- Joined by our amazing hosts Ashish and Navin we embarked on a memorable vegetarian breakfast tour in Kolkata post Durga Puja.
Venturing into the historic lanes of Northern and Central Kolkata, we indulged in an array of local-favourite breakfast items. The sojourn led us to some oldest establishments and a hidden gem.
The first stop was Adi Haridas Modak famous for kochuri and cholar dal. The crispy kochuri, filled with aromatic spiced lentils, perfectly complements the sweet and savory notes of the cholar dal. It a must-try dish in this part of the city especially for breakfast.
Next stop was the National Economic House. It is an age-old establishment cherished by locals and frequented by nationalists. We indulged in a nostalgic experience over jelly toast and lebu cha. The jelly toast, with its comforting sweetness, paired exquisitely with the invigorating tanginess of the lebu cha.
After this we had mishti doi at Amrit. Its creamy texture and perfect balance of sweetness truly captured the essence of this traditional Bengali desserts. Served in earthenware, it had a beautiful presentation that added to the authenticity.
Then we reached Sen Mahasay. Their radhaballabhi, Shingara, and Ratabi Sandesh were truly exceptional! The radhaballabhi had a perfect blend of spices in its filling, while the Shingara's crispy pastry shell was delightful. Learning about Ratabi Sandesh's association with Rabindranath Tagore added a fascinating historical touch to our sweet indulgence.
This was followed by some hot dhoka and bonde from Geetika. This hundred plus year old establishment specialises in deep fried snacks. The beeline outside it was a testimony to its popularity amongst the locals.
After this we reached a hidden gem. It is a small counter run by Mithilesh ji who hails from Bihar. He has transformed litti chokha into a remarkable dish which can be referred to as pocket litti chokha. Sattu stuffed baked flatbread filled with chokha, chutney, spice mix and onions makes for a delicious and easy to eat snack that will take you by surprise.
From there we went to the Calcutta Stock Exchange neighborhood for Malai Toasta and chai. We had the former at Hemanta Toast stall and the latter at Shankar Tea stall. Both the places are a hit with the office goers in this locality who drop by to unwind.
Today's episode beautifully encapsulates the vibrant moments of delightful flavours, shared laughter and exciting discoveries around Kolkata's best street foods.

The way that litti vendor talked with you... Simply fantastic. Such a sweet man!
The accompanying people were so warm. And the litti seller was a true gem. Such a nice person. Maja aagaya.
The star of today's show is the pocket litti vendor. He is the heart of this episode. He shows what human still remains.
This comment is for the makers of the video-
Guys please give that guy at 25:10 atleast 10% of your video earnings!
I saw him in Instagram and came to this video just for him.
So hard working and neat stall🙏
If you put a link we would donate for him too
Kindly consider 🙌💙
The Litti sattu man is so humble and awesome reasonable price...........The crown Jewel in his food joint is the picture of our beloved Gods including Lord Shiva...........Jai Shri Ram❤❤❤❤👌👌👌👌👍👍
Best part of this episode was Litti chokha Uncle was so sweet. Thank you
Though I am Bengali..thanks to Anubhab ji..first time I come to know about pocket litti..the healthy food and the seller both were best part of the video and the pink shirt man as your companion, very informative....the bread (of malai one)is the speciality of Bengal , my family call them 'matha pora pauruti' (burnt head) lol..almost every family eat this..love anchor's humbleness and how he interacts with litti seller or malai bread man hugged him..love this
Mr Karnani and Mr Aggarwal showed a very vital part of Bengali food culture today, especially popular in Kolkata, that is the snacks and jol khabar. Truly these gentlemen are pure Calcuttans and Bengal won't be the same without these communities that may have come from Gujarat and Rajasthan, but settled in Calcutta for generations.
So very well said 💕
This is one of the best episode covering snacks type food of Kolkata. Those were some good company of people helping you to tour around some legendary food institutions.
One of my favourite channels . thanks for sharing. The street vendors like Litti chokha person shows India culture , hardworking , courteous and polite and happy and family person. He is role model for my kids . This is Indian way of life .Rich or poor or middle class , such values make us humans.
Kolkatta is spotted with 'Choti choti saalo purani dukaane' (wth no lavish arrangements/interiors)... selling authentic food, wth genuine standards of quality n taste... maintaining devoted customers... the feeling is un matched !
Yea log marwadi hai lekin dil se pura bengal ho chuka hai or hum bengalis old marwadi committee ko apna bhai dada kaka mama bondhu mante hai dil se👌......
Such a unique food trip. Most of these eateries were not covered by other vloggers. Loved it.
I don't consider other food vloggers as vloggers they are chapri vloggers 😂😂
Hats off to that Bihari vendor.. kya baat hai.. dil jit liya
Hi Anubhav.... Good to see you, hopping on between joints in the nooks and corners of Calcutta, meeting fantastic people and of course tasting delicacies. In Calcutta you are expected to encounter a melting pot with influences of European cuisine, arts, religion, culture, music and way of life with desi twist sometimes. Good to see our non bengali friends exploring the city.. Lastly thanks to your mention of Chorbagan Chatterjee barir misti doi during puja....a cut above. Looking forward to meet you next time.
This was out of the world!
An invaluable ode to the hidden gems of the grand old city... ❤
Really enjoyed the episode.Food really brings people of all communities together.Wonderful!
3:56 "char din se dukan band tha" anubhav ji sahi time pr pahuche aap. sach me ek hidden gem se milna hua. Aap ke host bhi bahot ache se guide kiye un ke vajah se ye episode "One of the best Episode" raha...👌👌

