You should DEFINITELY react to “Vägen till stridspilot” (en: ”The road to fighter jet pilot”). It’s another TH-cam series like this one from the Swedish Armed Forces about the training and education of fighter jet pilots. It’s just as well-produced as this series, and highlights a very different but equally interesting military lifestyle. If you like the Jägarsoldat series, you will definitely enjoy this one as well.
MUCK means "Militär Utryckning i Civila Kläder", translates to something like Military discharge in civilian clothes. But are also used when you're freed from prison, so it originates from the romani word Mukk which means "free" or "freedom".
Yes, that idea that it is an acronym for Military Discharge, Civilian Clothes is a myth. It is Romani, as you say. But there was a record in every jukebox in every military installation that kept repeating this myth, with the song Muckartwist. The MUCK Twist? th-cam.com/video/-NFd7DlKyMA/w-d-xo.html
He did say 7 km but I think he's not talking about the full distance, only that their lace has slowed down so much they only covered 7 km in the last four stretches. Earlier in the clip they said the first mile went well, this is 10 km...so they had probably walked at least 17 km,probably more. Not sure how far they walk in total, but I do remember this was a living hell, we also did it under a hot summer sun
Nah, i think they meant 7km x 4. Aka 28km but divided over 4 marches. So basically they walked 7km, had a break, walked 7 again, had a short brake and so on. Atleast that makes most sense to me.
38 recruits got a Continuous employee, 14 recruits a Temporary employee and 4 left the armed forces. So pretty good results that the armed forces got to keep a bunch of the good men and the lady 👍
The soldier in the wheelchair got the jaeger badge eventually, most likely because he was inside the ancient defensive wall that goes around the fort/base when he collapsed, even if he didn’t run up to the “welcome committee”. He was inside the wall.
Really good series! Really good react. Balanced, knowledgeable and intelligent. Had to see it in its entirety even though I’ve seen most episodes before. Also, as Swedish ex-military, i feel proud over the young recruits, the way they put in the hard work, but also How they team up, and the way they resonate about themselves and their struggles. F ing mature really. Finally gotta give extra cred to Josefine, even though she claimed to not think about being a woman among all the men, it certainly had some impact. Carrying that Big Bergen probably was 1,5x her bodyweight. Just a total beast!
Hello! I think you should watch the 17 episode series on "the path to fighter pilot", from the Swedish Air Force. The Swedish fighter pilot training, from day 1 to final JAS 39 Gripen fighter pilot. Type "vägen till stridspilot" in Swedish, ("the path to fighter pilot translated into English) on TH-cam you will find all the episodes. Greetings from Sweden. 😃👍
@@Coole-ee1vg I translated directly from the Swedish title which is "Vägen till stridspilot". Vägen in Swedish means road or path. So the correct translation should then be "The Road to fighter pilot". Better than path.
From my experience from the swedish army. Women tend to be physically weaker, but way more mentally stronger (which will add on to their strenght in the end). I have been impressed by many female soldiers during my years.

In this case it's properly translated, but they have often been translating "mil" as "mile". Usually, they're talking about metric miles, i.e. 10km. Another couple of common mistranslations in this series are "kom", which means "over" when talking on the radio. Here it's usually translated as "came", which is completely off in this context. When the subs say "end came" it means "out, over". Also, when they were talking about sharpshooting it refers to live fire, ("skarpskytt" is swedish for "sharpshooter", while "skjuta skarpt" is "firing live [ammunition]"). There are lots of these small mistranslations all over the place, so you'll just have to use your imagination.
Seeing the cermony at the end I was reminded of when I was promoted to corporal (P7 Revingehed). Our major was really old-fashioned, so he was trying to keep old traditions alive. Nor everybody got it, but I was one of the ones who recieved a proper dubbing ceremony for my promotion. You know the old 'kneeling, sabre-on-shoulder' kind of promotion. It's a memory for sure.

