This is super awesome. Thanks for inspiring our 6 year old boy. He loves trains. He now wants to transform our garage into something like this. Great work guys.
I think I will tear my layout up and not even bother trying anymore after lookinga t this one. Excellent track work with banked turns. Awesome grond texturing and elevation changes. The scenery is amazing. The ballast I used looks like huge rocks......
If you had nothing at the start to say this was a model train set people could easily be fooled into thinking it was real. AH those were the days when i worked on the Tasmanian Railways. it's people like you who bring back all these good memories. Now to sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the show. Thank you from an old train buff. Gary
This is INSANE!!! There were numerous parts in the video when I had to stop and ask myself "Am I still watching a Model Train Layout?" Excellent Layout!!!
This one of the greats lay outs I every seen. Looks so real in the land scape, the hills, as the train take the turn at a curl it tilts to the side. 5 stars on the this layout. It looks awesome.
I have see the Topgon cars runing down the track around where I live. The model cars are Top Quality, putting all those cars on that outstanding layout was just too cool. I really liked seeing them snake around the turns and bridges. I have to get me some of these.
I am speechless. Beautiful layout. You have done an awesome job. Will watch this vid over and over for sure. I cannot see anything in the video that did not look realistic. Phenomenal job!!! Thanks for sharing.
It's awesome to see a video with good quality. It's even better to see such detailed models of trains that run about a half mile away. I never see any NS models, usually Santa Fe or BNSF.
Modern American Railways captured superbly in HO Scale. Being involved in N Scale for a long time down here in Australia this is the excellence I work towards. Congratulations
Awesome video of a tremendous great layout. I like the way you outbalanced the curves, the prototypical speed of the train (superb in slow modus!) and the tranquil, non-distracting impression of the environment around the track. Chapeau, guys!
Great video! I am proud that Paul used our decals exclusively on those two Dash 9's! Thanks, Richard D. Shell, ShellScale Decals. ( I have the BLMA Top Gons in N Scale)
One of the best layouts i have seen in the US. looks very realistic. if you like trains have a peek at Miniature Wunderland in Hamburg Germany, to me that is the most awesome exhebition of model RR'ds.
Fantastic Video... I had to remind myself from time to time that this is a model train layout.. Great recording and great work on the layout...Thanks for sharing ! !
Now that is simply one "Bad-Ass" layout you guys got there! Very impressive and the details are outstanding. I'm getting ready to start my layout in my 2-car garage, now my new train house that has an interior dimension of 18 feet wide by 24 feet deep. I've just finished the track-plans with all the walk-thru isles and a few lift-outs which is all done in HO scale running BN & BNSF both. If I can get mine to look half as good as what you guys have built here, I'll be one happy model railroader. Very cool guys, thanks for sharing!
I have seen a number of train layouts, but I will say that you guys are on my list as the "elite". This is the very best layout I have seen period. In fact the layout is so great that I wrote this after 5:45 on your clip. Enough Said...
@htc6600 Both DASH-9 models are Athearn's models with tuned stock drives and super detailed. Sound decoder is custom file Loksound. LED's for the lights.
VERY REALISTIC. I fast-forwarded to 1:03 and showed kids this video. They thought it was a real train until one of them noticed that... hey, those pigs look fake! Good sounds and some good camera work for the first part.
Simply put, it's a two car garage and another 1.5 rooms; however, the layout has hidden staging, a reverse loop, helix, etc., so the actual run time is longer than it would appear. This video shows only a small portion of the layout - we tried to only show the completed sections...
Those are some absolutely beautiful cars...I have about 12 (don't need many as I other NS/Conrail Quality Cars and they look so good when they are weathered down and looking at their finest! If you are a "Detail Freak" as I am...try snipping some very small orange/yellow reflect strips diagonally on each of the cars for that reflective nighttime effect! These cars take wethering very, very well! Bravo on the locomotives too!
Sweeet!! Im sur people was a bit upset wen they took over the famous PRR... but soon as we caught sight of the "Iron Horse" logo it's been all smiles ever since!!! =D The rearing stallion logo is wat puts this as my Top Favorite RR corporation of all the corporations! Thankfully out of all the bad news of recent brain seizures an medical troubles... it puts me right in town where NS comes through pretty much every hour, just down the street!! I Luv to see the ole' "Iron Horse" come through =)
I'm almost afraid to say this, but how would you guys feel about doing these in O scale? I have a bunch of Lionel NS bathtub gondolas, which are nice models, but I just feel like the train isn't complete without TopGons, and I'm sure the current O scale manufacturers won't be making them any time soon.
I have a pair of ES44AC locos in the GE 2010 Evolution Hybrid theme, both equipped with DCC, led lights, sounds, etc and very detailed. of course i have the test cars to go with them but I hardly ever run them on the layout since they are considered very collectible and rare. My layout is based of the KCS Shreveport line for the most part and it has gotten to a point where it is hard to manage. I can run up to 8 trains at one time but like I said its hard to manage that many to keep from having a collision. I have cheap trains i can do crashs with but i don't dare use my high dollar ones. Road names I have are KCS (original white, grey and black red and yellow), BNSF (traditional paint and executive schemes). Union Pacific, NS, Southern Pacific, TMF, and Mo-Pac in heritage scheme. As a management fix I am designing a system and software for the block signalling I have to control each train accordingly. if a red light is for a train the train will stop until it goes green, etc.
Great layout! I currently reside in Norfolk, and I can attest to the fact that your locomotives and TopGon coal cars are miniature replicas of the trains that rumble along the tracks around these parts. Well done.
This is super awesome. Thanks for inspiring our 6 year old boy. He loves trains. He now wants to transform our garage into something like this. Great work guys.

