The elephant scene was just…unnerving. Like Christ almighty. The music, the parents not giving a fuck, the elephants limbs ripping, all masked over it being a stuffed animal and a game.
it's not masked, they are atuffed animals. The game tells you multiple times it's just a fucking trip they are having in their heads. This scene is just made to show that at this state they are so worry about their own things and their own lifes they kinda forget how they can be making their child feel.
Someone needs to edit some gore in that scene to make it more cursed

You know something's so messed up that even Crackhead Mykull finds it disturbing. Also the fact that killing the Elephant does nothing is reaaally messed up. They basically just murdered their child's favorite toy and bathe in her tears.
It's basically a metaphor for their divorce. Their problem (their deteriorating relationship/being stuck as dolls) is something that requires hard work, cooperation, and trying to understand each other and reflecting on the mistakes they made. Instead, however, they try to take what looks like the easy option (divorce/making their daughter cry), failing to understand how and why they got to this point and hurting their daughter in the process, but being too focused on themselves to see it.
(Sometimes divorce can be the right option, but in this particular case it's clear that their relationship could have been improved, but both of them were too self-centered to try. Which admittedly is itself an argument in favor of the two of them getting out of each other's lives, except for the matter of Rose; not only is the divorce hurting her because of course a child will be devastated by her parents breaking up, but the same problems messing up their relationship are also affecting their parenting and causing them to fail Rose in other ways, something that won't be fixed by the two of them just getting away from each other.)

No it doesn't. In GTA5 I don't know if you remember but Trevor is baging the girlfriend of a guy, the guy just asks Trevor to stop banging her girlfriend because he loves her and Trevor smashes his brains with his boot, starts talking to the boot like it's him even thow he is already death and then takes a piece of the left out brain in his boot and throws it away. And then there's the interrogation scene where Trevor does water boarding, he takes out theeths, he smashes his knee and his genitals for interrogation and after that he just let's him go but says to him to go away on a plane and never come back.

Seeing them just play and get along so well together is so wholesome

I've played and seen some fucked up games in my life but watching a stuffed elephant being brutally murdered was the thing to actually emotionally fucked me up.

It seems like a majority of the comments are brushing past the fact that this game made the two players: Rip off a leg of a living creature whilst dragging it to a cliff, then rip off its ear, and lastly, throw it off a high building to plummet to its death...Their goal for this was to make their daughter cry to help their condition, but nothing got fixed. 😂 wtf is this game. Got me left in shock for the past 2m 😂
Yeah, the fact that they were so happy when bathing in her tears shows just how out of touch they are with their humanity. Like, fuck, can’t you be even the smallest bit remorseful? And, as far as I know, they never really address the fact that their parental neglect almost fucked up their kid’s life, like she legit thought her being gone would made the two of them happier. The story was too focused on the divorce bit, they neglected to address the neglect their daughter went through.
Not go lie just kinda skipped past all that shit. Have to be asleep in a few and don't want the screams of a maimed elephant giving me night terrors.
They fix the elephant in the end if you watch the credits.

BRO the final moments with the elephant has been singed into my head forever, even after the happy ending I still think the parents need to go to jail for murder.
Just wanna say that I hope Lily doesn't feel pressured/forced to finish It Takes Two because of us, what makes your playthrough a joy to watch is how it becomes an outlet for you guys to have fun together. If it becomes a burden or an obligation, I think some of the magic would be lost anyway. Do it on your own pace, and I hope we don't sour the experience.