Training for the ranger test could be a cross-country "yomp", with a 70-kilo pack, from Catterick to Barnsley South Yorkshire. (Avoid built-up areas) Follow this with an unloaded walk (10km) and a run at the end (about 10 km) within 48 hours, the first time 😜. It would be great to follow that here in your channel. I looked into your published videos and I saw you like challenges, as in your 131-mile march in 48 hours. Get cracking 🤪

I think they experimented this year 23/24 to see if they would notice any difference in performance when they called a number of people who were less "interested/motivated". What you need to know is that this regiment is an elite, maybe 2% of the armed forces. Very well motivated and prepared long before training actually starting. Still, they are a pretty standout military unit.
Yup, that's the Armed Forces Consript Medal awarded to anyone who completes military concription service (these days it might be called the Military Basic Education Medal, since not all who do basic are conscripts these days).
Hunters' marches can vary in distance, but most often they are around 90 kilometers (56 miles), but they can be both more or less. How much the pack weighs can vary also you have what you must have, but then you can also pack your own things, then there is also certain equipment such as radio etc. that does not need to be in all equipment. a minimum of 25 kg plus your weapon, but it can also weigh up to 50 kg 110.231 lb. From what I've heard, it's the fact that you're walking with such a heavy pack that makes it really tough.
Can also confirm he says 7 km. But he also said "4 marchpass" (marching sessions), so one marching session must be 7km. Which means they marched for 7km x 4 = 28 km.
During that kind of training your limits are tested and you can do so much more then you think you can do! (Am an ex Special Forces soldier my self and did get my training in a Kiruna in the most northern part of Sweden, the regiment was I22 Lapplandsjagarregemente.)
Most of them became professional, or part-time, soldiers. But even the conscripts that didn’t seek employment, they became part of the military reserve. They will be called back every four years or so for 1-4 weeks of repetitions training. If there is war in Sweden they would also be mobilized, with all other former conscripts that are not too old for their military roles.
Muck means Militär utryckning i civila kläder, so something like military deployment in civilian clothing. So it's kind of a joke name that stuck, but also a reminder that, atleast back in the days, the majority of all swedish men were trained soldiers and expected to redeploy whenever.
Former GPC REALLY ENJOYED THIS memories 1 month training in my parent Battalion 2nd Battalion Scots Guards, 1 month GPC Selection, then P Company in Aldershot yes full Respect to these guys. Keep the likes going Mucker. Utrique Paratus.
Muck (from Romani mukk, "free") is the occasion when one becomes free from compulsory service or detention, prison, military service or the like. That muck would be an abbreviation of "military discharge (in) civilian clothes" is an after-construction.
The subtitles are not really accurate. A mile in Sweden is not an imperial mile. It is 10 kilometers. So the distance covered is far longer than it seems in the video.
It's funny as a swede to read the subtitles, obviously they are AI or something. They are literal translation with no understanding of colloquialisms or anything like that. Makes it sound strange.
Knowing that these guys are now your official allies. Sweden and the UK have unofficially been allies for a very long time but now with Sweden being in Nato it is finally official.
Just a comment on the litter carriers not running it all depends on the distance. If you have an unknown distance you can't run all the way. We had to carry casualties for 5 miles (imperial) when i was in training in the US army. You cant sprint with a big guy that far.
Iam so extremely proud of ouer military and speciellt if Jägarna... But there is more units to name...parachuterangers, coastrangers, amfibierangers, diverse, attackdivers bombdivers and many many more....
MUCK; militär utryckning [i] civila kläder, approximately "Military Undeployment [in] Civilian Clothes". Basically the end of your basic military service.
Military service for men was mandatory until 2008 in Sweden... Sort of. Between 1997 and 2000 the number of recruits was doped by half. And to 2008 it was again dropped by half. In the 80s females was alowed to join conscription voluntary In 2010 it was switched to a all voluntary conscription. So in effect from that date on it was at least theoretically same rules for men and women. Even when there was full conscription typically 25-35% was rejected for service. That reaction rate increased drastically in the 00s. In the period conscription was mandatory people who for some reason or other didn´t want to handle weapons, there was specially weapons free duties for them. They are ramping up conscription considerably now and expected to hit 8000 educated this year. In the olden days everyone (well every man) had to go for basic army testing, this typically happen quite soon after you turn 18 where they do a large number of test. Now days there is a additional pre selection. First people get digitally preselected, and about 25% is filted to additional screening, then of that about 35% goes to full training. Gold is to hit the same recruitment level as in 2005, about twice that of 2018 when this documentary was recorded.
25-35% rejected? I'm surprised, I thought it was far less. My gut feeling is that almost every Swedish male born in about 1950 - 1975 once was a conscript, but I have no numbers back it up. Back in the day it was met with suspicion if you came to a job interview and said you didn't do it, when asked where you did your service. Like, "really, why? What's wrong with you?". At least, that's what my father told me, probably because he wanted at least one of his sons to be in the military for a while. 😅 (I ended up doing 12 months in the navy)
@@carlkolthoff5402 That number is for the early 90s, it was probobly steeped down a bit even than. Not only was the defense spending a bit down, but population was also up. I could not find numbers for pre year 1990, maybe they are not yet officially published. The rejected number also includes then one going into civil-service. "f you came to a job interview and said you didn't do it, when asked where you did your service" Yea, that attitude was for sure dead in the 90s.
That soldier test wasn't that hard at all and doesn't impress me. The soldier's test, or the so-called Berser test for a Lapland Ranger, was tougher when it existed and will again be the toughest test when the Lapland Ranger Regiment is resurrected. So for that beret test when you can start wearing the green beret with the wolf on it. You would then walk a total of 30 Swedish kilometers (187 miles) in mountain and forest environments. Where, among other things, you have to climb the top of the Kebnekaise mountain at 2117 meters Both in winter and summer, then go to the 6th Kilometer (3.73 miles) to take an approved shooting test. There, after marching with a combat pack and AK4 as well as the newer weapon AK5, up to the barracks and stand guard and wait for the word that they are free, to be able to go into their lodgings. Anyone who did not stand guard when the march was finished but went inside was punished by having to run up to a mountain top where an officer stood and met him and he was to be run around and back down to the barracks an extra straight march of another 30 km (18 ,64 miles) and the mountain top you had to run up was steep and from the ground below up to the top is about 300 meters. This beret sample took 6 days to complete. So you walked 5 kilometers (31 miles) per day. The backpack was never allowed to weigh less than 30 kilos.
Iam not sure if Temp or Continued emplyment changes now when Sweden joined NATO, may be more who stays in the Military. Not sure how the future is just that we are increasing the Military personal so.
We will still have K and T employed but we need more officers to fill the positions inside the NATO administration as well as having the staff to our educational units that handle the conscription training which will increase slightly. The next batch will be 10 000 men and women. I also think we will get more combat manoeuvring units that need officers, employed and conscripts. So the same structure but increased size.
Really enjoyed these reactions from you! If you want a similar series to react to you have to check out " the road to fighter pilot" (vägen till stridspilot). Same idea but it's the journey on how to become a fighter pilot in Sweden. Here is a trailer th-cam.com/video/71S-6P3XbWM/w-d-xo.html
@@Coole-ee1vg yes it is? "we have moved 7km in 4 marching sessions." 4 marching sessions" "yes." they are complaining about the pace as 7km in 4 sessions is to short. they have in total done more than that but translation is still correct.
Free translation of M.U.C.K Military Discharge Civilian Clothing. You finish your military training as a conscript and walk out the gate in civilian clothes.
A relic from the days of universal conscription and a army demobilized during peace. The MUCK is the handover from training into active, but demobilized units. You would live your civilian life, but you kept the letter with the instructions for how to meet up with your unit and gear up in case shit hit the fan.

