but you can still see the the higher quality in video games and have more windows open
nah it treats the glasses like an external 1080p monitor that you can mirror or extend from your laptop. supersampling would be the way to go in games.
Are they HDCP compatible? It sounds like they are since you're talking about watching movies, but that's still not explicitly listed with product information on their website.
The approach is so strange to me.. since i am a glasses wearer, I wouldn't want to carry additional display glasses around when i want to use them, i would just prefer to wear them all day as my prescription glasses. The design also looks very front heavy, which adds to them being problematic for daily use. I've tried on a pair of the current Meta Ray bans and could see myself wearing those all day, but im going to wait for the rumored next pair that comes equipped with a single display
I'm interested in the xreal eye, i wonder how much that camera will cost and how long it might take until they release that. I want to use them when riding my Onewheel
@tested It would be a little bit better of a perspective in the middle vs the side. Also, I have a Viture XR Pro and recently Viture just released the Neckband Pro pre-order. I don't know if you guys are able to get in touch with them and maybe get a reviewer model but that would be appreciated if you could review them.

Even within the ~100x100° FOVs of current headsets, though, 8K is lower than the human eye can perceive. We'll also need framerates of up to 1,000Hz.
Can they support multi-window yet? i.e. have 2 screens from my Windows device floating in space
Just wondering whether they have any potential for a virtual desktop workspace - to feel like you're working from a large desk, when you're actually in a small space like on a plane
They do actually support 32:9, which should work like 2 normal 16:9 screens. However, 50° FOV can't display it in full, you'll have to turn your head around
@simonwang4058 that's good to know, thanks!
xreal company is on the right track. All the components of virtual reality glasses are placed inside a device. No other accessories are needed. It will be even better if in the future they put hands on tracking glasses for xreal eye which is attached.
I owned the Viture One Pro, the one problem that I had that made these a deal breaker is that I couldn't get the entire image in my sight the view box would be cut off on the top or the bottom always no matter how I positioned the glasses. This technology is just not ready yet . Save your money.
We need more FOV like 100 degrees vs the current 45 max we get with these AR glasses
getting even to 60-70 is going to be really important.
@@tested the 57 of that in the upcoming one pro is so close already
@@NigraXXLyeah but I think if they go with wider FoV they really need to consider the 4k panels from Sony instead of the FHD. And that will massively increase the price. I wonder if it wasn't better to differentiate the non pro and pro more. Like non pro: FHD FoV 60 and 4k FoV 90+ the price tag of the pros could be close to 1000 instead of 500 then
Very helpful. You addressed so many of the questions I've had. I wonder, have you looked at the Visor by Immersed?
Hi Norm, thanks for video. How hot does it get with the chip in the glasses? It gets really warm with the beam and beam pro.
in anchor mode, are you able to easily read text on a pdf file?
Yes the xreal displays looks fine for text even in the current generation.
Can you do a comparison between these and the viture pro xr glasses when you get the chance since those are their main competitors.
What an amazing innovation and motivation to create a product that will dominate a saturated industry of VR and AR arms race. So excited for this future.
does it only have follow mode or will there be the picture by picture mode? that mode is gone from the beam pro, despite being the most useful on using it as a day to day display
edit, ah yeah it exist now thats great. maybe i should start selling my Air2 pro and beam
It's back!
Side View is back!
Not Available in Canada 😥
How is the text clarity on the one pros? Seriously considering these for productivity, but currently the air 1s I currently have are rough for text clarity
Huh - I have used them for whole work days without issue. Not sure how much clearer they could be without increasing the resolution. The brightness specs seem to be higher on the new ones, so that might help?
Thanks for the review, loved it. Is there a cap that can be put in when the camera is not attached? Also, is camera plug and play for PC/mobile? Does it have USBC adapter?
unfortunately, no/no/no
Very informative - thanks. I'm unclear what the advantage the Pro's extra 7º field of view is when we're still limited to an HD pixel count from the display. Isn't the effective pixel per degree resolution reduced accordingly while we have to turn our heads even more to view segments of the "ultra-wide" screen?
