Short explanation: Brodin is in an infinite time cycle that can only be broken if he goes back in time and makes sure he gets rid of Helen so that Past Brodin lives and isnt trapped inside the rectum.
But if one Brodin doesn’t catch Helen, then there will only be one Brodin trapped in time and the other future Brodins will survive.
But present holds a grudge against Helen and will hunt her down anyhow. So the only two options are if Helen holds onto us or we dispose Helen off or brodin has a change of heart( highly unlikely).

I do think she have a reason tho. I read it somewhere that Six did that because she saw the Thin Man face and she realized that it's Mono when he grew up so she let go of his hand so that Mono didn't turn into the Thin Man but what she doesn't know was that her decision was what make him be the Thin Man.

My theory is that six is just evil and also when she was being taken away by the thin man, mono was just hiding under the bed and didnt help her so it feels like she was taking revenge which solidifies she is evil even though you tried to save her.

They said that Six hiding place was actually good enough but Mono remembered where she was hiding that's why the Thin Man knew where she was and if you look at every time you failed to run from the Thin Man, the Thin Man just capture you and the scene ended which is not like with the other monsters , when they catch you they'll kill you. But this is just something that someone told me about, I don't know if it's true or not so your theory can be true as well because I can't say anything about the reason Thin Man exist even before Six let go of Mono.

But what Michael thinks this game is about, i think he's right. Childhood. As we grow up (from room to room) we also start to lose our innocence and become more aware of the world. I think breaking the music box means that a child realize this at a very young age. hence Helen's betrayal to the protagonist. And that same thing happened to the protagonist as he sits on that chair reflecting on his childhood.

For the end of the game here, remember how Six (Hellen "Blueberry" Keller) got swooshed away by the Thin man (Brodin, the child of Samara and Slender) and it left behind one of those static shadows? For those wondering what happened at the end, essentially Six realized she didn't want her new friend to die. In the secret ending, she becomes hungry like she did in the last game, which causes her to eat the nearest bit of meat- even if its still alive. Six knew she would eventually eat him if they stuck together, and let him go so he didn't die.