It’s definitely done heavy weight and long distance, well done to anyone who attempts and passes.
Can also confirm he says 7 km. But he also said "4 marchpass" (marching sessions), so one marching session must be 7km. Which means they marched for 7km x 4 = 28 km.
This series was great. Nice reactions👍🏻
I can recommend The road to fighter pilot “vägen till stridspilot”!
Muck "Militär Utryckning i Civila Kläder" is "Military call-out in civilian clothes"
Thank you
Muck means Militär utryckning i civila kläder, so something like military deployment in civilian clothing. So it's kind of a joke name that stuck, but also a reminder that, atleast back in the days, the majority of all swedish men were trained soldiers and expected to redeploy whenever.
Fun fact: The M/87 uniform is also worn by the royal guards while on guard duty.
Would be nicer to wear the M90.
@@MrSurrealKarma I can see what you mean. Though, guards on patrol duty will use the M/90, while the stationary guards will use the M/87.
@@nTnz_
Yeah, the guys who were most shit at marching got to be guards in M90.
Wished I wasn't so good at rythm.
At 22.09
He doesn't weigh 104 pounds but 104 kilos which is 230 pounds.
Alexander completed the jaeger test a few months later and got the jaeger patch.
Former GPC REALLY ENJOYED THIS memories 1 month training in my parent Battalion 2nd Battalion Scots Guards, 1 month GPC Selection, then P Company in Aldershot yes full Respect to these guys. Keep the likes going Mucker. Utrique Paratus.
I think you'd also enjoy to watch "Vägen till Stridspilot" (Road to Fighterpilot) - Same type of series and really enjoyable to watch!
The rest at 9:14 was mainly due to the heat, and not a regular part of the Hunter test
Muck (from Romani mukk, "free") is the occasion when one becomes free from compulsory service or detention, prison, military service or the like. That muck would be an abbreviation of "military discharge (in) civilian clothes" is an after-construction.
Ok. Brilliant thank you
Reminds me when i did it back in 07 before they implemented the "UG" tho
The subtitles are not really accurate. A mile in Sweden is not an imperial mile. It is 10 kilometers.
So the distance covered is far longer than it seems in the video.
Thank you, makes a lot more sense then what was being translated
And 104 kilograms is not 104 pounds. It is 230 pounds. 😅
It is a lot of amateur interpreting, But the soldiers are fighting on regardless of that!
I did my GU at K3.
Part from the day i became a father that was the best part of my life! It was a pure privilege.
Nice one, absolute beast for passing
Start and finish as a team!
Muck is basically the military equivalent of graduation.
It's funny as a swede to read the subtitles, obviously they are AI or something. They are literal translation with no understanding of colloquialisms or anything like that. Makes it sound strange.
MUCK literally means Military Disarmament in Civilian Clothes
M U C K means Military Callout in Civilian Clothes.
BIG thx
Please react to Vägen till stridspilot.
Knowing that these guys are now your official allies. Sweden and the UK have unofficially been allies for a very long time but now with Sweden being in Nato it is finally official.
frågan till de som vet hur långt är ett marchpass och hur många gick dem
Just a comment on the litter carriers not running it all depends on the distance. If you have an unknown distance you can't run all the way. We had to carry casualties for 5 miles (imperial) when i was in training in the US army. You cant sprint with a big guy that far.
You need to react to “vägen till stridspilot” the road to fighter pilot it’s basically the same thing but for the air force
In the 80s females was alowed to join conscription voluntary
In 2010 it was switched to a all voluntary conscription.
(I ended up doing 12 months in the navy)
@@carlkolthoff5402
That number is for the early 90s, it was probobly steeped down a bit even than. Not only was the defense spending a bit down, but population was also up.
I could not find numbers for pre year 1990, maybe they are not yet officially published.
The rejected number also includes then one going into civil-service.
"f you came to a job interview and said you didn't do it, when asked where you did your service"
Yea, that attitude was for sure dead in the 90s.
I really enjoy your channel I just discovered it. I tried ordering coffee but you don’t ship to Canada ❤from Ottawa Ontario
Thank you for the sub. Send me a message on instagram and I will look to see if we can get coffee shipped out to Canada for you
That soldier test wasn't that hard at all and doesn't impress me.
2:25 translation is correct. 7km in 4 marching sessions.
I think he thought they were somewhere else and therefore he thought they walked less then the had. At this phase they did 4 kilometre/hour
No its not....
@@Coole-ee1vg yes it is? "we have moved 7km in 4 marching sessions." 4 marching sessions" "yes."
they are complaining about the pace as 7km in 4 sessions is to short. they have in total done more than that but translation is still correct.
no, he is misinformed...@@TheNecronomica
@@Coole-ee1vg what do you mean? i don't understand how you think the translation is wrong

