Ya -Ma -Ki like ( Ya-Ma-K-Eye ) ... not pronounced ' YaMacky ' ... it is more like Ya-Ma-Ha , ... only these are Ya-Ma-Ki . Very Nice Guitars and deserve to be pronounced correctly. These are Japanese guitars. I had asked a Japanese man how to pronounce correctly is how I learned to say it correctly also... .Ya-Ma-Ki

I bought a Yamaki Folk Deluxe (AY 331) in 1972 in Lethbridge from Liester's Music as I recall. I still have that guitar, the tuners have been replaced. Like a lot of Yamaki guitars apparently, my guitar suffers from a bulge behind the bridge although it still plays well. I have really thin strings on it and I have it tuned down a semi, trying to keep the top from bowing any more.

I have a Cherry Sunburst Buffalo Series guitar. I found it in a trash can. It is the best sounding guitar I have. Your guitar sounds excellent. These are well built guitars and rare.

I think my personal preference would be the 70s model AY386 (3rd shown)
First of all I love the looks of the guitar with the bound buffalo headstock and neck.
Most importantly though I like the sound of the instrument.A Warm bottom (giggity)
crisp mids and a sweet chiming high end. Yeah buddy.Sign me up.

Yes the sound is really really excellent. My Martin 12 string is pretty awesome as well, but a newer model of course. My other Martin a 6 string 1965 is also excellent sounding , but I don't think as good of sound as my Yamaki .

Hi, I love your demo video and I love Yamaki's. You seem to be a guy a lot like me (Canadian in Edmonton). The guitars all sound very similar in your video, which is not a bad thing. Just show's the consistency in these wonderful guitars. Good luck and regards,
    Kurt in Edmonton.

Your guitars are beautiful. I have a 1971, AY 331 Yamaki Deluxe that I have owned since it was new in 1971. It is far and away my favorite guitar to play. My Martin D35 rests in its guitar stand and this is absolutely my go to. I'm a big fan of the guitars and will watch your Chanel again.

I have an old hand-me-down Yamaki. I wasn't sure whether to keep it, but you have inspired me to restore it! They're wonderful instruments.

Too bad you forgot to mention that the YW-30 has 3 broken braces and a badly repaired neck break.

Fantastic. I have a W 118. I’m sure it’s not solid wood, but it sounds better than my 1972 Guild D35 made with solid wood. Also, my Yamaki has a steel nut and a zero fret. Plays nice.

I am stoked I just picked up a (what appears to be new) Yamaki ay341s like the last one in this video! I am unsure of a couple things though perhaps someone could help me #1 the brochures I see on the net say the ay341 is a cedar top and not spruce as the gentleman states?. and #2 the back is three piece rosewood as are the sides however I have no idea if it is solid rosewood or laminate is there a way to tell? any help is greatly appreciated thank you

What do you mean by restore? Did you replace frets etc?
I just found out about these. Are they all solid tops? Do you find there is much variety in terms of tone and play-ability?

I have an AY 371S Yamaki that was given to me many years ago. I love it. However the G string cannot be tuned because the turning key is either stripped or the small wheel is seized - not sure which. Do I have to replace the whole 3 tuners on that side as they all seem to be connected rather than individual.

That's my only complaint with Yamaki !. For such a high quality of woods (why go cheap on their tuners & bridges ?). I replaced my nut & back bridge with high quality bone & vintage style Martin tuners & love it almost as much as my Martin & it cost me a lot less !. My advice is replace your cheap tuners asap !.