Thanks, Norm because I just saw that this was out and knew nothing about it so this comes in handy because I already have the 2+
Thanks, Chi, I can tell you’re about to take more money from me right after I just got the beam pro and the XReal 2 two glasses. I guess I’m gonna have to give the 2 setup to some random kid for Christmas.
I’ll throw it in a box and send it to Nigeria, in care of random child technologist
Chi you’re not believable, unless you’re wearing a product that you’ve designed that also corrects your vision automatically. Get it done. Lol
What are you wearing old-fashioned glasses for your stigmatism? That is so passé.
Steve Jobs may not be here anymore, but I still am and since I don’t work for any particular company, I can yell at all of you
15:20 that distance between the glass and the face looks goofy
The Goovis G3 Max seems to me to be superior in every way! But let's wait for the XREAL One Pro 😊🙏 (Let's see if the PRO version the display will be much closer to the eyes because for the moment these glasses are not there yet.)
lmao. Those are a $1200 bulky video-viewing full headset. Not really a comparison. I can say Apple Vision Pro is far superior to these...but that doesnt mean anything.
They look like a prison compared to the xreal one
@TristanWegner-mw3id It's an AR headset
@theone76419 Sure but compared to them the xreal looks like holiday meaning way more pleasant
The One Pro is a substantial increase in clarity and FOV.
I just checked xreal's website and the ONE pro is $599. but they offer a bundle with the beam pro. I thought the x1 chip replaces that altogether. What is going on
One pro doesn't need the beam maybe u selected the air version check that but x1 chip is like the beam
Looking forward to trying these out at ces next month
You're in for a treat at CES! 😎
Only thing Im waiting for in this technology to develop is the resolution...
crazy that magic leap essentially died while nreal continued to grow. great work nreal team. i'd love to see a more cyberpunk looking frame option. the rayban looking frame look awkward in my opinion
I actually still use nreal glasses and still love them. Although I want a new pair of these and the beam pro.
Should I buy the ones or wait for the pros should I buy everything I see or wait for something else lol
I actually really love these types of glasses I use them at home in bed and on trips.
Great video! Would you happen to know if the blackout shades from the air fits on this new XREAL one?
just checked--they do not fit.
I actually wasn't expecting them to improve their product in this way. Right after lenovo and a couple others released their own copy cat option.
Especially because the idea of the beam pro was so backwards.
I'm selling q3 after the release of pro. These are really useful.
Pretty transparent in my opinion, I absolutely love the dimming feature
I have the nreal air which gives me bad eye strain. Its one of the main reasons I didnt stick with it. I get eye strain even when the display is off. I wonder if these new models fix this.
Do these ones have a seam on the right earclip near the back? My original airs came apart there and I got them replaced and the replacement pair did the same thing. I love the glasses but that is frustrating.
I'm quite happy with the 46° fov of my xreal airs but it's not great so I'm hoping 57° is enough. Same screen size on the the bigger fov.
I'd love to go full Johnny Mnemonic, but I literally watched this video and am typing this using the Air 2 Pros on a new Mac Mini while I impatiently wait for a monitor to come in the mail due to the above issues.
no ghosting or blurriness on the edge with the Ones.
80 FOV would be amazing (how far off is that from what you get in regular glasses?
I work with CAD day to day. Can this replace my monitor or will I get eye fatigue? Also, can it show my CAD model in 3D?
Does anyone know of any discount codes for the One Pro/Beam Pro Bundle?
So this is just projecting the screen to your glasses. What about AR for everyday task similar to EDITH?
About the same price as this which is about $500 which is a good entry-level point
How has Linus not got his hands on one of these yet?
When do the pros release? Is it approximately January February or more like March April?
So glad I returned the air pro 2 a couple months back, id have been pissed if I kept it and run into this now
Just ordered the Air 2 pros and both beam and beam pro, now I find out they are releasing a newer version? Frustrating and looking for reassurance that my purchase was worth it at this point if improvements are so easily made.