They said 104 kg giant...not 104 pound.
MUCK means Militär Utryckning Civila Kläder
Military education done, back to civilian clothes MECC :)
Thank you!
MUCK = short for "Militär Utryckning Civila Kläder" don't know the english for it...
Ok brilliant thank you
for the argorithm

Muck is in sweden used when you are "released" from military service. It comes from romani "mukk", (also used when someone is released from prison)

militär utryckning civila kläder = muck military discharge civilian clothes
The translations of these are just horrid! I's like if they used google translate and went through some random sections and corrected them
Free translation of M.U.C.K Military Discharge Civilian Clothing. You finish your military training as a conscript and walk out the gate in civilian clothes.
Military Callout Civilian Clothing MUCK
A relic from the days of universal conscription and a army demobilized during peace. The MUCK is the handover from training into active, but demobilized units. You would live your civilian life, but you kept the letter with the instructions for how to meet up with your unit and gear up in case shit hit the fan.
In swedish Militär Utryckning i Civila Kläder.
5 miles ar 8km!
5 metric miles are 50km
A Swedish mil is 10km. That got wrongly translated to mile. The rest of the metric world should also start using mil.
MUCK = Military Discharge Civilian Clothing (sort of)
MUCK=militär utryckning civila kläder , military discharge Civilian clothing !
I guess the girl is an actor