I love the details that were put into the NS Dash 9's - right down to the operating ditch lights.
This is INSANE!!! There were numerous parts in the video when I had to stop and ask myself "Am I still watching a Model Train Layout?" Excellent Layout!!!

This video screams excellence.
Great models, layout, and of course the NS top gon hoppers!
An amazing layout will always complemtent your excelent cars! Great Work.
Love those large radius turns, adds to the realism.
this is probably the best layout i have ever seen!!! W0W... GREAT JOB!!!
I am speechless. Beautiful layout. You have done an awesome job. Will watch this vid over and over for sure. I cannot see anything in the video that did not look realistic. Phenomenal job!!! Thanks for sharing.
BOY those D9Ws look Good!! So does the entire layout. Nice touch with the mooners too!
It's awesome to see a video with good quality. It's even better to see such detailed models of trains that run about a half mile away. I never see any NS models, usually Santa Fe or BNSF.
I haven't even gone halfway through this video and I already give it 10 out of 5 stars. SUPERB and FLAWLESS!! Nice job!!
Modern American Railways captured superbly in HO Scale. Being involved in N Scale for a long time down here in Australia this is the excellence I work towards.
Congratulations

I enjoyed it for sure, me and my dad are working on a model train layout, but thanks for giving me more confidence too!
wow thats an awesome layout! That sound decoder on that dash-9 is so realistic!
who gives a toss if PODS wernt out in this era, this layout is BRILLIANT, well done.
This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen
What an awesome layout. The level of craftsmanship is top-notch, as good as it gets, 100% pro.
what a layout and the "mooners" by the water. awesome
Great video! I am proud that Paul used our decals exclusively on those two Dash 9's! Thanks, Richard D. Shell, ShellScale Decals. ( I have the BLMA Top Gons in N Scale)
The detail is CRAZY good
Fantastic job guys, I specialy like the speed of the train , its very realistic.
Thumbs up!!! Thanks for posting.
Outstanding modelling guys.

Greetings from Germany !
Great Work Paul & Tim !!
Awsome work on this layout!!!
VERY nice layout! Just got to get those cars weathered!
The only thing missing are the exhaust hamerheads above the stacks! Love the camera work too. What a great video.
@htc6600 Both DASH-9 models are Athearn's models with tuned stock drives and super detailed. Sound decoder is custom file Loksound. LED's for the lights.
U did an extrodonary job on that!! U are very talented
Awesome layout. You done a great job
In the beginning the trains look so real!
This is by far my favorite video on youtube, Great work both BLMA and Details West, and Tim Dickinson, simply amazing!

We ran 36 TopGons. These were the first 36 TopGon's we released in July, 2009. The second run of 24 NEW numbers is coming in December, 2009.
VERY REALISTIC. I fast-forwarded to 1:03 and showed kids this video. They thought it was a real train until one of them noticed that... hey, those pigs look fake! Good sounds and some good camera work for the first part.
Super nice! The venetian blinds were a little distracting, but hey, I understand! Super cool signals. Everything just great all around.
WOW! His C40-9w's look sooo real!
wow that layout is amazing
that is a fantastic layout has given me many ideas.
Extremely great layout!!

Exactly. Tim's layout is definitely Burlington Northern based...
Hence our note at: 9:27
More videos coming soon!
This is a layout that would be good to see and read about in MRH magazine.
Extremely Amazing!
Great layout, great locomotives, and sound! The string of TopGons look fantastic with those NS units.
Those are some absolutely beautiful cars...I have about 12 (don't need many as I other NS/Conrail Quality Cars and they look so good when they are weathered down and looking at their finest! Nice layout ! Greetings from the Netherlands.
@TheHockeystar98 yes, most tracks have it to keep the train from getting top-heavy while going around sharp turns
The amount of work in this layout is crazy. Great job guys!
Awesome layout!
Trackplan, curve radii landscape - perfect!
bloody awesome. love the tilting track
That is a beautiful layout. Need to weather those top gons though. I live in an area where i see them all the time, but they looked great
Excellent Video to, you guys put some really nice video together with some really nice models. Thanks so much for sharing! Hope to see more very soon!
I'm almost afraid to say this, but how would you guys feel about doing these in O scale? Wonderful train layout, very enjoyable to see! Thank you for sharing!

whoever edited the video is a new found glory fan

I love the FRED at the end of the train

Quite a banked curve, very nice.
That is truely an amazing layout. The engines had great sound and looked really great too. Perhaps I need to have some of those NS coal hoppers.
Nice work...very nice.
Man that is sweet. I need those guys to come over and help get me started. I just need some help cleaning out the garage so I have room. :)