Darun...dada. Your local guides are Bangalis in true sense. Bengal is incomplete without Non Bengalis which is true essence of Bengal. Love from Toronto❤
As I am a vegetarian, I know which places to visit when I go to Kol. Just a suggestion: Could you please list all the places covered in a video in the description? Although we watch the video, it will be good to have a list of places visited in that video, so we can follow the same when we visit that area.
Calcutta, O’ Calcutta the greatest place on Earth. The food, the language, the mix of people. What can I say. I am far faraway from you and cry and miss you everyday!!!! Singhara, Kachauri, mishti dohi, rasagulla, rajbhog just to name a few. Unbelievable stuff not forgetting the different fish Bhekti, Roi, Chingri.
Such a sweet episode. There is so much love. And so much honesty committed to the simple recipes too!!

Gr8 video again. Talking about the love of sweets 'Mishti' in Kolkata, during the worst time of the covid pandemic in Kolkata when everything was shut down, sweet shops were given special permission to remain open for certain hours. That shows our love for 'Mishti'
Lots of love and respect for you sir bcz jis taraha se hamare india ke food and culture ko aap present kar rhe ho that is best out of best 👌🏻
The food variety is so different in Kalkatta. The host knows so much about the ingredients and the recipes. Very impressive. You also know so much about food of different places. Very nice video 👏👏
Love from Pakistan ❤️
Kolkata is food heaven
One of the best episodes sir.u unraveled the best places which I am going to visit.thank u sir.
So touched, happy, and proud about how well karnaniji and aggarwalji hosted anubhavji, sharing authentic information about the history and culture of Bengal. A lot of Bengalis don’t even know about some of these places. So many of us have left the city, but the Marwari community has stayed on, assimilating Bengali culture while maintaining their own individuality, upholding and sharing the traditions of Calcutta, primarily food, love, and warmth. So happy to see this, overjoyed actually❤️
Anubha sir, nice informative & very well explored kolkata!👍🙏
Very delicious and tasty. Thanks.
Nothing like fresh rustic baati chaukha cooked in upla with roasted tomatoes n brinjal!!! I am proud to be from purvanchal Ghazipur n share same culture n food as biharis

Sir, I love to watch your videos... In west bengal if you want to taste very good quality misti doi (or more famously KSHEER DOI) , then please once visit Nabadwip in Nadia district. There are specially two shops one is known by Ramakrishna and the other one is Laxmi narayan. Please go to those shops and your whole concept of misti doi will be changed. That variety which you considered to be the best doi , you will get more of those kinds or probably better variety there. Thank you.