I would keep the glasses if you can. And return the beam/beam pro. Depends on your usage and what you see yourself using these for
Return them!
I would return the beam and Air 2 for now
The Beam Pro is one of the best 3D cameras currently available.
No VRR as far as I could tell
@@srfeger powered by device there is no battery inside the glasses thats why they weight only 80g
What is your ipd? Quite relevant?it's been a major flaw on previous models that medium wide ipd was not supported
Are the lenses on the one pro still in the 45 degree angle or are they flat? In some parts of the video it looked like if they were completely flat.
I really do like my air 2s but using them in sunlight is sometimes a reflection party and reduces the amazingness of them a bit.
flat, meaning parallel to your eye plane. the angled beam spliter is embeded in the prism.
What's the power consumption? Being smaller than a steam deck display I would assume it should consume less but that processing and the lenses inefficiencies take some power.
still around 1.5 watts. even with brighter screen and X1 chip, they said the One draws about the same power as Air 2
Adam?
@@dorian6021 He connected glasses to a camera and used the glasses as a viewfinder.
Does plugging the One Pro into the Beam pro enhance picture or dof quality?
With the updated Beam Pro and Nebula OS software released this week, the One does enhace the 3DoF stability!
Hey Norm! Great video, and I actually do have a request to test these glasses (or previous XReal glasses) in a somewhat unique way:
Would you be willing to try the side-by-side (SBS) 3D capability of these glasses combined with the 3DoF headtracking to see how they would work with cockpit-style games like Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen?
Thank you!
SBS in Anchor mode should work-I’ll test it in the review!
@tested Hot diggity daffodil, THANK YOU! 😊
Tyriel Wood just did this
Ultrawide on the One Pro? How much is the cut off?
I wish they would have a trade up option from my xteal Airs.
That steamdeck is uncomfortably close to the edge
will device be loaded while connected to macbook or ipad
Thanks Norm. How is the 3D mode when using either X Beam Pro or or a standard phone showing SBS photos and videos?
Still nostalgic for Projections
What model has the cameras? Can the cameras record in 3D stereo?
Would this work with a linux PC with only hdmi out?
If I use these with a laptop in the laptop has a higher resolution can that higher resolution display inside the glasses or does it force it to go to 1080? I know the glasses are capped at 1080p but you can still see the the higher quality in video games and have more windows open
nah it treats the glasses like an external 1080p monitor that you can mirror or extend from your laptop. supersampling would be the way to go in games.
0:42 which pair is that with the cameras ?
Those are the Xreal Air 2 Ultras, a more expensive developer unit with 6DoF tracking and hand tracking
Yes, but worse optics and a five-degree narrower FOV. I wonder if there will be a One Ultra.
the prescription lens is needed for see the screen? or just for "passing throgh"
only if you need corrective glasses normally, to see the virtual display clearly
Are they HDCP compatible? It sounds like they are since you're talking about watching movies, but that's still not explicitly listed with product information on their website.
I remove DRM from all my content, so HDCP compliance is irrelevant to me.
I use xreal one walking my dog multiple times a day and it's honestly really great for that.
Hi! Is this going to be an HDCP compliant device?
So would anyone know the reason xreal won't ship to Canada?
What kind of of glasses is the Xreal Sales Man wearing? Is that Akoni?
How much will the xreal one pro cost?
The approach is so strange to me.. since i am a glasses wearer, I wouldn't want to carry additional display glasses around when i want to use them, i would just prefer to wear them all day as my prescription glasses.
The design also looks very front heavy, which adds to them being problematic for daily use.
I've tried on a pair of the current Meta Ray bans and could see myself wearing those all day, but im going to wait for the rumored next pair that comes equipped with a single display
I'm interested in the xreal eye, i wonder how much that camera will cost and how long it might take until they release that. I want to use them when riding my Onewheel
the centered camera makes a lot of sense for action compared to the offset camera of the ray-ban metas
