    I tried this on my boat. Couldn’t get it right then I turned on the background music and Voila, got it. Thank you.

    Lose the background music - just a distraction and detracts from the presentation. Otherwise, great video.

    If water-based pigments are added to the white, how should it be mixed? Will the paint mixer at the hardware store do it? or should it be done another way? Thanks

    Can this be used on vehicle rubber running board? Have had two bad accidents with shoes/boots slipping on the running board of my van

    • @PYIinc
      @PYIinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because rubber is an oil-based product, and KiwiGrip is a water-based non-skid, adhesion might be an issue. We recommend first applying an oil-based primer that will adhere to rubber, and once fully cured, then apply the KiwiGrip. For further assistance, feel free to contact us at info@pyiinc.com

    I have two types of nonskid that I want to repaint, one is rough like sand paper texture and the other is an embossed fiberglass surface. Can I use kiwigrip on the embossed surface as well? I'd want to keep the embossed surface and not add any texture to it.

    • @PYIinc
      @PYIinc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, KiwiGrip can be used in the embossed fiberglass. However, if there is any cracking or crazing you will want to repair that first as KiwiGrip is not a sealed paint. If there is gelcoat present on the fiberglass this will need to be sanded and dewaxed before KiwiGrip can be applied. If you are only looking to change the color of the embossed area I would add 10% water to the KiwiGrip base and roll it on with a standard 3/8" nap roller as opposed to the textured roller provided.

    Question: if applying over an old nonskid deck, will just sanding the "peaks" be enough? How do you get into the 'valleys"?

    • @PYIinc
      @PYIinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sanding the peaks will be enough if you are after a medium to aggressive texture. You may need to apply a thicker coat to hide some of the pre-existing non-skid.
      However, if you want a fine or mild texture, you will need to sand down to the valleys to get a "smooth" surface. Or apply a thick layer of KiwiGrip to fill all the valleys. Then once it's dry, go back and apply another layer of KiwiGrip and use the roller to get the desired texture. This will, of course, use a lot more of the product.

    I have a non skid sand Awlgrip painted deck over fiberglass that is old, what is the recommended preparation for this old surface? Can I paint over the non skid or should I remove it.

    Smooth will this turn out if applied with a smooth roller?

    • @PYIinc
      @PYIinc  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If applied with a smooth roller, the finish will be more of a sandpaper-like texture.

    It appears my deck was painted with less than good quality paint. Once it is removed do I need to apply an epoxy base primer like interlux primekote and a coat of Perfection, or can I skip the topcoat and apply this directly to the primer?

    • @PYIinc
      @PYIinc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can apply KiwiGrip directly on to the epoxy primer.

      @@cbiltris The diamond pattern will obviously show through. You could sand the fiberglass diamond pattern or apply the KiwiGrip very thick to cover the diamond pattern. Here's a diamond pattern with a normal layer of KiwiGrip applied onto it: instagram.com/p/BGlndRSMtR_/

    What about applying it on an existing non-skid pattern? What’s the best way to clean and sand it?

    • @PYIinc
      @PYIinc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To prepare the old nonskid to accept KiwiGrip, scrub the surface thoroughly with a rotary green pad or wire brush, making sure that all the peaks and valleys are well dulled off. Then scrub with boat soap and water, allowing the surface to dry before masking and applying KiwiGrip. KiwiGrip will typically hide old non-skid that is less than 1.5 mm in height.

    In the video it says to sand the surface to give kiwi grip something to bond to. if the floor is fiberglass will it be too smooth to bond to?
    would I have to maybe rough it up a little with sand paper?
