Welcome to the Booktube community! I’m a relatively new booktuber. I released my first video back in October 2022, and I’ve been having a terrific time on my channel even though it can be challenging at times. I love that you live on a farm. And, 5 children. Wow! I read a variety of genres; however, I am not a big romance reader (like clean romances when I do pick up one). Subscribed!
I am the slowest of slow readers. I stop and soak it in after almost every page 😂 Also a mom of 2 with a full time job. So glad you’re here! Can’t wait to see more videos. Welcome to booktube!
@@Laura_Reads me too. It’s honestly a community we need to build up! I get discouraged when I start playing the comparison game, but I don’t think I’d ever be able to keep up with anyone reading hundreds of books every year.
I’m with you on the reading slowly thing. That’s a challenge for me too. It’s super interesting to hear from someone with no collection. Quite unusual for BookTube, at least what I’ve seen of it so far. I like to use the local library too. The deadlines help me to choose reading over watching TV. 😊
I like to say I’m a deliberate reader instead of slow when I’m trying to be non-self-deprecating. lol 😆 but yes…. A slow reader; an ADHD reader who gets easily distracted and has to re-read words on the page often. Being able to listen to the audiobook with the book in hand really helps me focus, I’ve found recently. Love my local library! Not a single book I’ve wanted to read that they haven’t been able to get for me, so far! Happy reading this year! 💕📚
@@Laura_ReadsAlso an ADHD reader here. Funny you mention reading with the audiobook. I just tried that for the first time a couple of weeks ago and found it really useful. I also read with a bookmark sometimes and move it down line by line as I read.

@@TimeTravelReads thank you! I’m always careful with nonfiction, because they are often written with bias. My mom was reading a book about US Presidents for example, and it brushed over Trail of Tears-not even referring to it by name, something like “an unfortunate incident”, no joke-during the chapter about Andrew Jackson. Clearly the author wanted the reader to have a sense of pride in their country and its former leaders. I know historical fiction is also written with bias, but at least it’s clearly marked as fiction. I’ll definitely take a look at these though, and always appreciate recommendations! We never know what gems we will find unless we ask. 📚💕
@@Laura_Reads I'm careful with history too. With my American history project, my book list is now 17 pages long. My goal is to read a bunch for each time period and if I come across books I haven't already weeded out while making the list, which gloss over genocide as no big deal or things like that, make a note that I don't recommend them for that reason.
